I saw it when it played for 2 days at theaters all over the US. I was impressed on how the filmmakers were balanced in their treatment of the issues of the riots. I was vacationing with my grandparents in Belmar, NJ when this all happened so it brought back all sorts of memories. I highly recommend it to everyone, including those who don't have a soft spot for the music and history of the greater Asbury Park ares.

p.s. I did make a post here on Viva after I saw the film but it sunk quickly. Sorry you didn't see it then.

Sorry as well Ski, but better late than never !!!

I was also on Vacation with my family when the riots went down, We where on the Skyline Drive in Va.. The car broke down and the Rangers took us back to the Station. My dad stayed with another Ranger and they got the car going again. The TV was on (with an Antennae) the news came on and they showed the riots, At This time my Dad walked in and saw this happening on the News. He called and said he be back in a few days, longer than expected.  My Dad was a fireman and Special cop in the area, after seeing the footage on TV and seeing his friends fighting the fires and being shot at, He was in disbelief that this was happening at Home. He had friends on both sides, being that my Dad was a basketball player too and played in Asbury all the time in pick up games..Years later he told us the reasons for not coming back. I was in Asbury Park this past weekend, I love that town....... Coyotte

How's his voice?  Sounded like it hurt to sing when we saw him w/Poor Souls a few years ago.

You mean The Pour Fools... He was fine, He ain't 25 no more.
