Aug 6th Thank A Taper Day

Forums:

A day late, but better than never. Thanks tapers + Charlie Miller !!!!!

Today is national thanks a taper day. Without those who went out and lugged audio equipment around on tour with them. We would not have the incredible archives we have today. Thank you!

Charlie Miller,,,,SALUTE!

Thank You Tapers!

Where would the PZ have been without Taper Rob? What a time that was. And what dedication. Thank you, Rob, and ALL the tapers.  ALL HAIL THE TAPERS!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Thank you tapers. I think we all knew that what we were experiencing was worth saving, but the tapers did something about it.

Thank you tapers for many years and endless hours of enjoyment!

I'm thankful for all of the tapers (they were called field recorders then) who recorded some of our earliest recordings of Native American pow-wows in the 1880s through pre-WWII Blues and various ethnic recordings during the Great Depression and onward.  The Archive of American Folksong at the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress is their legacy.

John Lomax and company, we salute you:
