Whats up KK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>> if you count The Joan Baez set as a set

It's strange the shit in my brain that I remember, but for some reason I remember this. There was a girl in the motel room we were crashing in after the 82 Oklahoma City show that was just bitching about how lame the tour was and going on and on how everything about the Dead sucked and she wasn't going to keep touring if they kept playing lame shows like this. She said the last good show she saw was NYE 81 except for that Joan Baez bitch who got everyone off to a bad trip with her song Children of the 80's.

We're the children of the eighties haven't we grown

We're tender as a Lotus and we're tougher than a stone.
And the age of our innocence is somewhere in the garden.

We like the music of the sixties

It's The Rolling Stones
The Beatles and The Doors.
Flower children
Woodstock and the war.
Ah
But it's getting harder to deceive us.
And we don't care if Dylan's gone to Jesus
Jimmy Hendrix is playing on.
We know Janis Joplin was the Rose
Ah
But all the stuff she put in her arm.
We are not alone.
We're the children of the eighties haven't we grown

Some of us are the sisters and the brothers

We take a leatherjacket and a single golden earring.
Hang out at Discos
Rock shows
Lose our hearing

Take uppers
Downers
Blues and reds and yellows.
Our brains are turning to jello
We are looking forward to the days when we live inside of a purple haze.
And the salvation of the soul is Rock and Roll

We are the children of the eighties haven't we grown

Recently have you looked in our eyes

Maybe with your conscience in disguise.
We're well informed and we are wise
Please stop telling us lies.
We know Afganistan's invaded and we know El Salvador's dictated

Ah
But our lives have just begun
We are the warriers of the sun.
We're the golden boys and the golden girls
For a better world.
We are the children of the eighties haven't we grown

Here's another great video I wish I was at this show

was like 4th row, great times at the dump !

Thanks Mark, just watched the 4th set, (yes it was definitely a 4 set show); how the hell do you start

a 4th set with Dark Star->Bertha???   I've had this entire show on DVD for years. You guys must have been psyched indeed. One of my favorite shows.

Did you go to NYE '80 Mark? The last "only Grateful Dead members" acoustic set in the US? That is also a sick one.

I started collecting the GD on video in the late '80's; it was hard, then we finally got to know a few people who had some choice stuff.

As Jerry said to the guys who convinced him to let them film Veneta '72, " Why do you want to film us? We don't do anything."

WRONG!!!

Hi Localcountyline- Unfortunately in 1980 I still needed my parents permission to fly across country to trip my balls off at a 5 show run w the Grateful Dead on NYE. I did cater the 12/31/80 Bruce Springsteen show at Nassau though. By 1981 permission was no longer needed as I was now at college in New Paltz. I went to every NYE run until they ended 81-91. I was blessed to be at 5 of the Radio City shows so I did get to see the acoustic sets. To me 12/31/81 is by far the best Grateful Dead show I have ever seen live.

I believe this was the first full two verse Dark Star since 1971 or is it 74?

I love how Jerry plays a Bertha riff coming out of Dark Star and Brent answers him in like a call and response kind of way and then they bust into Bertha to bring us all back to Earth and a great version of Good Lovin too. I only wish that Moan Baez was not in the mix for Baby Blue.

The night Jerry married Mt. Girl.

I always wondered why they played small places for NYE since the ticket demand was so high.

Stunned and blown away by not only the video quality (looks like it was recorded last night) but the audio mix is sublime.

High energy jams and you can really hear Bobby's guitar cleanly.

Can't recommend this enough. This is next level shit, not my video, just a huge fan of  Christopher Hazard's video/audio mixes.
