B-17s, Russian Migs, P-38s, etc are flying

Forums:

over the house. Talk about Heavy Metal.

In an hour or two it will be the Blue Angels.

Simply very cool and I have the day off. Nice shade beautiful day and some killer green bud.

Hoping all a nice Sunday.

^That sounds great, Jazfish!  I'm especially jeaolous about the Mig.

Kai and I went to the free show at Travis AFB on the other side of the country from you.

Kai was especially pleased to see his first P-47 Thunderbolt.  We hung out with the plane for so long at the end of the show that the pilot enlisted us to help him push it backwards, so that he could fire up the engine and take off for its home in Madras, OR.  (I don't think that Kai will ever wash his hands again!).  A real treat to see these old radial piston engines starting up and listening/watching the old birds take off.

Kai took most of the photos yesterday.  Here's a photo I found from the internet of the plane:

I snapped this - the Flying Fortress- complete with twin fifties

Here are a couple of photos I took with my phone from yesterday:

The rugged A-10 Thunderbolt II (I always called them Warthogs, and this seems to have tusks to match)

And the sleek Thunderbirds, who performed beautifully:

I'm starting to see a theme here....

A friend got a ride in a P-51 once, he said it was the most awesome thing ever.
