Bart's Memorial - Lunch

Forums:

Hey y'all, I spoke with benice today.  As some of you know there will be a memorial for our dear comrade Bart on May 19 in Grass Valley.  Memorial starts at 9:30 a.m.  Benice is planning a lunch for the out of towners at a local Mexican restaurant that she and Bart used to love at 11:45. If anyone is interested in or planning on going to lunch, let her know ahead of time as she is making a reservation.  Also, I think she's looking for photos of bart and friends for albums she is putting together.

Thanks for sharing this.

Please count me in! heart

I'm gonna try and make it to both

That is a really nice offer.  ((()))

Thanks for the heads up Alias. I should be there unless my work schedule changes for some reason and am always interested in grabbing a meal with some fine folks. I'll drop Benice a modern smoke signal as to my interest.

I had such a good talk with her recently - she is the best :)

Probably be up in the spirit sphere,oh no!

Not quite the correct fact, but I love you!

Benice, I sent a message to the Deadbeat folks to let them know. Glad to hear Tom is in the loop already.
I may not be able to stay for the lunch, depending upon my family's plans for my Dad's 85th B-Day celebration, but I plan to be there when things begin.

>>>E, got an acoustic bass?

nah, but I'm usually always traveling with a cheap mandolin

Checking motel prices in Grass Valley and they are higher than a few yrs ago. .  Anybody that is going want to share a room? Coming up in 3 weeks.

Unfortunately found out I won't be able to make it to GV for Bart's Memorial due to working over that weekend and have relayed my disappointment to Benice. Hoping to celebrate his life with her at another point this summer.

I'd Be There _______ but Sadly Disabilities Keep Me From Travelling !

I would like to send love and heart to Benice and to all of Bart's friends gathering at the memorial. I'm sorry that we cannot be there. Carrie sends love to the whole family too..I'll play a few songs to Bart in the early morning. Out On The Weekend, Harvest Moon.

I met a guy walking his dog at the beach on Monday who is from Grass Valley. I think he said he was on the City Council there. He said he would be at the Memorial. Small world.

Thinking about Bart today. His good nature, his immense musical knowledge and happiness when sharing it, the love and support he willingly gave others... see you all soon.

Celebrating Bart's life next Saturday with kind people. I have to split at 11, but should be there before downbeat. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help set up.

Who else is going for this? And when are you arriving in Grass Valley?

Sorry we can't make it. All our love to Bart, Benice, and all of you who will be there to celebrate Bart's life.

Hey Mark,

I'm going, but it'll be a day trip for me.  I'll probably be leaving from Berkeley around 6 - 6:30 AM (maybe a little later?), if anyone nearby wants a ride.  Round-trip service, if you like.

The gathering is at BriarPatch Food Co-op at 9:30 AM, right?

It will be good to see Benice and other dear friends.

Looking forward to seeing all you loving Zonners. Briar Patch Food Co-op,Sierra College Blvd,Grass Valley ,Ca 95945 9:30 to 11am. Maria's Mexican,East Main Street/Richardson St,in town 11:30, or when you show up.Private Patio.

Mylar,I saw Tom Menig last Saturday at his "Buckstar" concert,Nevada Theater. One of his groups. His brother Eric, bass player, wants to join you Saturday. They said they will get to the venue early to meet with you on the set list. They both knew Henry as well.I think that you will enjoy playing with them. The venue wants us out of there at 11,& so we will miss you at lunch but understand that your Dad comes first. And everyone will enjoy all of you celebrating Henry's life thru music.

What a wonderful tribute to a superb guy.  From Mylar and Furious leading the music to the sweet testimonials and great reminisces. Lots of LOVE.  Zoners made a proud showing overall not just in the band. The food and margueritas afterward were wonderful. Really as positive a day as it could have been.

Bart is greatly loved and missed.

As Mark said, it was a lovely day of remembrance and a beautiful tribute to Bart. Zoners represented, Be Nice was her being nice self, the food and margaritas flowed. These memorials and celebrations of the life of our dear friends are all too often, but they add understanding and love in our lives.

Love you, Bart and Be Nice. (And zoners... )

^What these two said.  Beautifully touching music, emotional & inspirational words, and a meaningful gathering of friends to celebrate an amazing guy - a good man.

Many thanks to BeNice for including us in this loving celebration of Bart. heart

A wonderful day to remember a great human being. He touched many people and we are better for having known him.

Honored to have been a part of that.

t'was a truly beautiful grass valley send off.

Henry was an incredibly kind spirit and deserved only the best.

my mando playing was grossly under prepared and not nearly in the league as the pro's that showed up.

hopefully I managed to add something and not detract too much from what they were laying down.

that 'he's gone' outro jam got some serious air.

Loved hanging with everybody as always!

big thanks to Nancy for the sunscreen and shade.

lunch was delightful.

so much love and respect to Benice!

((((Bart)))

A beautiful day for celebrating a beautiful human being with other beautiful human beings. Love was in the air.
Wish I could have joined everyone for the luncheon, but had other family obligations.

Viva La Zone!

Beautiful

Bart is in my thoughts...

Looks like a great celebration, good job everyone. Bart was in my thoughts yesterday for sure.

Benice, I'll let you know when I plan on making it out to Grass Valley and would love to get together to honor Henry some more.

Awesome. Know he's somewhere smiling.

Better late than never, I will concur that it was a lovely and touching memorial.  Hearing from people who have known Bart much longer than we have was great, and my overall feeling was that we are blessed for having known him.  Big props to the music-makers, who were lovely, I teared up at one point.  Blessings to benice, who in the midst of all this was still acting like the consummate hostess.  Glad she has such a solid support group all around.
