Best Rolling Stones books

Forums:

Always have a rock n roll history book going.  Reading Ace Frehely's book right now, but it is going quicker than usual.  It a real page turner and will need to order another rock bio soon.

Anyway, haven't read a Rolling Stones book yet.   Not a huge fan, but I am sure they have interesting stories.  Problem is there are so many.   What are the good ones?   Thanks.

Not directly a stones write, but Sam cutler's book has some real good bits.

Thats all I got

As for a lone Stones member:

Keith Richards - Life

Stanley Booth's The True Adventures Of The Rolling Stones

Bill Wyman's Stone Alone is an amazingly detailed chronicle of the Brian Jones era.

I would avoid Ron Wood's book, Ronnie, though - unless you want to hear all about his artwork and finances.

Keith Richards Life is a good one. I will second that choice. I read that Ace Frehley book a couple years ago, fun read if you liked Kiss back then.

another vote for the Stanley Booth book

I've read a bunch including the Keef Auobiography,  but my favorite trashy one was by the roadie "Spanish Tony" (I forget the title, but think it was published under two titles -- maybe "Up & Down With The Rolling Stones).

Got a little one all about the making of Exile On Main St. by Bill Janowitz, 2007.

It's part of the 33 1/3 series,  no photos.

Very detailed and specifically about that album.

Powells was sold out,

But they had this and just finished it.  Some good stuff for sure and some of the most in depth stories about Altamont and the Festival Express I have read.  He sounds like a whiny bitch towards the end, but overall an enjoyable read.

Saw that dude in a recent GD documentary and he looked burnt - living in his van in London and proudly displaying his Owsley Stanley official GD class ring.
