Better than Hendrix

Forums:

you can quote me on that.

No pedals making those sounds, just a cord and a deluxe reverb. Solos one handed while drinking a beer around 5:30. Turned down the stones after Brian Jones died. A tragic dude indeed. The one guy I really wish I had been able to see live.

Plenty of better pure soloist than Jimmi.  Jimmi was the all around talent.  Wrote kick ass songs(outside of 12 bar blues), had a little range to his voice, had flash and a stage presence etc... There are plenty of reasons why Hendrix is a household name and Roy isn't.   I don't for a minute downplay Roy's guitar playing.

The lead-in with the rare Garcia endorsement:

Hendrix isn’t even top ten best guitarists

Hoover doesn’t even have a top 10 opinion

But I completely expected him to show up on this thread

Old man / long life tunes daemon (lltd) “Seeing him play live could never be matched   —pure magic

Didn't someone say this about Billy Gibbons?

I had the good fortune to See Roy Buchanan at The Chance in Poughkeepsie in Jan 88

...he left us in August of 88 broken heart

Roy would have himself a good laugh at that one you silly little person.

Actually it’s technically a vibrolux

Eddie Roberts would be my favorite these days and maybe the best out there

This comparison defines the phrase "apples and oranges".
