Biden’s Progressivism

Forums:

It's becoming hard to paint the guy as Blue MAGA. There's no doubt that he's surprising a lot of people. His executive order for a $15 minimum for government contractors will positively effect hundreds of thousands, and will force a raise in the national minimum.

I'm very surprised.

Naysayers can't say nay

Lol, sure they can. They even complained about the largest and most transformative spending package in recent history.

Naysayers can't make up their minds what they wanna cry about.

I hear they're crying that Kamala is actually running things, and apparently also crying that she's doing a good job?!

Pulling troops out of Afghanistan? How dare he do what we want!

Could you imagine if he decriminalized weed, released all low level weed offenders from prison and expunged records? I'm sure they'd find something wrong with that.

I'm guessing that it's coming down the pike.

We've reached utopia.

and right on Q ^

Expanding the size of SCOTUS is vital to restore all the damage and continue progress

Biden proposing 17 years of free public education.

Automation is the next step.

If George Harrison was alive, he could play the Blue Maga Raga while dressed as a Blue Meanie.

Biden should pave over all those pools in California, which are a waste of space and natural resources, and build working class housing.

Housing is not an important issue. Don't kill the thread with concerns about lower class garbage.

Slacker is working to kill the thread with his cries of  lower class garbage.
Maybe if he was actually working on housing issues instead of trolling here we might take him seriously

Pulling troops from Afghanistan good. Shooting missles at Syria bad.

Biden canned the White House staffers who admitted to having smoked weed in the past. Like a month ago.

Now, what's this talk about progressivism?

I'm done advocating for working class people. They don't wear masks or vax.

Middle class gentrification is where it's at. No covid on me.

5 out of hundreds got canned for multiple issues including drug use. Who admits to using drugs when it's illegal?

If you're not smart enough to keep  illegal drug use private while working for the feds (and yes, it's still illegal at the federal level) what do you expect?

even though weed is legal in CA I wouldn't tell any potential employer  that I'm a toker and certainly I wouldn't show up to work high either

>  lower class garbage

I haul my trash to the dump once a week. They're closed on Tuesdays and Wednesday, but I always have the hardest time remembering that.

Can we please move away from hyperbole? Yes, Biden authorized one targeted strike on Syria, which reportedly killed 22 combatants. Two weeks later he called off a strike that would have killed civilians. He's not shooting off missiles like any of his recent predecessors. One very targeted strike is all.

Apologists lining up...

Great response, Bss, really helpful.

Naysayers and whiners doing their thing

yeah, let's bring back the other guy. Oy!

>>> haul my trash to the dump once a week<<<

man, our dump just got county approval to raise the price up 15%. On the sly, the dump also tripled the minimum amount to haul in, from a half yard to a yard and a half.

What cost six bucks last week is now twenty!

Nancy, when do you get your medal?

> Great response, Bss

Which one? The original, or the sweet edit?

I understand why you seem unsurprised nanc

biden's record on drugs is very, very well established.

has zero to do with the other guy.

Our dump is open until noon on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. What the fuck is that?

>>Which one? The original, or the sweet edit?

Dammit, I missed an original and was left with a sweet edit? I hate it when that happens!

>  our dump just got county approval to raise the price up 15%

Blame Biden.

Maybe they were progressive missiles?

No, that's Kamala's fault

I thought it was the employees' faults?

Nancy's right. Kamala's running the whole show. Biden's a doddering old fool who hasn't solved the problems of the world in 100 days :-(

I wasn't in the military like you, and have only a layperson's knowledge, but I think that they were probably just missiles, more repressive than progressive.

> more repressive than progressive.

Regressive missiles? Like cannonballs?

>>>I wasn't in the military like you, and have only a layperson's knowledge<<<

that's not true

you also have that awful tattoo of air Jerry with the stairway to heaven beaming from his ass

but I digress

or is it regress?

I think we're making progress here.

You're just jealous.

And the stairway goes right through his fat gut, not his ass.

I actually think sleepy joe is doing a pretty decent job, and I'm sort of stoked that I don't wake up some days wondering what new horrific thing the president did to embarrass the country (again) overnight.

that's certainly progress

Would you like my tattoo artwork? You can substitute Air Biden for Air Garcia.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm trying to quit.

15/hr really kicks in next March for federal contractors. Big whoop. Nice deflection of the fact that most of America's workers who wanted 15/hr still won't be getting it. It's federal money so it's not really costing them anything since they print it.

15/hr lol. What progress. Keep that Biden Harris sticker on your cars, old folks

This thread just went to Derpcon Level 4.

It's a really "big whoop" for the contractors who are currently making under $10 p/h. There seems to be some basic math that you're not understanding. I guess that when you're making $40+ p/h, you're really removed from what it's like for people who are struggling.

A swing, and a miss...lol

Poor Timpy, can't even hit a freaking wiffle ball.

He will be one grumpy 55 year old in a couple years....

That might explain his anhedonia, RRG.

Implementing ideas like improving Infrastructure. One of Trumps election promises, only problem it never was put into action, the easiest thing to push thru was never addressed. Now Republicans are going to vote against everything about it.

When the infrastructure work begins, much of it will be under federal contracts. Hundreds of thousands of people will make over double the minimum wage, what they otherwise would have been paid.

>can't even hit a freaking wiffle ball>

My screwball was unhittable

BK, forget paving over pools, turn all golf courses into low to medium income neighborhoods. Could even keep parts of the courses for parkland.

Biden would never do that to homeowners. He's trying to grow the middle class.

Think of something he can do to increase home values, not lower them.

^That my proposal, Slack.

Also, replace all gravestones with trees.

people are paying cash for million + homes.

they are also going to make fwy's toll roads for the home owners.

The infrastructure this country needs is affordable, entry-level, single family housing.

because we straight up stopped building that shit.

I believe that Vermont is putting mass COVID relief $$ into building 8,000 affordable housing units.

It costs a million dollars to build a single family home with union workers in the bay area.

they only build new homes with 5 bedrooms.

2 bedrooms is illegal.

Is it Biden's Progressivism that is continuing to fund Saudi genocide in Yemen ?

Just like the previous Administration ?

LOL

Exactly ^

the Berniebros and dolts will never be happy.

 Bull shit sad

Timpy please go to the principals office

or somewhere

Perhaps Comedy Central

Maybe Jackass or Crank Yankers.

^^ Wrong. You choose to celebrate media fluff for "your guy".  It's not really a win for anyone still getting minimum wage.

Hundreds of thousands>>>

Lol. Around 300 mil in the country, bud.

Much will be under federal contract >>>>>

Maybe, but some will not be. In the building trades those funds are already allocated and even in right to work states construction workers mostly make over 15$/hr. Why didn't he put the 15$/hr federal minimum wage in the infrastructure bill itself? Since he is so progressive, one would think that would be a priority, no?

The Bill can't be passed until next year when they can use reconciliation again anyways but they won't put the 15$/hr federal min wage. Only when it comes from the fed who just prints paper whenever they want.

like i've said a few times, biden will go down as the most consequential president since FDR.

Look at lltd up there drooling all over himself again.

I wonder if it's the dump rates going up or the part about affordable housing that he takes issue with?

Housing, obviously. Man needs a maid.

Yeah.

It's hard to make that change.

I'm surprised they charge you at the dump, Bss. It's free here for residents. Are you talking about truckloads of stuff?

Naw man, used to be $6.10 for up to five big black bags. I'd go like once a month.

Republican central. They outsource trash service and dump operations to corporations out here dude. No socialist landfills for us.

I don't even think a passenger car could hold a yard and a half of trash if you stuffed it to the roof.

but they're happy to buck up and pay the $50k fines when they get caught letting effluent into the creeks or burying car batteries or whatever. It's all just part of the cost of doing business.

> No socialist landfills for us.

Dude. I live in Kern County, and Kevin McCarthy is my congressperson.

I'm sorry Mike

but I sure do love me some Remington hot springs

I live in the bay area and pay for the dump. It's not cheap. But the homeowners around here just have to leave their shit on the street and it gets picked up by low wage dump workers who can't just leave junk outside their own apartments for free pickup.

Republican central where i live and it's weekly pickup(township public works), and you get one free load per day at the dump.

I was going to respond to Timpy's continued ignorance, but it's futile. The dude is pretty much an idiot.

Slack, to clarify: trash pick-up is only for those who own homes, and renters in the same area have to pay for the dump?

> Remington hot springs

I haven't been to those in years, Bss, but have had some good times there. I much prefer the Kern above Lake Isabella though. Water that's been dammed up just isn't the same as straight from the source.

Keep the insults coming, BK. You're the dumbass who thinks most of the work out of the infrastructure bill will be under federal contract. You really have no idea what you're talking about do you? Just keep making shit up.

This thread just went to Derpcon Level 3.

Ignorance is apparently anything that disagrees with the lame stream feel good media from the blue maga left.

Federal min wage as of today: $7.25. 10 years and counting. Why no change in the infrastructure bill for min wage?

Mikey, whose logos are you stealing this week, old man?

Fuckin' Timpy. What a tool.

^ Says the guy who got a tattoo of air Garcia butchered on his leg. Lmao

Bk, you can just admit it. You have no idea how the federal money will be subsidized, spent or contracted and just spoke out of your ass. Go ahead.

>Why no change in the infrastructure bill for min wage?<

Perhaps you forgot, but Manchin and Sinema oppose the $15 minimum wage, and no legislation passes without their vote.

> how the federal money will be subsidized

Subsidized?

Often times, the federal gov will subsidize funds to states to do work on their infrastructure projects. Might want to look up the work in the dictionary.

Lol, back to blame Manchin. Biden gonna have to renegotiate this bill a couple times, eh

I know the word, but that's not a usage with which I'm familiar, and I'm still having a hard time making it fit your sentence.

subsidize: verb
1. support (an organization or activity) financially.
"it was beyond the power of a state to subsidize a business"
2. pay part of the cost of producing (something) to reduce prices for the buyer.
"the government subsidizes basic goods including sugar, petroleum, and wheat"

Number one.

Federal government subsidizes money to the state every year. Whenever this bill is passed most likely there will be all types of money beings subsidized to the states so they can work on their infrastructure projects. That's kinda how public money works. That would then be a state contract. The state gives grants the municipalities as well.

bryen's senator is manchin.

Wouldn't it be more clear to say "how the federal government distributes the funds to the states"?

earmarks = pork

States receive subsidies, but I've never heard phrases like "the federal money will be subsidized" or "subsidizes money to the state" before. They sound kind of awkward. Maybe it's legalese.

No. That's what it's called. Each state has a number of different agendas they will pitch to the fed to try and get the most out of this new bill and the fed decides how much to subsidize. There will be federal contracts too but the state controls projects on their own properties and roads.

Give it up, Timpy. You are just too daft to even try to explain shit to.

I'll make it simple: $15 p/h will be transformative for someone who is currently making $7.25. That's not even debatable. There are no "but this" or "but that's" to it.

Earmarks can equal pork, but they don't always.

It's simple. Not sure what you don't get.

Not that many people will get 15/hr. Take it home and pin it on your wall but it's just a political play for good publicity. All the issues he's been having at the border his team needed to make a move. Not a bad one, I'll give him that. Obama's team (which is his team) have always been great at keeping their guy in the positive social light

"Subsidize" is a transitive verb, meaning it requires an object. That's why "the federal money will be subsidized" doesn't sound correct; there's no object. "Subsidizes money" has an object ("money"), but I still think it's more clear to write "provides a subsidy".

"Subsidized" is past tense, genius. The object is still "money". Lol. Dude if your a grammar teacher then you're not a very good one.

Dude, there are currently tens of thousands of federal contractors making below $15 p/h, in all sectors, from health to construction to military to whatever the hell else.

Huge win, eh? Not really. Good publicity for sure. Tens of thousands...

It's not that simple, Timpane. Objects typically follow transitive verbs, they don't precede them, but your sentence (" You have no idea how the federal money will be subsidized, spent or contracted") also uses a modal verb ("will be"). We need Floops to parse this one out. I don't teach grammar; that's his thing. Mine is rhetoric and composition.

Seeing as how there are well over 4 million federal contract workers, it's probably well more than tens of thousands. For every high paid bridge painter there are a few minimum wage grunts.

Don't worry, you'll still make your $40 plus OT.

Unable to avoid argument

Face it, BK. Timpane is an expert on everything. It's hard to believe he has time to save lives by painting hospitals.

> Unable to avoid argument

Timpane's getting down with ODD.

Timpy was actually more pleasant when he was on the pipe. Go figure.

Paint thinner

Cool thread, BK. Some laughs in the morning, a dump run or three, and a whole lotta derpin' goin' on in the afternoon. A little something for everyone.

Biden to raise the minimum wage for federal contractors to $15, giving roughly 390,000 workers a pay bump

Published Tue, Apr 27 20211:39 PM EDT

Nancy,

I stand corrected.

Thank you !

After a long day at work I reviewed the policies he is pushing.

Much more progressive than I had hoped for from him.

I'd like to see the energy industry nationalized, but that's gonna be for the kids to do.

>I'd like to see the energy industry nationalized<

Wonder how that would play in Texas.

I don't teach grammar>>>

Yeah, you've proved that. Hope you got outside today, big guy.

Bk, you're still just #2. Don't forget it. Keep googling "federal contractors", maybe you might learn something.

Bridge painters in NJ make 57/hr, btw.

I did learn. My "tens of thousands" is actually almost 400,000. That number will go up substantially when infrastructure work starts.

You don't seem to think that's consequential. Why? You're just not that bright.

Dude, you're the #2 of viva. Enjoy circle jerking all day with your boy Mikey tomorrow.

I can see that you're having a hard time getting along with others right now. Why don't you take a break and collect yourself, and we'll work through your problem when you are ready.

Derp never sleeps.

He's not worth the breath

it must be hard hanging tough without your kindergarten best friend

apologist, blue maga thread. fake progressive. republican light.

sad.

rrg is melting hard.

it's only 9:40am tho........what are you drinking this morning?

The Biden administration says Saudi Arabia's crown prince should be shielded from lawsuits over his role in the killing of a U.S.-based journalist.

Dude natch

Yeah, American presidents, both Democrat and Republican, have a long history of kowtowing to the Saudi royal family.   Another reason to end the world's dependence on fossil fuel so we no longer feel a need to prop up petty desert dwelling dictators with piss poor records on basic human rights.

I gave up my Premier League team when purchased by the Saudis.  9/11 baggage, Khashoggi, human rights violations.

Sadly, SA and Egypt are the frail lynchpins in treaties with Israel.  A bought "peace" for sure.

Throw in energy issues and no US prez is going to rock that boat very hard.

For now.

Last I heard, sleepy joe said quite clearly he would be making MBS a pariah

did he not?

So I guess we're not doing that anymore
