It will be enlightening when they finally come out with an official explanation of why Hillary lost, people were obviously coerced or misinformed to have gone into voting booths and vote against her, it could have been some kind of subliminal messaging from Russian Twitter activity. As soon as they publish their findings we should have an immediate "do over" via special election.
I'm with you guys, as long as it can be proven that Hillary was unfairly maligned we should immediately cancel the results and schedule another election immediately, and if she loses again, we should have another, and another, and another until she wins, and if she doesn't win any of those, we should just give it to her anyway, because of the Russians.
Bryan, I don't know if you're as dumb as you seem, or if you're wicked smart but just want to come off as dumb. Or are you a Russian bot? Please enlighten us.
If it's found that people had an unfavorable view of Hillary because of YouTube videos, social media, Podesta's emails etc...then yes, we should immediately cancel the results and have a "do over", isn't that the conventional wisdom?
Maybe there should be some sort of superdelegate-like process in place to protect against voters that were so easily influenced to reject Hillary, they obviously tilted the election for Trump.
I'm with you guys on this, she lost, but she didn't "really" lose for a myriad of reasons, once any of those reasons can be reasonably substantiated by Robert Mueller we should just have another election or automatically reverse the outcome...you guys have really turned my thinking around on this matter, thank you!
In a court filing made late Friday, his legal team argue their client should not serve a prison sentence for misleading investigators. They claim that Papadopoulos proposed a meeting with Putin in a March 31, 2016, meeting with Trump and senior campaign officials, including future attorney general and then senator Jeff Sessions.
"While some in the room rebuffed George's offer, Mr. Trump nodded with approval and deferred to Mr. Sessions who appeared to like the idea and stated that the campaign should look into it. George's giddiness over Mr. Trump's recognition was prominent during the days that followed," Papadopoulos' lawyers wrote, reported the Associated Press.
Trump is neither going to be impeached nor locked up although many of his friends will pay the piper.
The "Gang that can't shoot straight" was incapable of preventing a madman from becoming POTUS and, regrettably, will continue to endure the consequences of their complacency for years to come.
What's even more terrifying is the midterms are starting to look like a disaster for the Dems with Republican candidates not only refusing to shun Trump but actually welcoming his assistance as he fills arenas and gives speeches not unlike what was last seen during WWII.
So stop the crying and take your castor oil. It's going to get much worse before it gets better.
It is what it is, at the end of the day it will play itself out, my personal opinion as correct or incorrect as it may be matters very little in the grand scheme of things. It is somewhat surprising to me that I'm seemingly the only one here that sees it, but that's ok, for the record I believe we're witnessing a coup attempt by the military industrial complex in order to maintain war in perpetuity, I'm relatively certain had Hillary prevailed we'd be at war today, it's one of those things you can't say definitively, but that's a logical conclusion. I realize I'm in the extreme minority, and that's ok, it is what it is, enjoy the day.
"So the military industrial complex wants to remove a president who's budget included a massive increase in military spending?"
Other than the limited presence in Afghanistan which compared to the past 2 administrations is on an extremely diminished scale...we are not engaged in armed conflict, that is a radical departure from the path we have been on for 15 years, in case you haven't noticed. Hillary wasn't exactly known for avoiding foreign entanglements.
"Jordan discredited himself with his performance during the Strzok hearing"
I'd be interested to hear your take on what he said about Bruce & Nellie Ohr.
If the discussion is whether or not a "deep state" exists, it's rather hard to believe there are individuals that would deny its existence, maybe that's the dilemma...although if that's the spoon fed narrative from CNN I suppose you're just thinking as you are told.

The U.S. military is officially fighting wars in seven countries, according to the White House’s latest war report. Known formally as the “Report on the Legal and Policy Frameworks Guiding the United States’ Military Force and Related National Security Operations,” the unclassified portion flags ops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Niger — all under the banner of the same war authority granted in the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force to fight al-Qaeda-linked militants.Groups the U.S. military is fighting: AQ, ISIS, the Houthis in Yemen, the Taliban, the Haqqani network, the Assad regime (with the April 2017 cruise missile strikes), al-Shabab, and “elements [in Niger] assessed to be part of ISIS.” The report’s classified annex goes into the groups in more detail. The largest section is reserved for Syria, not that that makes it any easier to say which of these conflicts might wrap up first, as they still encompass the “arc of instability” referencedby Obama-era officials — and even President George W. Bush almost exactly 12 years ago. Reminder about why all these conflicts are legal:the 2002 AUMF “contains no geographic limitation on where authorized force may be employed… to defend the national security of the United States
That is six soldiers too many, I wholeheartedly agree we should withdraw all troops from Afghanistan immediately, there's absolutely no reason to be there, I was attempting to draw contrast in our current engagement and the patterns of engagement under the Bush & Obama administrations.
^i'll comment on Jordan after you comment on the multiple indictments, convictions, and guilty pleas that have resulted from the Mueller investigation
And when you comment on the multiple contacts that Trump associates had with Russians. Contacts that they have been caught lying about again and again.
Can you do that without spinning your deep state nonsense?
I'd say if none of these convictions have proven a conspiracy between Trump and Russia, after 17 months, then yes, they are somewhat meaningless to the discussion of whether Trump conspired with Russian operatives to somehow convince voters to enter voting booths and reject your hero Hillary Clinton.
I'll be around throughout the day if anyone has any questions, I appreciate the back & forth...my hope is it advances the conversation for all involved, it has helped me gain a better understanding of the discussion points.
As far as today's discussion specific to the existence of a deep state, I believe that some/most of you believe this is "nonsense", that revelation both amazes and enlightens me, it will require a reassessment on my part of what I thought was common knowledge.
This is an overly simplified summary of my understanding, one person's perspective, but a perspective none the less.
We have been conditioned to think of American politics in a false dichotomy of two parties, Republican v. Democrat, most of us grew up in a world where the cool people voted Democrat and the "squares" voted Republican, and for good reason in regards to foreign policy.
At the onset of the neoconservative movement it was largely a purely republican effort, then Hillary Clinton, for reasons debated, aligned herself with this effort, and thought it a good political decision to outneocon the neocons...this proved to be the fait accompli of her political career.
If you don't have a base-level understanding that the military industrial complex exists then the Jake Tappers of this world are doing their job, the military industrial complex exists, they have a more fundamental involvement with our government than any ten other influences combined, and they are undeniably affixed to major corporate media.
Most people to this day that voted for Hillary Clinton don't realize she was the neoconservative candidate, conversely, most people that voted against her did so for that very reason, especially independents.
When you understand that a huge section of the power structure of government which is the military industrial complex, which is the deep state, which is the corporate media [ever watch the commercials on Meet the Press?] had a vested interest in not a republican president or a democrat president, but a neoconservative president, you will begin to understand the larger picture.
Beware the spoon-fed narrative, this is nothing short of a soft coup d'état.
You probably were foaming at the mouth over the Strzok texts.
Unfortunately, Nunes, Jordan, Goodlatte, etc were shown to be misrepresenting the facts and at times downright lying.
So excuse me if Jordan's cherry picking does not persuade me.
>...when schoolkids study this 100 years from now, this particular tactic should have its own term<
That reminds me, you continue to avoid commenting on Trump's associates' numerous contacts with Russians. You know, the ones which they were repeatedly caught lying about.
I'm still waiting for you to comment on the contacts with Russians, and to explain why the deep state wants to remove a president who has dramatically increased the military budget?
Oh, and why did the deep state release that damaging info on Clinton and keep the Trump investigation quiet?
Bryen, did you know Trump's national Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, was a foreign agent?
I wonder what Flynn has told investigators?
I know, Ohr was getting info from Steele.
Ohr is another red herring.
You know Steele's biography, Bryen?
2017 was a good year for the Military industrial complex...

US clears record total for arms sales in FY17
WASHINGTON — The U.S. State Department has set a new one-year record for clearing weapon sales, with $75.9 billion cleared by the department and announced by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency in fiscal 2017.
That total covers all announced cleared weapons packages from Oct. 1, 2016, through Sept. 12, 2017, leaving two more weeks for that number to increase before the end of the fiscal year.
The previous record for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, or DSCA, sales announcements was $68.6 billion, set in fiscal 2012 following the approval of a series of massive weapons packages for Saudi Arabia. In comparison, in fiscal 2016, DSCA cleared $33.6 billion in potential weapon sales.
AMERICA ARMING THE WORLD: U.S. SELLS MORE WEAPONS IN 6 MONTHS THAN ALL OF 2017
The U.S. is accelerating its international arms sales, and has sold as many weapons in the first six months of 2018 as it did in the entirety of 2017, according to the head of the country’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
Speaking with Defense News, Lieutenant General Charles Hooper said America has signed off on $46.9 billion worth of arms sales so far this year, compared with the $41.9 billion sold in all of 2017
Six months into Trump’s presidency, we now have enough data to assess his own approach. The results are clear: Judging from Trump’s embrace of the use of air power — the signature tactic of U.S. military intervention — he is the most hawkish president in modern history. Under Trump, the United States has dropped about 20,650 bombs through July 31, or 80 percent the number dropped under Obama for the entirety of 2016. At this rate, Trump will exceed Obama’s last-year total by Labor Day.
In Iraq and Syria, data shows that the United States is dropping bombs at unprecedented levels. In July, the coalition to defeat the Islamic State (read: the United States) dropped 4,313 bombs, 77 percent more than it dropped last July. In June, the number was 4,848 — 1,600 more bombs than were dropped in any one month under President Barack Obama since the anti-ISIS campaign started three years ago.
In Afghanistan, the number of weapons released has also shot up since Trump took office. April saw more bombs dropped in the country since the height of Obama’s troop surge in 2012. That was also the month that the United States bombed Afghanistan’s Mamand Valley with the largest non-nuclear bomb ever dropped in combat.
Trump has also escalated U.S. military involvement in non-battlefield settings — namely Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan. In the last 193 days of the Obama presidency, there were 21 lethal counterterrorism operations across these three countries. Trump has quintupled that number, conducting at least 92 such operations in Yemen, seven in Somalia, and four in Pakistan.
Hand in hand with Trump’s enthusiasm for air power comes a demonstrated tolerance for civilian casualties. Increased air power in Iraq and Syria has resulted in unprecedented levels of civilian deaths. Even by the military’s own count, civilian casualties have soared since Trump took office, though independent monitors tally the deaths as many as ten times higher. In Afghanistan, Trump’s tolerance for killing civilians has led to 67 percent more civilian casualties in his first six months than in the first half of 2016, according to the United Nations
As Jennifer Wilson and I pointed out in an appropriately titled column in August, “Donald Trump Is Dropping Bombs at Unprecedented Levels.” Within eight months of assuming office, Trump — with the announcement of six “precision aistrikes” in Libya — had bombed every country that former President Barack Obama had in eight years. One month after that, the United States surpassed the 26,172 bombs that had been dropped in 2016. Through the end of December 2017, Trump had authorized more airstrikes in Somalia in one year (33), than George W. Bush and Obama had since the United States first began intervening there in early 2007 (30)
This is now approaching the absurd, if you were casually aware of foreign policy in the last 15 years and claim the time of Trump's presidency to be hawkish compared to Bush/Obama, that's Alice in Wonderland territory.
One thing I've learned today is there is an article somewhere a google search away that will say just about anything, good luck to you guys, it has been an enlightening experience, we're all fortunate to be here, it's the first day of the rest of our lives, Autumn is upon us, enjoy this great country, unconditional love to all!
There goes Bryen with his false equivalence B.S. Fair and Balanced, lol. This Bryen dude is as bad as Alex Jones, only worse with his fake Namaste crap.
Ok, one more, but then I really do need to go to sleep...Michael Flynn was a paid lobbyist for Turkey, and obviously that's why Hillary lost the election, I totally get it, that's an excellent point.
If you need help finding a Turkish flag to cut & paste let me know...are there any other countries to blame? It's certainly not that voters of their own volition walked into voting booths and rejected your neocon hero, how could that have happened without Russia & Turkey...could it have? Have you dared to ponder such a thing?
Bryen, stop being daft. It’s whats killing this country. Illegal acts are illegal acts, and should be above partisan politics. Any on who thinks th Russians actually swing the election is an idiot. Anyone who thinks that Mueller’s investigation is a witch hunt is just as big an idiot.
For those of you despairing (and/or disparaging) regarding this thread (and with a tip of the cap to Bryen's "will of the people"), you may find some sense of solace from this rebroadcast of NPR's Forum.

REBROADCAST: 'The Soul of America' Offers Reassurance for Those Dispirited by Trump Presidency
This show originally aired on July20, 2018. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham is no fan of President Trump, who he says has failed as a moral leader and holds his own interests over those of the country. But Meacham says that our nation has lived through — and survived — similar periods of fear and partisanship. In his new book "The Soul of America," Meacham looks at how past presidents and influential activists like Ulysses S. Grant and Martin Luther King Jr. have guided the nation out of strife and what it takes to appeal to the "better angels" of the American soul. Guests: Jon Meacham, author, "The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels"
Not sure that I can actually link the podcast itself, but you can find it easily on this page:
At what point do the people bemoaning the past election pivot their focus from trying to reverse the outcome to legitimately winning the next election? How refreshing that would be...any thoughts? Biden, Warren, Booker?
Serious question, looking forward to someone formulating an original thought or idea about it...I don't see Biden even running, I think he's in love with the attention of "possibly" running, he's not running, nor would he win. I think Elizabeth Warren will run, but she doesn't win the nomination, the whole "nasty" thing doesn't work. Cory Booker will definitely run, and quite possibly win the nomination, it would make for an interesting general election.
I don't see Biden even running, I think he's in love with the attention of "possibly" running, he's not running, nor would he win
Well I guess you missed him in PA over the weekend.
I strongly disagree and believe he will run if no one else steps up to his liking.
He would certainly be a strong VP selection for either Warren or Booker also but it makes little sense. I think he's pissed off and will run just to show Hillary how it's done.
Trump would roast Warren in the debates to the point of tears. She's out.
I'd certainly be intrigued if Biden did run, I stand by my prediction he won't [you heard it here first], but I just don't think he's up to it, I doubt he would win the nomination. He's not a bad person, he's a reasonably good guy, he's long on sentimentality but a bit wanting for policy specifics. I like him a lot on a personal level, that's half the battle.
The timeline sketched out by Mr. Ohr shows contacts stretching back to when Mr. Ohr first met Mr. Steele in 2007. It also shows what officials said was the first date on which the two discussed cultivating Mr. Deripaska: a meeting in Washington on Nov. 21, 2014, roughly seven months before Mr. Trump announced that he was running for president.
At the end of the day, it's sounding more & more like Obama personally signed off on the surveillance of the opposition party during the final weeks and months of a presidential campaign. That's a big deal.
Lumber Truck, I would respectfully say that if we are now saying the dossier had nothing to do with the FISA warrants, we have entered the twilight zone of this sometimes intelligent discussion.
The Nunes memo made a number of interpretive claims — assessments of the importance of aspects of the warrant — as well as a number of factual claims. Among the latter were:
That the dossier of reports from former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele on behalf of the firm Fusion GPS were an “essential” part of the application.
That the fact that Fusion GPS was being paid by a law firm working for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee was never explicitly stated.
That neither Steele nor Fusion GPS are identified by name.
That the application cites a Yahoo News article from September 2016 that “does not corroborate the Steele dossier because it is derived from information leaked by Steele himself to Yahoo News.” The application also incorrectly asserts that Steele wasn’t directly Yahoo’s source for the story.
That the application mentions another Trump campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos but that there is no evidence of cooperation between him and Page.
"FISA warrants cannot be renewed unless shown to be yielding results"
This is my favorite argument, that the corrupt process/actors that produced the warrant the first time in order to spy on a political rival should be relied on to justify the rubber stamping of the renewal...that's good stuff!
They approved the surveillance of a political opponent during a presidential campaign, that's a known fact at this point. I guess history will be the judge of how that was allowed to happen.
Since May 2014, however, four of the five judges appointed by Chief Justice Roberts to the FISA Court were appointed to their prior federal court positions by Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
The Carter Page FISA Applications: Much Risk to FISA, Little New Insight, But a Rebuff to the Nunes Narrative
George W. Croner
July 23, 2018
Program on National Security
For the first time since the passage of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 1978, the Unites States government has released publicly an application seeking FISA surveillance authority. It was a seminal moment for all the wrong reasons.
As David Kris, a former assistant attorney general for national security at the Department of Justice, observed, the release of these FISA applications, no matter how heavily redacted, represents a monumental disclosure to the public and may have long-term programmatic consequences long after this president leaves the White House.[1]Given the potential ramifications of this unprecedented revelation, it is unfortunate that it has occurred in the context of such jejune and obviously politically motivated pursuits.
The trigger for the disclosure was a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the interest group, Judicial Watch.[2] Betraying its true interests and lack of appreciation for the sensitivity of the intelligence sources and methods implicated with these applications, upon receipt of the 412 pages released by the government, Judicial Watch drew all the wrong conclusions from its content, declared itself unsatisfied with what was released, and urged President Trump to “intervene and declassify the heavily redacted material.”[3]One can only trust that even this president, notwithstanding his demonstrated lack of appreciation for the protection of intelligence sources and methods, has the sense to rebuff this entreaty.
The Content of the Applications
Judicial Watch’s interest in the Page FISA applications mirrored that ostensibly shown by Devin Nunes and the rest of the Republican majority on the House Intelligence Committee. In an article[4] I wrote in February 2018, I noted that the approval of four separate FISA applications for authority to surveil Carter Page undercut the basic argument contained in the memorandum[5] issued by Nunes (the “Nunes memo”) that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) was misled regarding the now infamous “Steele dossier” in those applications. I pointed out that the available public information regarding the original Page application suggested that the information that had been provided to the FISC on Steele’s reliability seemed to satisfy the requirements of FISA and that there was significant information aside from the Steele dossier to warrant the FBI’s interest in Carter Page and its suspicion that Page was acting as a Russian agent.
Those points all have been confirmed by the content of the Page FISA applications themselves which now offer greater insight both as to the initial application and the three subsequent 90-day renewals that extended surveillance through the first three quarters of 2017. First, we now know that the four applications were approved by four different FISC judges, all Republican-appointees. Each application addressed Christopher Steele’s reliability in a lengthy footnote that, among other things, acknowledges the FBI’s speculation that Steele was originally hired by a “U.S. person [who] was likely looking for information that could be used to discredit Candidate #1’s [Trump’s] campaign.”[6] Each application builds upon its predecessors, as reflected in their respective lengths. The initial application, through the verification page, is 53 pages long. Each succeeding application, as a renewal of the initial surveillance authority, supplements its predecessors so that the first renewal, in January 2017, is 67 pages, the second renewal in April 2017 is 78 pages long, and the third renewal in June 2017 is 88 pages long. The increasing length is to be expected since these were subsequent renewals of an authorized surveillance that presumably included information already acquired to demonstrate the justification for renewal.
The information that actually accounts for the increased length of each successive application is largely redacted but, as reflected in the table below compiled by the Washington Post,[7] the Steele dossier (which the Post designates as included in “Section III” of each application) essentially occupies the same amount of space in each application while, in the renewals, the added length is a product of what the Post designates as “Section IV through conclusion” of each application—portions devoted to including Page’s denial of the accusations leaked about his contact with Russian officials and, presumably, additional intelligence data regarding Page’s activities.
Hell, Bryen, you don't believe anybody committed a crime...except for those dastardly fbi agents, and fbi directors, and prosecutors, and FISA judges, and Clinton.
Did i miss anybody?
Oh, damn...how can i forget about "The Deep State"
Your Flag is already posted twice in this thread.
I do it just to remind you who your advocating for.
Plus i think it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside
Namaste Lumber Truck, if you're not in favor of a soft coup by the neocons you must be a Russian, beautiful...very schoolyard of you! Jake Tapper should give you a gold star & a smiley face!
It's the false dichotomy of the two parties, red team v blue team, the actual line in the sand is neocon v. all those opposing foreign entanglements, many of the wolves are in sheep's clothing, you think you're pulling the lever for peace and nonviolence because you're with the "blue team", that's the slight of hand, never more so than in the most recent presidential election...it's an illusion.
Yes, the way it's been characterized & presented. In the very near future this will be exposed for what it is, I don't fault you personally, I'm absolutely convinced you believe what you've been told by certain media outlets, I get it, I'm sure you must be a good guy to be on this particular message board, you have excellent taste in music.
I mean, it's hard to keep it quiet when say 10-15 people are involved in a conspiracy.
Who else but the Clintons would be able to pull off such a thing. Masterminds, I tell ya. 26 years of investigations and nothing. But that's all gonna end soon, right?
Please elaborate...are you talking about YouTube videos and twitter feeds? If you can please include your specific thoughts on how this impacted the election, thanks.
That's great, you guys are beautiful! Be afraid, be very afraid...the country's electoral system hangs on a thread, some videos, tweets and social media might tilt the delicate balance of a presidential election. There must be a logical reason Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan & Wisconsin rejected the war monger. Certainly it wasn't self preservation, an intrinsic apprehension towards all things war and bloodshed...or perhaps America was exhausted from perpetual war with no end in sight without explanation?
Far between sundown’s finish an’ midnight’s broken toll
We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing
As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds
Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing
Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight
Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight
An’ for each an’ ev’ry underdog soldier in the night
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
In the city’s melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched
With faces hidden while the walls were tightening
As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin’ rain
Dissolved into the bells of the lightning
Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake
Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an’ forsaked
Tolling for the outcast, burnin’ constantly at stake
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail
The sky cracked its poems in naked wonder
That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze
Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunder
Striking for the gentle, striking for the kind
Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind
An’ the unpawned painter behind beyond his rightful time
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
Through the wild cathedral evening the rain unraveled tales
For the disrobed faceless forms of no position
Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts
All down in taken-for-granted situations
Tolling for the deaf an’ blind, tolling for the mute
Tolling for the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute
For the misdemeanor outlaw, chased an’ cheated by pursuit
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
Even though a cloud’s white curtain in a far-off corner flashed
An’ the hypnotic splattered mist was slowly lifting
Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones
Condemned to drift or else be kept from drifting
Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail
For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale
An’ for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
Starry-eyed an’ laughing as I recall when we were caught
Trapped by no track of hours for they hanged suspended
As we listened one last time an’ we watched with one last look
Spellbound an’ swallowed ’til the tolling ended
Tolling for the aching ones whose wounds cannot be nursed
For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones an’ worse
An’ for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe
An’ we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
The traitors are out in full force tonight on CNN and MSNBC, you know the Russian argument is losing credibility when Article 25 is the new battleground...what a sad display of pure treason, these people have no shame, history will not be kind to this effort.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) statement regarding nyt op-ed...
"This is what all of us have understood to be the situation from day one... I understand this is the case and that’s why I think all of us encourage the good people around the President to stay. I thank General Mattis whenever I see him
It's funny how the word conspiracy is utilized, I think I read an article on that once...if at this point you don't think there are elements within the unelected governmental bureaucracy/corporate media that are determined to unseat a duly elected president by any means necessary then I would respectfully ask if you're being genuine.
"As Alexander Hamilton writes in “The Federalist Papers,” the Constitution is designed to ensure “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” The point of the Electoral College is to preserve “the sense of the people,” while at the same time ensuring that a president is chosen “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.”
I felt at the time of the election that Donald Trump was not "endowed with the requisite qualifications" - and I feel much more strongly this way, with what I have observed since he has actually taken office in January 2017.
If the members of the Electoral College actually used their brains (instead of rubber stamping), we wouldn't have to depend on today's unelected (though chosen by the President) officials to prop up this incapacitated "Head of State" up by doing what they do. Ironically, it was the College, which was supposed to protect our country from the "stupid" masses, which went against the majority of voters, who did not choose today's POTUS. IMHO, of course.
It's a damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good country like the United States of America.
I understand your discussion points, I disagree with you on a couple issues, but I appreciate the detailed response, and the civility.
At the end of the day I think the will of the people or a true democracy outweighs the virtues of the alternative. As we're witnessing in real time, like water finding each and every crack in the foundation, those who agree with you, and there are many, are reevaluating every possible route to get from point A to point B [see the article 25 effort].
I also disagree [respectfully] that our country is being thrown away, I'd challenge anyone on this message board to cite an example of how their life has been negatively impacted other than TDS, which I'm starting to believe is a real condition.
I look forward to the point at which all of the "remove Trump" energy transitions to "defeat Trump at the polls", I think one of the reasons that hasn't happened is the fear that there isn't a viable candidate to defeat Trump. Think about that for a moment, is there an outstanding candidate that would soundly defeat Trump in 2020?
Anyways, the sun will rise, the republic will survive, things are going remarkably well economically, comparatively speaking we're not engaged in armed conflict at anywhere near the levels of the last two administrations, it's a remarkably wonderful country, our best days lie ahead.
You have to tell me how they are really Deep State operators?
I can't just insist it's the MIC... we are at war in seven countries, increased our Military budget by $82 billion and arms sales are through the roof. Given these facts, only an idiot would believe that the MIC wants to remove Trump.
So please do better regarding GRU and Cozy Bear and their links to the Deep State
"Why did the DNC, their security consultant firm Crowdstrike, and government investigators wait so long to tell us that Guccifer 2.0 did not obtain their copy of the Trump opposition report directly from the DNC? Why did Crowdstrike tell the Washington Postthat the opposition report files had been stolen specifically from the DNC network if that were not the case?
The legacy press chorus had initially linked Guccifer 2.0’s first document, and the “Russian fingerprints” therein to the Trump opposition report that the DNC claimed to have been stolen by Russian state-sponsored hackers. What prompted them to change their story, contradicting not only Guccifer 2.0 but the DNC themselves? Should we now assess the DNC’s claim that the document had been taken by Russian hackers to be untrue?"
No he seems pretty into it figured he may like to go down the rabbit hole a bit this morn. On another note though I see no wording difference in the indictment you posted v. the clips on the Natural News site. So whats not factual? Did the twitter poster rewrite the selected portions of the indictment in his tweet? Looks the same to me. Also who cares what some bias checker website says especially these days when almost every outlet is majorly biased in some way or another left right up or down. Ive known for years Natural News is either owned or heavily affiliated with infowars. I remember the gay frogs conspiracy from back in the day well turns out he was right. WERE BREAKING THE CONDITIONING!! ARGGH!!! Interesting times we live in.
When are we going to get this crazy man out of the office???????
Economy adds more jobs than expected in August, and wage growth hits post-recession high
Long-awaited wage growth posted its biggest increase of the economic recovery in August while payroll gains beat expectations and the unemployment rate held near a generational low of 3.9 percent, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report Friday.
Average hourly earnings rose 2.9 percent for the month on an annualized basis, while nonfarm payrolls grew by 201,000. Economists surveyed by Reuters had been expecting earnings to rise 2.7 percent, payrolls to increase by 191,000 and the jobless level to decline one-tenth of a point to 3.8 percent.
...the unemployment rate for African Americans, 6.3 percent, is the second lowest on record (it was 5.9 percent in May); and job-growth remains strong.
For Hispanics, the unemployment rate increased two-tenths of a point from last month's record low of 4.5 percent. And the overall unemployment rate remained at a low 3.9 percent.
The number of jobs added -- 201,000 -- exceeded analysts' expectations. (After revisions, job gains have averaged 185,000 for each of the last three months.)
$75,000 a year with benefits; no college needed. Yet local employers can’t fill jobs
But as the economy barrels toward full employment, local contractors are struggling to find enough skilled workers to fuel the construction boom.
“We’re seeing it across the board. There are shortages in every trade,” said Peter Dyga, president of the South Florida-based Florida East Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, a non-profit trade organization comprised of several construction firms and contractors.
With 243,000 open jobs construction jobs nationwide, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — and more than 500 listed by local ABC members — South Florida has become a worker’s market, said Peggy Marker, president of Fort Lauderdale-based Marker Construction, “the employees are in a position where they are interviewing us as much as we are interviewing them.”
The gradual phaseout of traditional employer pensions and a corresponding rise in more volatile 401(k) plans have also discouraged earlier retirements. At the same time, an increase in the Social Security full retirement age (now 66 and rising) has induced people to stay in the workforce longer by rewarding them with higher monthly payments.
“There is a whole set of people who have never really recovered from the Great Recession,” AARP’s Weinstock said. “If your retirement accounts took a hit at that time, it has only been 10 years, and it takes a lifetime to build up those retirement accounts.”
I agree that it's good to celebrate the successes.
Thom, it's also OK to criticize the faults. In fact, your input would probably be more widely accepted if you shared what you feel our President could do just a little bit differently.
The media's and the Democratic Party's obsession with the Trump-Russia conspiracy theory originates from events of April-June 2016. Media operations by the Democratic Party and its media echo chamber have distorted not only the information about the relevant events, but even the background political picture of April 2016.
The DNC and Hillary constructed a conspiracy theory in which Putin ordered the hacking of the DNC network and subsequent mass distribution of the exfiltrated documents to help Trump beat Hillary. Such actions were against Russian interests and very unusual for Russian intelligence.
Driven by their conspiracy theory, Hillary indulged in anti-Russian rhetoric, and the Obama administration drove relations with Russia to the worst point in the last 40 years. Since the elections, the Democrats, the hard left, and the institutions owned by them have been pushing Trump to aggravate the conflict, started by Obama and Hillary. But let's proceed in chronological order.
• Summer 2015 – The FBI warns the DNC about alleged Russian hacking.
The DNC ignores the warning.
• April 28, 2016 – The DNC discovers suspicious activity on its network.
...and calls its lawyer, Marc Elias. On May 6, after more than a week of waffling, the DNC brings in cyber-security contractor CrowdStrike, selected based on affinity rather than on merits. CrowdStrike "determines" there were two breaches and names the culprits behind them – Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear – claimed by CrowdStrike to be Russian elite hacker units of FSB and GRU respectively.
The DNC refused to allow the FBI to access its computers, which it thought had been accessed by FSB and GRU. Apparently, the FBI consented to be subordinate of FSB and GRU on this issue.
• June 12, 2016 – Assange of WikiLeaks declares that he's got internal documents from the DNC.
...and is going to publish them. Surprised, the DNC and Hillary's campaign decide to pre-empt and even exploit this publication.
• June 14, 2016 – The DNC announces the network breach through a WaPo article.
CrowdStrike publishes alleged technical details on its website. Both blame the Russian government. The DNC says that only a few documents had been compromised, including opposition research on Trump. This is an open invitation for WikiLeaks to publish that research.
• June 15, 2016 – Guccifer 2.0 claims the hack and posts several DNC documents on guccifer2.wordpress.com.
Guccifer 2.0 wasn't known before that. The opposition research is among the published files. Independent analysts discover Russian fingerprints – the opposition research file shows an error message in Russian and had been last saved on a computer with Windows in Russian by Феликс Эдмундович. Феликс Эдмундович refers to Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky (1877-1926), the founder of the Cheka, the predecessor to the KGB. Gotcha! The ecstatic media form the narrative: all leaked DNC-Hillary documents come from the Russian government; Guccifer 2.0 is a front for a Russian intelligence operation.
Just a few weeks or days earlier, the DNC hired Fusion GPS, which hired Christopher Steele to produce dirt on Trump. The outcome was a series of absurd pieces, which became known as the "Steele dossier." It was called "a garbage document" by Bob Woodward. The only known version of it was published by BuzzFeed. The first "Steele report," dated June 20, makes bizarre claims and leaves the impression that Steele was unclear about what the client wanted him to write.
• July 16, 2016 – Guccifer 2.0 offers WikiLeaks about 1GB of leaked DNC documents.
Hillary, convinced that Guccifer 2.0 was a front for the Russian government, concludes that Putin had betrayed her. I think that at that time she decided to invent a narrative that she is tough on Russia while Trump is Putin's puppet. It was the summer of 2016, and people didn't know that the MSM had shifted from being biased to being shameless fake news. Hillary's plan worked.
• July 18, 2016 – Hillary/DNC launch Trump-Putin conspiracy theory through WaPo and N.Y. Mag.
WaPo publishes an article titled "Trump campaign guts GOP's anti-Russia stance on Ukraine" (Josh Rogin), and N.Y. Mag "Is Donald Trump Working for Russia?" (Jonathan Chait). The N.Y. Mag piece is a purported analysis. It mentions the WaPo article, but it couldn't have been written in a half-hour. Thus, these articles were part of a media operation by Hillary and/or the DNC. The WaPo article falsely claimed that Trump's campaign had weakened the GOP platform regarding support for Ukraine against a Russian invasion and briefly mentioned Paul Manafort.
This DNC-Hillary media operation has achieved its apparent goal – establishing a crazy conspiracy theory of Trump-Putin collusion as a dominant media narrative.
• July 20-25, 2016 – Third Steele report mentions DNC files on WikiLeaks.
It's possible that Steele learned the new party line from the July 18 WaPo article, from copycats in other outlets, or directly from Hillary's boys. None of the previous "reports" had mentioned a DNC hacking, WikiLeaks, Guccifer 2.0, or Paul Manafort. But this one talked extensively about Manafort and the DNC documents on WikiLeaks. Manafort and the DNC leaks had been placed together only in the WaPo article, which was largely retold in this Steele piece. Examples:
"Suggestion from source close to TRUMP and MANAFORT that Republican campaign team happy to have Russia as media bogeyman[.]"
"TRUMP associate admits Kremlin behind recent appearance of DNC e-mails on WikiLeaks, as means of maintaining plausible deniability[.]"
Don't ask me which "Trump associate admits" something on behalf of the Kremlin – the whole Steele dossier consists of such rubbish.
• July 22, 2016 – A WikiLeaks dump reveals:
The DNC had cheated Bernie out of the votes in the primaries to make Hillary the presidential candidate.
• July 25, 2016 – The Democratic National Convention starts with a huge scandal.
The revelation of the dirty collusion between the Hillary campaign and the Democratic National Committee against Bernie rocks the Democratic National Convention. Hillary blames Russia and Putin; the MSM echoes. Hillary, the DNC, and the media become deluded into the consensus that Putin is behind Trump. Now it's official: Hillary runs against Vladimir.
• July 26, 2016 – Fourth Steele report is almost entirely devoted to alleged Russian cyber-operations.
Note that the "Steele reports" were received by the DNC, and any piece might have been leaked to the media at any time after receiving.
• July 31, 2016 – FBI launches operation Crossfire Hurricane.
After watching the Democratic convention for days, reading media reports and Steele fantasies conveying the Democratic narrative, Peter Strzok decided to act. Within two days, he and a few other Obama loyalists in the FBI started the operation Crossfire Hurricane, initially spying on Trump but then attempting a full-spectrum suppression of Candidate Trump and the Republican party.
Aftermath
Within a couple of weeks, CIA director John Brennan and other members of the Obama administration joined Crossfire Hurricane. Obama-Hillary loyalists in DOJ, FBI, CIA, DNI, and DHS incited Republican senators against Trump, spread anti-Trump propaganda through media leaks, and even broadcasted support to the DNC-Hillary conspiracy theory of in a joint DNI-DHS statement merely a month before the elections. These efforts continued after the elections and morphed into a coup d'état.
Opps, never mind. Obama reminded me that this is all due to his great leadership and that it's a total coincidence that the stock market started taking off like a rocket two days after Hillary lost.
Now all he needs to do is convince economists......
But it’s not just Trump giving himself credit for the strong economy – economists are as well.
CNBC called the American economy a “tremendous achievement” for Trump, highlighting that “during his time in office, the economy has achieved feats most experts thought impossible. GDP is growing at a 3-percent plus rate. The unemployment rate is near a 50-year low. Meanwhile, the stock market has jumped 27 percent amid a surge in corporate profits.”
Thom, I think that we can agree that the economy has improved under Obama and Trump (at least up to this point; Obama had 8 years in office). Well, can people agree on anything, nowadays?
Do you remember how bad things were when GWB left? I do, but admittedly it was just based on my personal observation.
>>>>>>Meanwhile, the stock market has jumped 27 percent amid a surge in corporate profits.
I remember hearing that one explanation for this was that corporations were buying back their own stock (often sold by their own staff), thus pushing up profits. While this is great right now for the corporations and their CEO's (who may be making money by selling their shares to the corporation, then getting compensated for their corporation gains), there are economists who are concerned that this is merely a short-term gain. I suppose time will tell...
What I just typed is based purely on my memory from listening to NPR while driving, so feel free to punch holes in it, if you feel the inclination.
Glad to hear that everyone is happy and prosperous.
• April 28, 2016 – The DNC discovers suspicious activity on its network.
...and calls its lawyer, Marc Elias. On May 6, after more than a week of waffling, the DNC brings in cyber-security contractor CrowdStrike, selected based on affinity rather than on merits. I'm not going through the article line by line and extract every lie and unsubstantiated conclusion.
I'll leave you with this...
So Clinton, the DNC, Crowdstrike, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the NY Times the Washington post and most media outlets, the Dutch intelligence agencies, MI5, MI6 , french intelligence officials, German intelligence officials, polish intelligence officials, Estonian intelligence officials, and Australian intelligence officials are all in on this conspiracy?

Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring your love,
Where there is injury your pardon Lord,
And where there’s doubt true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving of ourselves that we receive.
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
And to love as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving of ourselves that we receive.
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

In a court filing made late

The U.S. military is officially fighting wars in seven countries, according to the White House’s latest war report.

Still no thoughts on the Ohr
Still no thoughts on the Ohr's?
Along came the neoconservative movement...
https://web.archive.org/web/20130609011554/http://newamericancentury.org/

2017 was a good year for the Military industrial complex...
Pentagon
In comparison, in fiscal 2016, DSCA cleared $33.6 billion in potential weapon sales.
https://www.defensenews.com/pentagon/2017/09/13/us-clears-record-total-f...
And 2018 has been even better...

More reason for the MIC to
More reason for the MIC to fear Trump...

As Jennifer Wilson and I
As Jennifer Wilson and I pointed out in an appropriately titled column in August, “Donald Trump Is Dropping Bombs at Unprecedented Levels.” Within eight months of assuming office, Trump — with the announcement of six “precision aistrikes” in Libya — had bombed every country that former President Barack Obama had in eight years. One month after that, the United States surpassed the 26,172 bombs that had been dropped in 2016. Through the end of December 2017, Trump had authorized more airstrikes in Somalia in one year (33), than George W. Bush and Obama had since the United States first began intervening there in early 2007 (30)

He would certainly be a strong VP selection for either Warren or Booker also but it makes little sense. I think he's pissed off and will run just to show Hillary how it's done.

From the Washington Post

Chimes of Freedom
Chimes of Freedom
https://youtu.be/f-6gMH9AmLM

Hey Bryen,
Hey Bryen,
I'm basing my opinion from this (well, not necessarily from this particular site, but it's the same basic gist):
https://www.factcheck.org/2008/02/the-reason-for-the-electoral-college/
"As Alexander Hamilton writes in “The Federalist Papers,” the Constitution is designed to ensure “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” The point of the Electoral College is to preserve “the sense of the people,” while at the same time ensuring that a president is chosen “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.”
Here's a link to the Federalist Papers:
https://www.congress.gov/resources/display/content/The+Federalist+Papers...

Hey Johnny,
Hey Johnny,
I understand your discussion points, I disagree with you on a couple issues, but I appreciate the detailed response, and the civility.

The wage growth was the highest since April 2009.

6.3%: African-American Unemployment Rate Second-Lowest Ever
...the unemployment rate for African Americans, 6.3 percent, is the second lowest on record (it was 5.9 percent in May); and job-growth remains strong.

"Ok, Bryen, GRU...Cozy Bear"
"Ok, Bryen, GRU...Cozy Bear"

Opps, never mind

But hey Barack, thanks. Whatever floats your boat. And it's not like dealing with reality was ever your strong point anyway.

Thom, I think that we can
Thom, I think that we can agree that the economy has improved under Obama and Trump (at least up to this point; Obama had 8 years in office).

The Peace Prayer of St.
The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring your love,
Where there is injury your pardon Lord,
And where there’s doubt true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving of ourselves that we receive.
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
And to love as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving of ourselves that we receive.
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
