Big Loss for the Child Molesting/Statutory Rapist Prez

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump's far-reaching global tariffs on Friday, handing him a significant loss on an issue crucial to his economic agenda.

The decision centers on tariffs imposed under an emergency powers law, including the sweeping "reciprocal" tariffs he levied on nearly every other country.

STAND BY FOR LARGE DEFLECTION

This decision represents roughly $175 Billion that has been systematically stolen from American consumers.

Where's the money, Lebowski?

Is he going to pay us back for price increases? Do we have to pay back that tariff bonus check we never got? Will he be tarred and feathered?

I doubt consumers will ever get any of it back. Companies, on the other hand...

Starting in December, a growing roster of companies hired lawyers, filed lawsuits or submitted official claims to the U.S. government, all in an early bid to secure a quick payout in the event that the centerpiece of Mr. Trump’s global trade war is struck down.

The companies, including the buy-in-bulk retailer Costco and the canned-tuna company Bumble Bee Foods, were racing to get in line for tariff refunds, anticipating that the Supreme Court would rule against President Trump and force him to return billions of dollars collected on imports. Now that they have done so, it is unclear whether the government will have to pay those refunds.

In recent weeks, Mr. Trump had warned in stark terms that any ruling that paves the way for tariff refunds could damage the nation’s fiscal health, while still expressing a measure of confidence the White House would win the case. At oral arguments in November, though, the justices were skeptical of the president’s vast assertions of power to tax imports at a whim, stoking suspicions that they could deliver a defining blow to Mr. Trump’s economic strategy.

More than $200 billion in tariffs has already been collected since the start of last year. While the Supreme Court offered little indication during the oral argument as to whether it would order such refunds, some businesses started the legal legwork to obtain them anyway, aiming to beat the rush and recover their full tariff costs.

Costco, for example, did not indicate how much it had paid in tariffs since Mr. Trump ratcheted up duties last spring. But in a lawsuit, Costco reflected the reality that the financial burden of tariffs often falls hardest on American importers, not foreigners, as the White House has insisted. Through August, companies had absorbed about half of the cost of tariffs, while passing on more than one-third to consumers, according to Goldman Sachs.

Petulant manchild refuses to take no for answer, tariff scam continues.

At a hastily called news conference Friday, President Trump assailed the Supreme Court justices who ruled that he had exceeded his authority when he imposed tariffs on nearly every U.S. trading partner, calling them “fools and lap dogs.”

Reading from prepared remarks, Mr. Trump went after the justices, including some who are known as conservatives or who Mr. Trump appointed, accusing them of being disloyal to the Constitution and “unpatriotic.” The 6-3 decision against the Trump administration was written by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., who was appointed by President George W. Bush.

“I’m ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country,” the president said.

Mr. Trump appointed two of the justices who sided against him, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett.

“They’re just being fools and lap dogs” for political opponents, Mr. Trump said, adding: “They’re very unpatriotic and disloyal to our Constitution. It’s my opinion that the court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think.”

Later, of Justice Gorsuch and Barrett, he said: “I think it’s an embarrassment to their families, the two of them.”

The comments were revealing about how Mr. Trump views Supreme Court justices, not as independent legal thinkers appointed for their expertise or as a constitutional check on his administration, but as appointees who should be loyal to him.

Of the justices who sided with his administration, the president lavished praise on them.

“I’m so proud of him,” Mr. Trump says of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, whom he referred to as a “genius.”

He also went after the members of the court who were appointed by Democratic presidents.

“I can assure you, the Democrats on the court are thrilled, but they will automatically vote no,” Mr. Trump said of the justices who ruled against him, adding: “They also are a frankly, a disgrace to our nation, those justices. They’re an automatic no, no matter how good a case you have. No, you can’t knock their loyalty. It’s one thing you can do with some of our people.”

Mr. Trump said the three justices who sided with his administration on tariffs are “happily invited” to his State of the Union address next week.

The others?

“They’re barely invited,” he said. “Honestly, I couldn’t care less if they come.”

Not sure Gavin will make it through the Primary since is coming out against the wealth tax. I think mainstream dems are way underestimating how much people want real justice.

The days of looking up to billionaires have come to an end. They are having trouble seating a jury in a case Elon is involved in taking place in SF because they can't find enough people who don't hate Elon. People are done with the Epstein Class.

I'm firmly against Newsome or Harris. However, I would love to see them in the debates, throwing punches, and I would be happy to look the other way if she wants to deliver a swift kick to the nuts (assuming has has them?)

The presidential election is so far off, I'm nowhere near naming my horse.

Since it is so far off, I'll get behind Billy Strings with Bad Bunny as VP for now.

After Stunning Setback, Trump Finds Other Ways to Impose Tariffs

The administration has been preparing for months for the possibility that the Supreme Court would rule against the president and developed contingency plans.

He's so determined to literally reach into Americans pockets and steal their money the he won't be told no.

Trump says he’ll raise tariffs to 15% after Supreme Court ruling

Oh, how he loves to punish his citizens heartheartheart

Might it be his greatest joy?

Republican enablers most certainly get swept away in the next free elections, hopefully corporate Democrats too.

Get the damn money out of politics. It's disgusting. The oligarchs don't want democracy. They intend to rule absolutely.

Always remember there are a whole lot more of us than them.

As for the next U.S. President when this criminal regime is removed, I am thinking maybe Mark Kelly is the guy.

>>Oh, how he loves to punish his citizens <<

Technically I think the first tariffs were the ones to punish the citizens

This time he's punishing the Supreme Court...

One thing that's for sure with that brain-dead heaver is that when something goes badly for him you can bet that he'll make sure something will go badly for others.

Keep those buckles tight folks, because it's gonna' get worse before it gets better.
