Big Steve's show on Sirius

I’ve found it to be quite enjoyable.

Turned it on a few times to see if he's upped his material (stories).

Nope.

Same shit, different color.

IMO, it’s better than listening to some boring drawn out bullshit stories that no one cares about from Dave lemuix. From what I heard, Steve just does segments of talking but most of his show is music. Dave’s show is the worst thing going on dead radio.

Steve's first show only has two album cuts from Workingmans Dead,  mostly Steve rambling on and on.  Lots of cool stories though but I wonder how much he misremembers.

He mentions almost running over a passed out Van Morrison in a driveway, then he mentions how Van sat in with Jerry and the Dead on numerous occasions.  I'd love to hear some of that IF it really happened.

I'll keep tuned in

We were setting up a drum rising once (bunch of guitar players, none of us real stage crew), and he just shook his head and said "my grandmother could do it faster than that".

But I got to mic up Billy K's drum set, was petty cool meeting and partying with everyone (they stayed in our sound crew camp, didn't want to deal with all the hero worship in musicians camp, OCF)

He even gave a blood blister (small), was moving the bass amp and shit happens, LOL...

He was a total class act,  lots of snark, funny as hell, treasured memories!

It's hard not love Steve Parrish.

My friend and I got to the JGB 2/14/81 show at the Calderon Theater in West Hempstead NY over an hour early.

We were trying to puff on a joint in the front of the theater, but to the left of the doors. So we could be first on line.  Steve opens the door and looks and see no one is there yet, except for us smoking a big fat joint.

Steve didn't want us to smoke out there and attract any attention before the line started to form. So, he invited my friend and I inside and offered us the 2 pre-front row seats in front of Jerry's microphone.

It was unbelievable. We were parked right in front of Jerry's mic. The man is going to come out & it's these 2 front row seats perched in front of Jerry & every other seat in the house. oh my..

So, I am stoked. Before we met Steve, I was heading back to the car to roll some joints, but the stage served its self well as a table for that job, as I proceeded to roll a few fattys. Threw one up on the stage. Steve brings Jerry's guitar and ashtray out.

A second later; Jerry quickly ran out on the stage, grabbed that fat joint on the floor. Lit it up took some hits and lit up a Camel too.

Jerry then performed the most amazing instrumental version of Sugaree where it kept building and building for a crowd of 2.

Then the doors open and some fans start to dart upfront & Jerry bolted for about 5 minutes so the place could fill up; and then came out and opened the show with that 1981 Bachlor Valentines Day Sugaree from heaven.
