Done. Thanks so much for the head's up, Fabes. Good luck to all involved. The Everglades are a national treasure. We have the right to speak up.

From the sites I read today. Three dead dolphins in Naples this morning.  Two on the beach and one in at the Cocohatchee boat ramp.  Two more dolphins found dead and one manatee in Estero Bay.  This is unacceptable.

confirmed -

5 dolphins

1 manatee

unconfirmed -

2 dolphins in Marco Island

indeed

Grandpa and Grandma were talking about it over Thanksgiving, they were visiting friends down there at the beginning of it.

Horrible...

What part of FL?

They were down in Bonita Springs for a week, then went to the Everglades for a 3-4 days and then down to the Keys for a week.

They're RV People.

Yeah, I'll be in the Bonita area later this week.  One of my top ten FL beaches is in Bonita Springs.

>>They were down in Bonita Springs for a week, then went to the Everglades for a 3-4 days and then down to the Keys for a week.

This is a wonderful trip.  Too bad Florida politicians and big sugar are doing their best too screw up the beauty of the state.

... nonstop.

Have a great time Ms. 4winds.

Thank you!

Dead dolphin washed up  today 11/27/18 near Seagate Beach in Naples, FL.  I'll spare ya the photo. This is infuriating and sad.

forgive my grammar and spelling ITT

4winds = 5 on the meltdown scale.

Be careful around the beaches...

As Florida's toxic red tide stretches on, residents report health problems

Doctors in southwest Florida say they've seen an increase in patients complaining of breathing problems.

Sadly, not sure how much time will be spent at the beach (if any due to this) and I'll be there for a few weeks.  Might have to travel.  Family and friends are down there and the main purpose is to spend time with my mother.  There are some good hiking areas inland.

That's horrible.

100's of Sea Turtles washed up on Massachusetts beaches, cold shocked due to drastic water temp changes.

Over a 100 pilot whales washed up on a New Zealand beach.

....this darkness got to give.

Actions of the South Florida Water Management Board approving a lease for New Hope Sugar Co. on land earmarked for the EAA reservoir and steps to vacate federal oversight of Everglades water quality requirements are unacceptable. These maneuvers clearly benefit the sugar company at the expense of the people of Florida. I ask that you rescind both actions now and do what is in the best interest of Floridians. If you think you can act locally and with impunity on lands that many in the nation know, love, and are concerned about, YOU ARE WRONG. The Everglades are a national treasure, and they need to be protected. I live in Utah, where locals think they can run roughshod over federal lands. They're wrong also. Ever hear of Bears Ears Nat'l Monument? The result of the game-playing there is now two formerly-underrepresented Navajos sit on the three-person San Juan County Council. Don't think your actions are not being watched by the nation. As Bob Dylan wrote, "The first ones now will later be last." Your time is coming. Act with integrity.

While I did not vote on the lease, I assure you that it can be terminated as soon as the property is needed for the reservoir. The statute requires that the land remain in agricultural production until it’s ready for construction.

I’m strongly in favor of the reservoir and would not do anything to delay it or make it more expensive.

Nice work, Slick.

Tim or anyone else on the east coast - how are the beaches over on that side?  Thinking about making a day trip.

Is weed legal down in Florida?

In any way?

Yes, SITLA lands are a big problem. And the Lyman purchases are very suspicious.

Phillip Lyman, who was a San Juan County Commissioner and led that ATV ride through Recapture Canyon Indian ruins, saw the writing on the wall.

Commissioners tried to screw the Native Americans again and a judge fixed their gerrymandered mess and lo and behold, the Navajos now have two seats on the San Juan County Commission, including Mr. Lyman's. So he ran for legislature to fill the seat of retiring idiot Mike Noel from Kanab, the rabid anti-environmentalist who blamed badgers for digging up artifacts at sites.

SITLA is mandated to make as much money for the state (education) as possible. No environmental consideration at all.

And when they sell their lands, the new owners get a right-of-way to them, even it that goes through wilderness. And a new road would preclude it from being declared wilderness.

The hits just keep on coming.

Back from Florida and I didn't spend as much time on the beach as usual due to red tide.  In Naples, the beach was fairly crowded and I saw a few young children in the water which was very surprising.  There was a sign clearly marked red tide present.  Also, went to this beach in Bonita that is usually crowded and parking can be an issue.  The beach was dead, it was cold, but still.

Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, FL (12/17/18).  I'll be going back soon.
