Did he continue to work with Phil on his basses after 1976? "No, we got pretty burned out on the whole changing Grateful Dead scene and pulled way away. As the drugs got harder, the whole thing got nastier and very unpleasant. Too many parasites and syncophants..."

Jay Blakesberg Interviews Phil Lesh at Terrapin Crossroads

Phil demonstrates "Big Brown," his Alembicized Guild Starfire Bass used during the Wall of Sound era...
Interview preceded Phil n Friends performance in the Terrapin Time Machine of the Grateful Dead's 8/17/75 Great American Music Hall performance (One from the Vault). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1EyHnKzhX4
(Note: To me this was a very unimpressive demo as Phil seemed confused by all the controls and the memories of how this thing worked didn't seem fresh - the demo was also not too impressive, but it's an interesting 17 minutes.....)
