I love that album but I am confused about the lineup.

Same

Performing “Blows” along with Jefferson Airplane favorites and some Grateful Dead jams are: Peter Kaukonen, wasaco -founder of both Hot Tuna & Jefferson Starship, & a member of Jefferson Airplane with his brother Jorma. He played lead guitar & bass on the original album. Slick Aguilar, David Crosby guitarist in the 1980s,performed in Jefferson Starship for 25 years with Paul Kantner, prior to his passing in January 2016. Tom Constanten was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1995 as original pianist in Grateful Dead. Mark Karan, lead guitarist with Bob Weir’s Rat Dog and The Other Ones and his Rat Dog bandmate, bassist Robin Sylvester–also comprise Live Dead with Tom & Slick. Mike Falzarano played in Hot Tuna for12 years and New Riders for 15 years. Clair Maloney, a major new talent performs all the Grace Slick vocal parts. And...there will be special guests and an original multi-media component.

I'm considering going. Anyone else?

Thanks for saving me a lot of typing, Doc!  wink  You are spot-on!

It makes sense to me, on a collaborative level. Strikes a similar Vibe to the Wally Heider Studios cross-pollinatiion ethos back in the SF Daze...

What is it that doesn't makes sense to you guys?

I am definitely going!

The part about billing a whole paragraph of bands that *aren't* playing (some of whom have had easily a dozen members or more), in favor of just saying who the musicians actually are.

but doolittle cleared that part up.

that's a legit lineup of very competent players

Yeah the marketing is a bit over the top. Unfortunately there's a generation who don't even know who Paul Kantner, Jerry Garcia et al are...

So it goes...

That's a good album and a solid line up of players.  Yeah, they could have just said who was playing rather than the list of bands.   Saw TC, Karan, Sylvester and Co. doing that "Live Dead 69" thing and it was fun, With Falzarano on board, should be a rocking show for sure..

Thanks. I look forward to hearing it.

Will Robin Sylvester really be there with all his health problems? I thought he needed 24 hour care?

10/16/21 ! ~ BRAND NEW MORNING DEW SHOW!!! For those who missed WFDU's 'Morning Dew' on Saturday's Broadcast, here is the 24/7 Archive podcast: http://wfdu.streamrewind.com/bookmarks/listen/335395/morning-dew

Pete Lavezzoli  drums, I'm pretty sure (Crazy Fingers, Oteil and Friends, JGB)

From the Facebook promo, the bass and drums is Peter Kaukonen on bass (who played on the album) and Pete Lavezzoli on drums. Clare Maloney singing Grace Slick. Falzarano, Slick Aguilar, Tom Constanten.

Looks like Mark K is only doing the Live Dead part of the show, not the Airplane, but there is already the two guitars of Falz and Aguilar.

Robin not on bass, recovering from medical stuff, as David Gans says on Facebook.

Sorry if some of the graphics used contain some inaccuracies concerning personnel lineup. As much as I love the subject matter of 'Blows Against The Empire' and the pending Newton Theatre performance thereof, I kind of Produced this Radio segment on short notice, and with a severe Phil & Friends hangover, holed up in my hotel room in Stamford, CT. last week. "Mistakes may have been made"   wink

How was it? Didn't go for Covid concerns. Still a little paranoid.

Cautiously curious myself.

It was really good! Live Dead 69 featuring Tom Constanten & Mark Karan with guest guitarist Slick Aguilar ambitously opened with Dark Star followed by plenty o Dead treats.

The Airplane Family followed with full cross-pollination between the two bands' personel with up and comer Clare Maloney singing Grace Slick's parts with aplomb, and TC skillfully playing Grace's piano parts!
