Blue and Lonesome

Forums:

I've listened several times now and think this is an outstanding release and is going to do well on the charts. Great recording with gritty, passionate playing and singing that comes through to the listener. It's a very engaging record, you can hear the different styles within the genre on various cuts and thus the album does not get boring at all. A really great record through and through!

Great article in the new issue of Rolling Stone:

this is the best stones studio album in 30 years.

Once again I thought this was a Hoover thread.

Definitely the best since Tattoo You, so I'll give it the best in 25.....

Just arrived yesterday and haven't had a chance to listen yet, but your reviews will make me get to it asap.

I posted in the music folder.  I know, silly me.

Very strong record.  If Brian Jones was on it Blue and Lonesome would st ack up to the first three Stones rekkids.

Bump

This album is an unexpected gem. I've played it a dozen times and it keeps growing on me.... The band is on fire, sound is raw, and the boys are clearly enjoying playing the songs they love in a semi-live studio environment. Mick is doing things with his voice and the harp that go into uncharted territory in the context of the what the Stones have been doing for the past 30 years. A very nice counterpoint to their first 2 albums... hope it's not a bookend.
