J.D. Crowe & The New South-"I Don't Know You"

Stumbled across this nugget on a J.D. Crowe record today.  He's got the future Tony Rice Unit mandolinist Jimmy Gaudreau in the band.  This record ("You Can Share My Blanket", issued on Rounder Records, 1978) also has nice covers of the Jagger/Richards' composition "As Tears Go By" and Gram Parsons' "Hickory Wind".

If you haven't heard it, Herbal, there is a recording floating around out there JD Crowe and the New South Live in Japan.

Not the one with Keith Whitley.

Features Ricky Skaggs, Tony Rice, and Jerry Douglas along with JD. Bobby Sloan on bass as I recall.

Worth tracking down.

Thanks for the tip, Aiq, I'll look for that.  Tony, Flux and Skaggs...that's some heavy artillery!

Not the lineup that was mentioned.  I had never heard that the Rice era lineup went to Japan.

The commercial release of Live in Japan was the Whitley fronted group.

The "other" Live in Japan was passed around. I was given a cassette back during my bluegrass band days in early ninties. I burned it to a cd which is stored with a thousand others.  I need to get it out as I have promised a copy to a young friend who plays bass now in a bluegrass/americana group called The Krickets.  She is discovering classic bluegrass and I wanted her to hear that concert recording

Here is a Youtube that features the Rice/Skaggs/Douglas New South.
