I watched it on Nugs, fabulous show

The news of Phil's passing on Friday was like a gut punch that changed the whole mood of the festival.   Karina Rykman was the first act to go on that day and she told the crowd she heard about Phil right before going on stage.  She threw in some teases.   Dumpstaphunk was up next and did a rollicking Shakedown Street.   String Cheese later did a Ripple in their set.

The most moving tribute came Sunday morning with Holly Bowling's early set.  All GD and she did a beautiful UBC, which I am sure she spent hours practicing.  She closed her set out with a Brokedown Palace that had everyone in tears.

Lots of anticipation for Bob's set but when he finally came out, he seemed a bit shell shocked.  Bob was the closest person to Phil at that whole fest and if everyone else was bawling their eyes out, I can only imagine what was going through his mind.  Still, dude is a professional and delivered the goods.  Stranger, SOTM, and Estimated were the highlights for me.  SCI sang a couple numbers like Eyes and Scarlet>Fire with Bob strumming along looking a bit lost.  Kang went over to him several times to remind him where they were in the jams.  Then they did the sing along Box of Rain at the end with the lyrics up on the screen.

Bob Weir Incident.jpg This was our first Hulaween and was really impressed by the set up and all the displays and fun stuff around Spirit Lake:

Sensory overload and I could go on and on about the fest itself, the attendees, non-stop EDM at the smaller stages, and camping five nights in hurricane ravaged North Florida pine barrens, but for now, good to be back in civilization with indoor plumbing and hot showers.

God Bless Phil Lesh!

Ken, thanks for relaying your experience.  I can only imagine what it was like to be there!

Yes, thanks for the first hand report Ken!
