West L:A Hopaway

Went to a pool party this weekend and my buddy was drinking this one - in fine print on the can "21 hops, but 1 will do".  Good times

West Coast Style IPA using only Mosaic hops. These hops produce a rich flavor of tropical fruits, especially passion fruit, mango, and papaya. More aromatic and less on the bitter side, expect a smooth, hoppy flavor without the bitter bite on the finish. 21 hops, but 1 will do.

I'm more into the sours these days. They sit better in my stomach and my head.

To each their own, but too me sours and "fruity" IPAs are gross and are probably just masking over mistakes in the brewing process.

Baltic Porters, Double IPAs, and Imperial Stouts are where it is at.

Glad that the Sam Adams Octoberfest is back at the liquor stores.

Flying Dog Double Dog

A12% ABV IPA that somehow tastes great.

Plus, every Flying Dog sixer/case has Ralph Steadman artwork.

Splurged on this the other day:

Damn, Ken! That stuff has got to be super thick & rich! I tend to gravitate towards West Coast IPAs but when it's crazy hot, icey cool Foster's oil cans or Coronas with lime are pretty fantastic too.

Raised on pilsners and lagers so not a huge fan of the American craft brew scene. That said I've noticed some nice additions recently. Seems like more and more are branching out. Was pleasantly surprised with this Taco Truck Lager from Dust Bowl Brewing.

In some other great news you can now get Andechs in America from the monks at the monastery who have been doing it for a while. If you are ever in Munich it's worth the trip out. https://www.andechs.de/en/monastery-brewery.html

If I ever start drinking again, I think I'll start with a few Grievous Angels. That looks super creamy, and named after a Gram Parsons album to boot. What could possibly go wrong?

Going a bit lighter lately with Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale.

I am a sucker for that kind of thing.

my go to lately is Mind Haze LIGHT IPA from firestone

Getting the fridge stocked in preparation for Halloween season:

Ken, does Deschute's JubelAle return to market prior to Thanksgiving or Halloween?

I know it is out before Thanksgiving.  I plan on stopping by John's Market after work and can ask if it is not out already.

Henhouse tonight

sour puss

I guess I'm a Sour Puss too Zzzzang ! 2-Roads has some good ones. That San Diego Mikkeller has a couple awesome sours but nearly the best is Gose Togther by Woodbury Brewing (CT) blueberry/Lemon sour mash awe yeah,,,

Woodbury Brewery is good product but waaaaaaaaaaay over priced and waaaaaay stale customer base and atmosphere. Seen live music there a couple times, 2 thumbs down.

After an afternoon of fall planting - 3 rhododendrons, 2 lavenders and 1 butterfly kisses echinacea, it's time for a nice light home brewed golden Belgian Ale. It's about 8%

Next up is a Blood Thirsty Saison that'll be ready in another week, made with blood orange nectar and again some nice Belgian hops.

Any of you fuckers in the area feel free stoppin by. And if you're not in the area,, travel fuckers. It's worth it
