"Broomy" is dunzo

Looks like 1st Bank is slated to get torn down.  I still haven't seen an indoor show since the before times, but sad to learn nonetheless.   Saw close to 30 shows there, mostly SCI, Further, P&F

thats unfortunate, it was a great venue. the surrounding area was always fairly empty, which means when a show is going on, most people milling around nearby are heads. the aloft hotel down the street was great, they always seemed very receptive to letting people party there. they had live music going till late after JRAD last time i flew out there for shows. id guess if you didnt know about a show happening and booked that hotel for another reason, staying there during a jamband show would be a hellish nightmare, but for me it was ideal. i always felt comfortable smoking up, walking about obviously tripping balls, and everyone always seemed welcome in the lobbies and outdoor courtyards, not just people staying at the hotel, until the sun came up. one year for furthur they let random shakedown vendors set up in a huge conference room before the show.

tbh it was probably the most ideal hotel/venue situation i could realistically imagine for big, modern dead shows.

Too bad. I had a great experience every time I went to a show there. SCI, Phil and Friends,Further, Deadco,Jrad.

16 years? Damn, that's an eternity, TEAR IT DOWN!

Looks like a good little place, a good size for rock shows. It reminds me of the Event Center at San Jose State, where lots of shows happened in the '90s, and it looks almost exactly like the new place they just built in South Tahoe, right next to the casinos.

But 6,500 is a tweener capacity, just big enough to cost lots to run but too big for the club acts, and not big enough for the big shows.

It's always sad when a venue closes, condolences to those who care.

I live 5 miles from the arena for the last 5 years and it was literally a ghost town. Very limited concerts I have only seen oysterhead and chemical brothers and the rest was AEW wrestling, Harlem Globetrotters, Star wars with orchestra. Writting was on the wall when they canceled the Jrad new years eve show last year. The area is a "work play" kind of thing. Without the arena I can see all the restaurants closing and the condos dropping in value.
