Buddy the beagle.

Forums:

Our Beagle of 17 years had a stroke or has a brain tumor. He has been a trooper with no problems up until now. He has his head tilted and is having trouble walking, walks in circles. My other elderly dog Shadow of 16 years is blind but he gets around good enough, they are total pals and they appear to be on the same timeline. A few days ago Buddy had the advantage over over Shadow, today its Shadow over Buddy. Really rough going here. Buddy has an appointment at 11.

Good luck to Buddy and his vet visit today.

Im sending a huge hug and scratching out to him today.

((((((((((((BUDDY))))))))))))

aw man, thats rough for the whole crew. Pets are family too. ((Buddy and Shadow))

Wish you the best.   Our dogs have always been a member of our family and I'm looking at a similar situation coming up.

Just remember that they love you UNconditionally -- whatever your decision might be.

(((buddy)))

Sounds like the pups have had a good run. Hope they’re comfortable and pain free in their old age.

We lost our beagle named 'Buddy' afterabout 8 months of me having to carry him out to go because he was so weak and couldn't do the stairs anymore all the while having diabetic seizures frequently like every two hours having to give him his medicine. Meanwhile my great Pyrenees his brother of over 10 years watching. Then Buddy had the convulsions at the end and had vet had to put him down in January and he didn't go easily. I was in there and having to hold him down it was brutal. Then soon afterwards we noticed the Great Pyrenees was having seizures and he didn't make it through the summer he died in my arms july 20. Howard was 11. We don't have kids so they were a huge part of our lives for over 10 years. Jill and Iam still dealing very much with the grief. I wish you well

I will say that after our beagle passed Howard never really accepted it completely changed his style of walking when we went on walks he would sniff the ground like the beagle did and never really did that on walks before that. I figured he was looking for buddy. He would always smell this bush the beagle used to frequently pee on before our walk. I think he was looking for his brotherbuddy. Its like he was systematically going to different spots he never would go and it was like he wanted to be sure buddy wasnt lost..strategically peeing in spots he figured buddy would smell if he were lost. Howard was like a 135 pound human in a dog costume very cute and smart. They both were

Sorry about your canine friends, Greg.

My daughter's (youngish) dog had been having seizures. She began giving him CBD drops and the seizures stopped almost completely.

Please consider food sources, supplements, shots etc when dogs develop seizures after they are small pups.

All the best to any ailing pups or heart broken families.

And yes CBD is our friend.

So sorry

Sorry to hear about your dog, Fog.

The exact thing happened our old dog Carl.

It's Vestibular Disease. She lived for another couple years, but never was quite as active. The tilted head and lack of balance will clear after a week or so.

Awe, man. 17 years. That's a great run.

So sorry.

((( Buddy ))) ((( his humans and Shadow )))

((( all the loved ones )))

Shadow has been slipping, he barks at the top of the steps for me to carry him down and now won't go out the front door unless i coax him out, Buddy has always chugged along solid until friday, we are thinking either a stroke or brain cancer. We were already planning Shadows Celebration of Life party for october, Buddies may come sooner, he's clearly not doing well. At 16 and 17 they both have exceeded expectations, not an easy decision. If i was here during the day to take care of them i would consider waiting, i don't have that privilege sad to say. Buddy has always done this expressive murmur sigh communication noise, not exactly talking but close. Like em humm...

I'm telling you Fog, look into Vestibular.

We nearly put Carl down a week into it when she snapped out of it. Never 100% again, but was present and gave love for another 1.5 years.

No, i'm hearing you man. we ruled that out, that's what i thought it was initially. We were already considering it because of Shadow not being around for him. Kinda like that terrible book they made us read in school, where the red fern grows.

Sorry about Carl. Is that the dog you posted pics of recently?
