I have read everything these 3 have written. James Lee Burke is the greatest living american author(in my opinion). Have you read everything from these 3? I am assuming you meant Michael Connelly.
Barry Eisler is excellent if you like it dark.
On the comedy side, I like Tim Dorsey alot. Douglas Adams. Carl Hiaasen,
For historical novels, James Michener cannot be beat. Hawaii, Centennial, The Source, Alaska, Chesapeake, The Drifters, many more.
Always enjoyed Robert B Parkers Spencer series.
John Grisham writes great courtroom dramas.
Of course, Kurt Vonnegut.
Just started the Randy Wayne White Doc Series. Seems pretty good.
Chesapeake was excellent and very interesting in regard to a "lunar view" re: how societal / political norms have evolved to get us to where we are today.
Yes I've read everything by the 3 mentioned, its weird. I've been reading Michael C since the late 80's when the first book came out and always spell his name wrong, don't know why, as for the others: Dorsey and Carl H are favs when I need a laugh and have read them all, while not trying to be a dick, Michener is a bit dry for me at times and Grisham I just hate, but that's me. Kurt I read back in the day while in college. I'll take a look at Eisler, I like dark. Thanks for the 411 . As for historical, Caleb Carr ruined the genre for me, no one else comes close but I keep trying when I read reviews about a new one. Glad I have a Kindle, books take up a lot of space in a 2 bedroom NYC apartment
Check this book out, The Good Detective--John McMahon, first in what promises to be a good series IMO, not as good as the 3 in the tread title, but what could be. Anyway a very enjoyable read
