Burning the Nikes in Protest

Forums:

I'm all for this type of protest against BLM and NIKE. Just be sure and put on your full track suit before taking the challenge..

..Full NIKE track suit, please.

And as far as the Nike Ad Campaign, I'm glad that Colin is earning some Cash, but unless the ad motivates people to put on the sneakers and run to the polls to VOTE BLUE, it's all for naught.

"Many clips showed people setting their sneakers and clothes on fires while others cut their socks".

That's showin' 'em!

Yeah,  but is anyone burning the Nikes that are worth $3,000 a pair?

One of my employees a few months back cut up 4 of his Yeti coolers with a chain saw due to NRA crap.

4 of em.

never said I had smart ones working for me.

Nike will be coming out with the KC shoe soon enough and the only thing burning will be the path to footlocker. Pure genius.

https://www.thestreet.com/markets/nike-slides-after-colin-kaepernick-unv...

Burning Nike gear because Kapernick was featured in an ad? Dumb.

Looking forward to the backlash against the backlash; when everybody who hated Nike because they make their gear in sweatshops starts virtue signaling with retro Jordan's and Nike Dri Fit on Twitter.

What percentage of the outraged are ordering more Nike gear to burn?

MAGA!

I support Nike on THIS idea.   And burned feet should keep people out of the voting booth. they should have announced right before midterms! great pic. amazingly stupid but not surprised given the state of our union. Talk about fire retardation...

Hey sports people- can CK play at the NFL level?  i mean do his views make him a pariah or is it he cant play?

Kap had a chance to compete for a starting job in Denver, but didn't want to take a pay cut (can't blame him for that).

The situation in SF was way, way more complicated than casual NFL fans or non-fans seem to grasp. Lance can probably type up a short novel on it, if he's inclined.

Big picture; after SF, NFL front offices really don't want to deal with the guy, for obvious reasons. The dude was probably a serviceable starter for a handful of desperate teams, but the baggage outweighs the gains.

I happen to hold Kap in high regard as a man, and I fully support his right to prioritize his activism over his career; but I wouldn't want him on my team's roster. Too much bullshit to deal with, and he's simply not good enough at his position to justify said bullshit.

That said, I hope he wins his lawsuit, makes some money, and continues to focus his energy on his activism/humanitarian efforts.

Thx Mark, pretty much what I would assume w/o knowing all the deets. I have wondered why he isn't even a backup. Sneakers are big biz these days.  Maybe he can parlay the Nike contract into more activism. I support his commitment.

How long until the NFL players say the are taking a knee in protest of the current administration?

Lol like Ringo said "the jokes on you, we already got your money.... burn all you want"

>and he's simply not good enough at his position to justify said bullshit

Exactly.  If a team thought that Kap could legitimately bring them a trophy he'd be starting next week.  It's ONLY about $$$.

The irony is that Nike founder Phil Knight is also a big donator to GOP candidates.  He just gave $500,000 to the campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Knute Buehler:

https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/08/phil_knight_contri...

He knows what he is doing. The Republican governor will save him millions in taxes he would have to pay on all the profit he is going to make from the people who will buy Nike product because of the ad.

If you were wondering about the veracity of the top photos, the answer is no.  https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/nike-shoes-boycott-burn/

bummer.. and yes  I got snookered.

Even checked snopes this morning. seemed plausible given the circumstances with  so many stupid people actually destroying their Nikes over this...

I support Kaepernick but he is in his 14th minute of fame and has done nothing with the platform he built, zip, nada. Same thing can be said with the players union. The police could of stepped up and gotten some positive publicity for at least listening.

Trump is the only one winning here, and his game is so weak on the actual issue, and he is promoting silencing free speech. Why is this not easy to take down trump publically with some good ole troll techniques. It’s not going to be Mueller that takes Trump down, it’s going to be some fat naked guy on his computer with a Twitter account

He should start for the for the team that plays in dallas

>>>>>>>I support Kaepernick but he is in his 14th minute of fame and has done nothing with the platform he built, zip, nada.

Nada?  Isn’t that a light chicken gravy? (Three Amigos reference.  Watch the movie Judit.  It’s a classic)

Here’s just some of the nada he’s accomplished with his platform:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/jerrybarca/2018/02/01/...

>He remains a free agent today. Through all of this, though, Kaepernick kept doing what he said he'd do. He sent food to Somalia. He hosted a "Know Your Rights" camp in Chicago. With $100,000 left to donate he gave $10,000 away for 10 days, getting matching donations from some sports stars and celebrities. In total, Kaepernick's donations reached 41 different charities.

golf clap, he gave away a million dollars and created no awareness of the original thing he protested, total blown opportunity imo, but now he got some Nike cash, and they will use him for the cause, what was that cause again? Something about the flag?, or shoes, we’ll see when the ad comes out and they tell us what he stands for.

>>>>>and created no awareness of the original thing he protested

created enough awareness that you’re talking about it on an obscure dbmb.  And are you really unclear on what he was/is protesting?

He never stopped getting Nike cash. They have honored their contract with him all along, just as they did with Tiger Woods when he fell from grace.

>>>>I support Kaepernick but he is in his 14th minute of fame and has done nothing with the platform he built, zip, nada

i’m going to have to take issue with this too.

Just echoing the sentiments above. Donating over $1,000,000 of his own money plus using his time to help and lift others. If anyone is interested in hearing what Kaepernick has done post-NFL should read this: https://www.si.com/sportsperson/2017/12/06/colin-kaepernick-charity-givi...

I think it must take an enormous amount of strength and discipline to have kept quiet all of this time while the President Of The United States and a significant portion of our country talk shit about you and hate you for making a silent protest regarding police brutality. I know I would have told him and the rest of them go to blow themselves a LONG time ago.

Saying that he has done nothing couldn’t be more wrong.

Oh yeah, he’s now the face of a major Nike campaign because of his cause. It’s being talked about here, and here and everywhere.

It’s pretty myopic to say that he’s done nothing with his platform.

What year did he start kneeling?

Only 2 seasons ago! 2016

How often does he talk about this?

Aww the poor widdle snowflake Cons are triggered. Poor babies burning crap they have already bought and paid for, hilarious.  Breath them fumes in deeply  geniuses.

Good job Colin, you have successfully started a national dialogue and kept it going.

And in all seriousness we need to retrain our police forces in this county. More money for training and psychological evaluation.

If I was to politcally protest on the clock, I wouldn’t have a job either.  Wha!

>>>I support Kaepernick but he is in his 14th minute of fame and has done nothing with the platform he built, zip, nada

Yeah...no

Also, looks like The Flash really let himself go, up top.

He is using his lawsuit to not speak about the issue. Weak.

>>>He is using his lawsuit to not speak about the issue. Weak.

He didn’t talk about it before the lawsuit. What’s weak about what he’s doing?

It's an angle from the times. He is quiet and everyone else is protesting for him.

He could lead a march tomorrow but he won't. Ever.

The season will start and he'll be forgotten until next September.

>>>>>If I was to politcally protest on the clock, I wouldn’t have a job either.  Wha!

And if your company fired you for not standing for the national anthem they play everyday before work you’d have a pretty strong lawsuit .

He was not fired.

Oh, so you were saying if you protested on the clock you wouldn’t renew your contract with your place of employment?

You win, congratulations.

yea

Colin might not be around for long.

Currently, shares of Nike stock are down 3.2% for a loss of 5 billion for the company.

The guy is like a cancer.

Sounds like a good time to buy.   Maybe wait another week.

>>>>>>You win, congratulations

huh?  I’m just trying to understand the correlation between your post and the Kapernick situation.

>>>>>>Currently, shares of Nike stock are down 3.2% for a loss of 5 billion for the company

Same with Puma and Adidas and it’s because of Trumps trade war not Kapernicks Nike endorsement.

B0D7AEB9-D0BD-476D-8D2F-E3A47758C472.jpegActually I just checked and Nike is the only one of those three stocks that is up right now.  Where’s your source?

>Colin might not be around for long.

No doubt the "fine" people in the Klan and your right wing associates with would like to see Colin lynched for daring to express his views on racial injustice.

nike_0.jpg

His source is Breitbart. Fake news

https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/09/04/nike-shares-drop-as-...

"Shares of Nike were down by as much as 3 percent on Tuesday, after the sportswear giant chose anthem-kneeling activist Colin Kaepernick as the face for the 30th anniversary of its iconic “Just Do It” slogan...Kaepernick’s defenders have falsely claimed that his protests were not anti-American, but merely meant to show his opposition to racism.."

So all other shoe manufactures are being hurt by Trumps trade policies except Nike.

lol

Funny, these protest things don't always work out as planned.

Remember the Red Hen?

lol

Say something incorrect, get called on it, change the subject.

first  Breitbart and now Townhall. lol indeed

Maybe Thom will drop a storefront link again.

This thread is about Nike

Im not too surprised people don’t visit a small town in Virginia though.

You burn your Nike's yet, Mulemuzik?

Back to Nike, why do you think they’re the one major brand who’s stock isn’t down now?  Could it be the Kapernick endorsement?

Levis hopped on the gun control band wagon.  Bunch of Mule fans are gonna have to burn their jorts now.

Hillary wears Nikes

hillary.jpg

Nike is worth over 9 billion....theyve been endorsing Kapaernick for 2 yrs....they are also a HUGE nfl sponsor....they released this ad three days before season begins and three weeks before their next earnings statement gets released....they know exactly what theyre doing....stock went down, then up, then down, now up....much more important than that is everyone, including ppl on dbmb s are talking about....NIKE...

Thats all that matters....to NIKE

I'm really shocked more people are not supporting Colin and the fight for fair justice for all Americans. Peaceful protest is the soul of our  nation. He is trying to help us form a better union. What is so wrong with that?

Nike is a shit company, imo, but they are on the right side of history on this one.

Is it just me or does Hillary seem stoned all the time now?

>I'm really shocked more people are not supporting Colin and the fight for fair justice for all Americans. Peaceful protest is the soul of our  nation. He is trying to help us form a better union. What is so wrong with that?<

A whole bunch of racist folks don't want to hear it.

Do you think it would help the racist if we explained to them that there is only one race of homosapiens living on this planet at the current time?

Skin color does not equal race. All us humans are just various shades of tan. Just knock it off with this "race" crap already.

^Nope.......x10

Yeah, you are most likely  correct. As a wise man once said; "you can't fix stupid".

Part of a conversation i overheard today...

First guy says, "I hope Nike goes out of business. "

Second guy replies,  "It will never happen. "

First guy says, "You're right,  it's mostly (racial epithet) that buys em."

>>>Lance can probably type up a short novel on it<<<

Hey!

>>>Hey sports people- can CK play at the NFL level?  i mean do his views make him a pariah or is it he cant play<<<

Mark said it right; Kaepernick is definitely good enough to be in the league, but not good enough to mitigate all the constant distraction and BS that would go along with having him on a team.

If he had never started the sitting/kneeling thing he would be on a team right now for sure, but the player that is really the more curious one who doesn't have a job now is Eric Reid, who played with Kaepernick on the 49ers and also took a knee. Unlike Kaepernick, who out of the 64 QBs who are now holding a full time NFL job is probably somewhere between 35 - 45 in quality, Reid is a top quality starting/winning caliber player, and he hasn't gotten a single tryout this year.

I have a hard time imagining that the 32 billionaire buffoon owners could get their heads together and secretly agree on anything, but the Reid situation far more than Kaepernick is the one that smells like collusion to me.

Lol. Those memes just made my morning. Thank you.

So much for that. Its a long season and we have plenty of games to play.

Good Luck with the protests!

Hoover on a complete motherfucking roll

no golf clap for that shit perhaps a belly laugh or two

"""The situation in SF was way, way more complicated than casual NFL fans or non-fans seem to grasp."""

Per Damon Bruce a local sports radio talking head and a Phish Fan.  95.7 the Game, On air the other day said

"CK stole Alden Smith's Girl and everything went downhill from there."

Today Nike’s stock closed at over $83 the highest ever in the company’s 54 years.
