Anyone ever go to this festival or this part of Australia?  The initial line-up looks solid, and the area looks amazing.  Looks like Brisbane is the closest major airport (about a 2 hour drive), while Sydney is about 5 hours away.  Round-trips to Brisbane are about $1100, and $1000 to Sydney.

I'd been planning on doing the more affordable French Quarter Fest in New Orleans around that time, but Australia is luring me in.

Known about this fest for years. Never been to Aussieland. Been to New Zealand though. I saw the band Hudu Gurus in Christchurch, NZ in 1984.

The 5-day festival pass is just under $700.  With travel costs to and from the destination airport, food, and lodging, this won't be a cheap vacation.  I've got free lodging in New Orleans, so I could probably do Mardi Gras weekend in New Orleans, the French Quarter Fest, and NOLA Jazzfest for what a trip down under would run.  Decisions, decisions...

That $700 os AUSD, which is only $500 USD.
