Cal Jam 18

They're still doing Cal Jam, who knew?

I remember the first one.  ABC televised parts of it. It was built up to be a big deal, like Woodstock, but kind of fizzled.  Aerosmith, Heart, Santana and 70's Stoner Rock bands like Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush played.  Can't recall if the Nuge was there.

Looks like they've kept the stoner theme with the line-up.  I'll be up at HSBF, but maybe some of you Southern Californians can road trip out to scenic San Benardino.

Wtf? Kingfish is the last band listed on that poster.

^^I was hoping that this was a UC Berkeley Fest...

>>Wtf? Kingfish is the last band listed on that poster.

The also forgot the "L" in Flea.

>> I remember the first one.

actually that was Cal Jam 2  March '78. We must be close in age...the summer of 78 I must've watched that, on abc, seriousssly, abc? 3 or 4 times.

I loved it back in the day! When the 2 lp set came out me & my neighbor rode our bikes to kmart cheeky  and pulled our money together to buy it.

The first cal jam was '74..?  Sabbath, Rainbow (i believe Blackmore went off the rails during their performance) and others.

Who's in the current Kingfish?
