I remember there always being a good SBD of that one circulating, but there was something funky & metallic sounding about the sound on my tape...just one of those details remembered from so many cassette-spins. Maybe it was one of those PCM transfers that sometimes sounded so incredibly clear but thin somehow?...or maybe it was FM.

Anyway, thanks for digging up my memory, and providing a new copy to hear!

I heard that shannanigans like these contributed to his demise.

I remember this show. I think it was in a velodrome (bicycle track)?

Healy was messing with Bobby's vocals that whole tour.

It was kind of trippy at first, but you could tell Weir was getting annoyed.

I dunno!. Bobby loved that stuff.and so did I!.  Think about all bobs "vocalizations" during Prophet: "a nana a hiyeeeeee a nana!"   if bob didnt like it it would have been fixed after the first time or two. I found it super psychedelic but then I like chipmunks.    Escaping through the lily fields....  Lights going nuts, jerry going nuts. i loved it

great weekend. fm broadcasted, sound was phenomenal. live and on the tape i had...

"if bob didnt like it it would have been fixed after the first time or two."

That's what I always assumed as well, but he rumors were out there at the time.

I used to have a tape with some Healy shenanigans during "Take A Step Back" long forgotten where and when,

and I'd love to find this show again, does anybody know?  Take A Step Back was a East Coast thing...right?

Anyway love the Cal State show.

Blistering hot for those shows. 110  I think.

Thanks, that was a great listen yesterday afternoon. I agree about The Other One, and can see exactly why they fired Healy. That move was juvenile, and obviously intended to piss off the band as well as the audience. It sounded like shit and ruined an otherwise killer performance. I've heard Healy do that before when it sounded kinda trippy and fit, but this was a clear middle finger.
