Cap Center Landover 9 12 87.  Video of the whole show.  Stellar show.  Jerry is ON.  The band is locked and loaded, and they fire off one gem after another.  The Dew is exquisite, Ship of Fools is majestic, Phil drops a Tom Thumbs, and Might As Well to end the 1st set.  I drove from Ohio, scored tix in the lot, and headed home with my head all empty...it was so much fun.  Enjoy.

This was my first GD show! Thanks Amigo...

Thanks for posting that video.  Love Phil on Just Like Tom Thumb Blues.

Sweet Fafa!

My first show was just a few miles later 9/16/87. Why did i wait so long to see them?  Well I was only 15. " Judge you know that seems to me to be  about right..."  I remember my friends and I declared we would partake every time they played a good song....well we left with serious cottonmouth as every song was a good song. That first set was a nice blend of songs. He's gone has some very touching Jerry cries as well as the other boys too.

Long Live The Grateful Dead!!!

I was also in the house. Thanks to GDTS, we had 15th row

dead center all three nights. The first set is a rager, and the

second set was also very hot.

Exactly one month earlier, I was at Red Rocks. (Aug. 11-13)

Twas a very fun time to be traveling around seeing shows.

Trailhead, 9/16 is my birthday. They almost always played either

Dire Wolf or Comes A Time on that day, two at the top of my list.

(Well, of course not when I was finally able to see a birthday show in '94).

Of course, the ultimate birthday show would have been 9-16-78, the third

night of Egypt. My friend was there, and the connections he made there led

him to work for the GD until the end. (And beyond).

Anyway, good first show!

Everybody is on pointe this show, but Jerry is particularly pointey.  Man oh man, that Dew...and the Ship of Fools.  Goosebumpy stuff.
