Cassady in the Backhouse (1972)

He died in 1968.  Why is this titled "1972"?

Interesting footage.  He looks high and psychotic.

The title card of the actual film (not the restoration wrapper) says Fall of '65.

Tough to watch, but understandable given that he'd been living in the fast lane for 15-20 years at this point.

Is this Mountain Girl? She's credited with doing the sound in the youtube notes.

Betty Cantor-Jackson maybe?

Wikipedia sez "In 1968, [Betty] landed an apprenticeship recording live sound with Bob Matthews at San Francisco venue the Carousel." I'm not finding anything that indicates she was part of Kesey's scene in 1965 or so.

I believe Babs and Kesey put this together in 72, thus the soundtrack.

Thanks for posting this.  Fascinating slice of history. However, I found it exhausting to watch.

This has probably been seen & posted before, but it's a pretty good example of how Cassidy "conversed".

Dude must have been one hell of a trip to be around.

Methamphetamine induced psychosis.  Not a cool thing. Involuntary body movements due to Dopamine depletion, detachment from reality. Deal with it every day at work.  Never met him, may have been a pain in the ass or fun for a minute.

definitely not Mountain Girl. ^^^
