"Influencers"

Is this the generation that claims boomers ruined everything?

Looks like the generation that thinks everything is free for the taking. Go into a store in Cali and fill a garbage can with stuff and walk out freely.

CALI IS FUCKED UP!

Glad I left in 1987!

Would never live there again! It's a shithole

derp

Lance nails it, as usual.

Also, California is just fine with the status quo.

So say Lance!

I'm over it.

Soon it will be all skid Row/

Derp?

Why is it OK to go into a hardworking families business and rip them off??

Or is it my negative vibe towards Cali?

In small towns, this happens at Walmart on black friday....

I don't know specifically why Lance called you a derp, doolittle, but I don't understand what your post has to do with this thread, "Chaos in NYC".

You posted that you're "over it", and that "soon it will all be skid row" - I'm asking, what are you talking about?

Are you okay?

Judit look on Youtube and check out the homeless in LA videos. It's shocking!

YouTube?

I could go down to the west side of Jacksonville, Fla., film some trashy trailer parks, interview some toothless tweakers, post it on YouTube, and make the whole town out to be some third-world hillbilly shit hole.  Same with pretty much any city in America.

BTW - the twitch influencer has been charged with inciting a riot.

Why settle for Chaos in NYC when you can have Panic in Detroit?

If i want to incite chaos where i live,  all i have to do is fly a Biden flag  ;(

Ken you've obviously never saw videos of L.A..

So sick of people talking shit about California. My home state. Sure there are problems here. There are problems everywhere.

"Glad I left in 1987!"

That's a long time ago. You can't know what things are like here in 2023. You along with all the California haters are not missed, stay away from here.

I ws there 3 years ago Noodler and would never live there again. My Mom and Dad were married in Santa Monica in the 50's. My bro and sis were born there in 1960. I lived in Canoga Park from early 60's till 1974. It was great then. Feel lucky to have lived there then. Moved back in the 80's living in Woodland Hills. Good time to be there also. Now is a different story IMO. Traffic is terrible and living on the East coast with  all the trees and greenery and animals and rivers, creeks and lakes and ponds sure can't be beat. Winters suck though.

doolittle, I don't need to look at Youtube videos to feel overwhelmed, saddened, confused by the different ways people are living. Are those what you're feeling?  There are large groups of people living on the streets everywhere, not just in one state or another, and not just in the U.S. - people who don't have homes, but do have community.

Oregon has all of that, and the idyllic things you cited about living on the East coast. The world is not a simple place, it's not one way or another, but full and confusing.

I'm glad for you that you've found a place you feel good living in, but the people who live in California have their ties there, and see the beauty you don't.

Life is beautiful and mysterious and it sucks. That's how it seems to me.

The Outrage-Industrial Complex

The merchants of this economy of obfuscation, discord, and malcontent—be they social media executives, talk radio hosts, or the professional provocateurs of television and the college lecture circuit—feed on the withering hull of our democracy while wrapping themselves in the mantle of civic virtue. The Outrage-Industrial Complex debases our politics, swindles us out of our time and money, and makes us miserable. It’s an outrage! But how to fight it without just feeding the monster? Happily, resisting the outrage industry is not only virtuous—it can also be fun. Whenever I talk to students who wish to organize a demonstration against the latest outrageous speaker invited to speak on campus, I advise them to hit back harder—by going to the theater or the movies or by staying at home with a good novel. We should starve the profiteers of outrage by ignoring them: Without our rage, they are nothing.

Judit I loved living in California years ago. It was the best, Those days are over sadly IMO.

Those days are (obviously) over for YOU, doolittle, so quietly keep on moving on towards whatever works for you. Simple. "Thanks" for the feedback/personal opinion anyway.

Yes, for you those days are over. Zoners and my family members who live in California still find living there where they want to be. Who was it who said, "to each his peach"?

If you're lucky enough to like where you live, can afford to live the way you're comfortable, you're a very lucky person, indeed.

I don't know specifically why Lance called you a derp, doolittle<<

I think it was more of a derp in general .

someone forgot to eat their rectangle pills this week

No trees in California.

Some people seem a little testy here.laugh

Here in our small city of Corvallis, Oregon, the homeless population has exploded!  But none of them are locals, they've all been shipped here from Republican cities, counties, states, since we're a "Sanctuary City".   This has been going on for a very long time.   Republican leaders give the homeless / mental health / and others cash to get on a bus, then get shipped to a sanctuary city.  Boise has been doing this for 15 years (longer???).  It's a brilliant practice of cleaning up ones town, being able to claim your policies work, then blame those evil liberals for destroying their own towns with their policies.  Golf clap for sure.  Now the fact that it's actually human trafficking, and is pretty much as morally bankrupt as you can get, just adds more insult to the injury.  I hope their god is watching and judging them!!!

Fortunately, here in Corvallis, we've got multiple resources for these displaced individuals.  You can go to a shelter, or the drop in center, and they'll help you with lifes needs.  Aside from food, socks, employment, we've got 3 churches with "granny flats" in back, which acts as temporary housing while they find work, apartments, perhaps grants to cover initial rent / deposits, etc.  There's a very long list of out of staters who now are functional citizens with employment, housing, counseling, stable school situation for the kids, etc.  Yes, we solve the problems here.  Republicans are the problem!!!

(is there any news media not owned by republicans at this point???)

Throw away your paper
Go to the country
Build you a home
Plant a little garden
Eat a lot of peaches
Try an' find Yourself on your own"

what can you do?

Love the "slight modification" there Joe.
