Cheaper than Cheap

Forums:

Something truly amazing and unexpected has just happened, and I couldn't be more stoked about it!

Out of nowhere, an unknown, never seen, never heard, Frank Zappa TV special is about to be released (This Friday).

 "Cheaper than Cheap"

Like the Roxy movie, its from 1974, and the video and sound were recorded out of sync, so it sat in the vault for 50 years...   until now!!!

This is great, but I wish they would release a multi-show set from the 1988 tour.

Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life CD is a lot of stuff from the 88 tour.

It must have irked Frank to no end that they had gone through all the contortions necessary to film the Roxy show and to produce this TV special, only to have them turn out useless.  Somewhere in the cosmos his spirit is giving out a satisfied belly rumble.

That set is all from the '88 tour, Klondike, as is it's twin Make A Jazz Noise here.   Both are great, but I agree it would be nice to have whole-show official releases from what wound up being Frank's last tour.

I wonder if Ahmet was involved in the production of these? he has been pretty successful in the TV/Movie/ book world, and was the one shutting down Dweezil using the Zappa name, which was resolved. He and Moon Unit are running the Family trust.

Ahmet and Diva each received 30% shares of the trust when Gail died.  Dweezil and Moon Unit got 20% each.  I believe it's  Ahmet and Diva that manage the business side of things.

My bad it's been a while on keeping up with Zappa.

I have Best band, make a jazz noise, Broadway the hard way, the final show of the US tour, and even the Godfather Box(bootleg). But I would love a 4 or 5 show set with all the trimmings.
