Chicago Travel Help ?

Forums:

The wife and I were thinking about going to the two deadco shows at Wrigley Field for a weekend getaway. It's been awhile since we've been out anywhere really.

Could someone recommend a safe place to stay around the ballpark? Maybe it is in a safe area, never have been there, don't know?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

Also, I know it's a deadco show but if any zoners are going we would love to meet up to say hello!

the area around the ballpark is safe.not alot of hotels around the ballpark though. check out the best western, majestic, willows and city suites. my guess is they are already booked.most are smaller boutique hotels.look into airbnb in lakeview, wrigleyville, lincoln square, bucktown, wicker park and lincoln park neighborhoods.you also can stay downtown in the loop or just north of the chicago city limits in evanston. both of those areas are right on the train line. the CTA red line stops a half a block from wrigley field. dont drive as parking is extremely limited or too expensive around the ballpark.there is also a hotel in logan square called longman & eagle about 4 miles from wrigley field. a short uber/lyft ride.good luck

This is why I still linger here upon the Zone.

Knowledegeable (sp.?) folks sharing  the reality to help out.

And Hi Scott Uptown, nice to see you.

Looking forward to another DNB Eastern Tour laugh

We stayed here for the FTW last year. It is closer to Soilder field but there was a ton of parks and art within walking distance and it was a safe area.

Price was fair and the rooms were tits.http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chirh-renaissance-blackstone-chica...

^^^ No rooms for those dates

We had McCormick Place reservations but gave them up for Phish Northerly Island...

McCormick now saying no rooms...

Thanks for the info everyone.

Scott, I will definitely look into those options. Thank you!

hey Stu! bring on another DNB tour. hope all is well

blackstone is a very nice hotel and walking distance to the train line too or uber it down lake shore drive(lsd) about 7 miles or so. most of chicago is relatively safe despite the headlines. most of the violent crime takes place on the southeast and west sides of the city.the loop and northside of the city are for the most part very safe but like any major urban area its in your best interest to pay attention.

We went to the one on the south loop. My wife and I talk about this place at least once a week for a year now. It was fucking incredible.

It is a blues/Jazz themed restaurant where even most of the staff looks like they stepped out of the 30's. The owner is a tatted up perfectionist. EVERYTHING is made from scratch including the cream cheese. They say the deserts are the best but we ate there 4 times and never even got to the deserts. HIGHLY recommended.

Sunday morning it was a zoo.

the reason they have a jazz theme is the original blackstone housed the jazz showcase for 50 yrs where all the jazz legends played. the hotel closed in the late nineties? but was renovated into the beautiful hotel it is today and they kept the history intact.the jazz showcase has moved a lil furthur west near dearborn station and still has a full schedule.
