I'm a big fan of Death to Smoochy, which got pretty well panned when it came out. Very dark and fun.
But, my favorite Robin Williams film is probably the Terry Gilliam-directed "The Fisher King". That was seriously dark. Walked out of the theater wrung out like a damp rag.
Garp is my favorite..and yes, book is one of the best, by a great author...prayer for owen meany, (phenomenal book, so much better than a half assed movie try under a dif name), hotel new hampshire, cider house rules, 158 pound marriage, on and on...john irving...great frickin author
