Congratulations Recent Grads

Forums:

That time of year, I know there's gotta be a few amongst us,, or at least our kids. My last still at home twin daughter just graduated with a Masters degree in social work from UConn yesterday and went on her 1st interview today in Danbury at a rehab center dealing with drug, alcohol and HIV patients.  She thinks she nailed it. Her mother would be so proud,,,, she passed away 8 years ago now of cancer,, started as breast, finished as ovarian. She's smiling down for sure.  My other twin daughter's been working for 2 years now in New Jersey as an environment, health and safety specialist. Not bad for having me as a dad huh ?

Congratulations to all grads and parents of grads, you truly are da shit.

Congratulations to your daughter, and all of the other people getting degrees and moving on. Quite an achievement. My son, father of two young kids, just recently got his MS in Economics. He's doing good work. He's so proud. Greg would be proud and happy for him, too, we're all sad he's not here to revel in John's successes.

Good work Ras!

My son is scheduled to graduate Sunday with honors from George Washington Law School:

Got himself a job lined up this fall with storied mid-town Manhattan law firm.

COngrats, Ras.

My youngest finished her last final exam yesterday, with a BA in Sociology. She's applied to numerous universities in England, to get her Master's in Public Health Policy.

That's what I say. My oldest is a Mechanical Engineer, and starts a grad program in Autonomous Systems in August. My middle is an Environmental Engineer in New Jersey, and she's talking about getting her Master's in Chemical Engineering so she can work for NASA. I can't even graph a linear equation.

Congrats to all the grads!

My oldest finished early in December and officially walks in a couple of weeks. He will attend UK in the fall with full tuition scholarship for 4 years.

I'm feeling old!

Congrats, Ras, Ken, BK, and Lager, and to your graduated offspring, of course.

Cheers to the grads and the parental units who supported them til the end!

Yes, congratulations to everyone graduating... I graduated college in 2010 and can't really imagine graduating into the world as it is in its current state.

My daughter's Mom / my friend / my co parent Angela, would be graduating today with her BWS from Rhode Island College.  Despite everything going on in her personal life the last few years, she was going back to school in addition to working and being a parent.  She was really excelling and was an honor student.  I've been sad this week with Mother's Day last weekend and so many graduating now... it's a complex set of emotions that continue to work on me in new ways... the finality of it all continues to sink in deeper as time passes.  I was and am still proud of her.. RIC had the idea of honoring her in July which will be nice.. they said her Mother couldn't walk for graduation (as they initially had hoped) because of Covid protocols but they do want to honor her and a few other students who passed.  Angela deserved to walk and move on to new and exciting things.  I can't help but think I could've done more and made crucial decisions differently.  Specifically, when her family approached me with the idea to involve DCYF and get the kids out, I keep coming back to the feeling I should have insisted on an intervention.. "IF this doesn't happen THEN this..."  It's all in the past now and no use beating myself up over it but it's hard.  I feel like I should've considered the nuclear option a little more conservatively but in the context of what was going on, the situation was alarming.  We all miss you and are proud of you, Angela.

(( Angela ))

I know there are no words brother, but please keep your chin up -

She's now free from the troubles and will be looking out for the two of you always

My oldest is graduating from high school in early June and attending University of San Francisco in the fall. Only 6 blocks or so from 710 Ashbury. Can't wait to visit

Ras, another father of twins, one is a pharmacist managing her own store the other a working RN with less than a year until she grads and becomes a PA.

My son has a couple of degrees and is working too. My dyslexia ass barely made it thru high school, and I had only two other relatives that graduated college.

Congrats everyone!

My youngest graduates with honors tomorrow. Marine Science University of Hawaii Hilo. Sadly, we won't be able to attend. Congrats to all!
