Initially I thought it was bogus that they weren't playing on the actual field that was built & used for the movie, but later I thought maybe that field just didn't have the proper dimensions for a major league game. Still, that would have been much cooler and more to the point.
I also think they shouldn't have had large stands and fans there. IMO for the true experience of what it seemed they were trying to create, they should just have had small, little league type stands (like in the movie) with just family & friends of the teams there, just like a little league game or any other small town, small time ballgame.
Still, it looked pretty cool when the homers went into the cornfields.
That was a GREAT event. Congrats to all the folks involved to pull it off. And the f**kin' Yankees lost, and on a walk off. Couldn't have ended better. Fireworks even! Kinda like "The Natural."
Hell of a game. How cool to walk around those beautiful grounds during the game,, playing catch with your son on the original field,,, and that sunset,, so cool.
I see the Iowa Corndogs joing the AL Central in the near future.
