Taylor is not the Madonna of today. It all seems so boring now but Madonna pushed all kind of boundaries. Strong supporter of gay men during the AIDS crises, and she took on the Catholic church. She was pop star that was controversial. Taylor is curated down to her shoe laces. Her goal is to never offend anyone.
I would hope Love doesn't find Taylor important. Taylor represents everything Love should stand against. The tide always swings back and forth between whats popular and easy and then the back lash against that until the backlash becomes popular and attracts people for all the wrong reasons.
I don't try and judge talent at this point I just listen to what I like. I am not the target audience for Taylor's songs, but for all those who say they are simple - I guess they are but there aren't a whole lot of musicians packing stadiums around the world where 50% of the audience knows the words to every song. It's not important - it's not my thing, but I wouldn't say she isn't talented. I would say we could use more Courtney Loves these days and less Taylor Swifts, but there doesn't seem to be any real backlash against anything these days musically. Just a lot of people trying to get rich.
