Covid Jesus: A Holiday Vaccine Classic

Forums:

Well, here we are. A new beginning of lively vaccinations to make us feel warm and safe inside.

Are Zoners going with AstraZenaca, Moderna, or Pfizer's?

Is thing even going to fucking work? Being that it could be available by Christmas time, is this the work of Covid Jesus? Hopefully our very old, elderly and weak population on Viva makes it until then. It seems this is our last shot at this thing as the cases rise and rise.

Should Biden round up and arrest people who won't take it? Will Biden vaccine be better than Trumps?

Who's ready to shoot up some motherfuckin Covid drugs?

I was going to insert a picture but the phone is still broken.

30 minutes and no covid stories. The zone is on a ventilator.

I think most of them are asleep. Either nap time out west or maybe lights out at the nursing home.

I haven't left my house or even looked out the window since March but pharma conglomerates make me feel safe.

I'll mix this shit up with Grade A Dilaudid and go for a carpet ride.

Count me in.

^Sounds like a decent little cocktail there. You really haven't left your house since March? Wow. That's some serious dedication for sure.

Timp, I watch the news and pay close attention to my social streams.

When the government deems it safe, and only 100% safe, will I continue with society. Until then, you can have your Mad Max world. Crazies.

^Would you rather it be Steve Bushemi from Escape from NY crazies or Steve Bushemi from Con Air crazy?

Instead we're stuck here with mr pink

Is that your truck, racket?

Yeah nice truck

sorry about the small penis

When I was younger I never got a flu shot, it always seemed to be a bit of a racket to me, but I had been discussing that with my doctor and was re-thinking it as I approached 60.

I don't know what to say about any of this COVID vaccine business except that I hope the experts are right and have done their jobs well. Either way, COVID isn't the flu, vaccines have worked to overcome disease in the past and I don't see any better solutions or suggestions to getting things back to a semblance of normalcy now.

People, especially (but not exclusively) people my age are still getting very sick, hospitals are filling up again and deaths are on the rise again, so I'll take the COVID shot when it's available to me, and hope the experts in charge have done their job well.

Because hoping experts in any situation are doing their jobs well is the only way any of us ever survive.

And I haven't seen Escape From NY for years and don't recall Bushemi in that one, but I've always liked the Bushemi character from Con Air. He understood his issues, and everyone else's, and he wasn't trying to fool anyone.

It was escape from LA, sorry.

Experts do their jobs well when they are making a lot of money. Hopefully, in this case people made enough money not to cut corners and kill people with a shitty first vaccine.

Seeing that this is the fastest vaccine ever developed (by far) let's hope it's effective.

Being that Covid 19 is a mutating virus we will most likely we will have to get shot yo a couple times a year with the is thing. That means trying to get the whole world to get short up two times a year with this thing.

Maybe Covid Satan wins, but I like normal. Hope it works out!

I think that it's also the first mRNA vaccine.

If getting the vax is as hard as getting a test in jerseyland then it's gonna be a long year. NYC getting 150k doses mid December I read. Is that for the upper westside or maybe the prisons (lab rats)? What about the other 8 million folks.....

>>>Experts do their jobs well when they are making a lot of money<<<

Unfortunately it's not always the experts who get all the money, they just do all the work.

But I get your point and I agree. Especially because this is a global situation, the money to be made with the first COVID vaccine is monumental, and I'm sure all the pharmaceutical companies that have been racing to be the first are seeing the $$$ as much (or far more than) the value of saving humanity from COVID Satan.

There is a real chance that these first rushed vaccines will have some "glitches", but I figure I won't get an opportunity to get one until lots of other people have gotten one first.

So for now, this elderly, weak zoner will stay secluded, sit in my rocker, covered in my shawl and watch with fading, watery eyes what happens in the next six months with definite interest.

Maybe expecting the worst, but hoping for the best.

That pasta dish looks kinda nasty

^^^

I was thinking the same.  Not worth the risk for nasty food.  Pastacoronavera?

I like the the plastic, blue checkered tablecloth.

Don't worry.  I hear there is a holiday TV special in the works wherein Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W Bush will all be vaccinated before a live studio audience to prove that it is safe:

Aw, that's cute. Reuniting of three old friends. What a show they're going to put on.

So far, I think we have one zoner who has pledged to get vaccinated. Nice.

Hasn't even been any arguing or name calling yet. We must be tired

>>Yeah nice truck

sorry about the small penis<<

Haha, possibly.

We've always had trucks in the family considering we operated a transportation and cartage business for many years.  People love to borrow or ask ya for help when you have a truck!  Works for me since my father will either move something for me or let me borrow one.

This is the thread we've been anxiously awaiting?!

Can't you feel the hype? It's super lit in here right now.

This thread is like opening al capones vault

fishcane voted for W.

Lol, your unabashed love affair with W rivals Brys passion for Hunter Biden. Rough

>>>>Are Zoners going with AstraZenaca, Moderna, or Pfizer's?

My understanding is your choice will be dependent on what's available in your region.   I'm not excited for the first one and would choose the second if I had a choice.

>>>>Should Biden round up and arrest people who won't take it?  No.  They are hurting themselves anyway and when the vaccine is available and they choose not to get it, this will only be exacerbated.   This doesn't make me happy but so be it.

>>>>Who's ready to shoot up some motherfuckin Covid drugs?

My mother for one.   I took a quiz yesterday to see where I stand on the timeline to get one.   I'm almost dead last.  Out of about 100 I think I was in the last 4%.  I'm fine with that as it gives a few more months of testing to be done.   My mom beat cancer twice and is locked down at her place all alone by the people who run it.  It's no way to spend the end of her life.

>>>>>>If getting the vax is as hard as getting a test in jerseyland then it's gonna be a long year

Moderna said they plan to have over 300 million doses well before June.  328m+ peeps in the US....I can imagine a good 20-30% refusing a vaccine.  In addition, with three vaccines and more on the way, I could see us having full availability safely by May if Moderna executives are right.   That could be just in time for summer tour.   I literally can't tell you the last time I saw Phil.   And at $250 a ticket for the recent shoes, it may have been the last.

Phil is charging 250$ for Phil and sons? Wow

By the time it's available here for my age group, April of 21, fuck yes I'll be getting it. Whichever one CVS is offering, I don't care,  we're on Aetna healthcare, I'm confident in their choice.

Wait, the vaccine only has cure rate of 90%?

Sorry, still not safe enough. Americans must continue to do their part until we reach 100%. Death merchants be damned!

>>>>Wait, the vaccine only has cure rate of 90%?

1. it's not a cure. It's a preventable measure to keep from getting it.

2. It's actually 94-95% protection from getting it with 100% protection from severe cases.    That means if you get the vaccine, you highly reduce your chances of not dying.

Covid-19 is altering as it did in June, so think of this a bit like the flu vaccine.   They've figured out in record time what works with this strain but it may change as the flu does.   Evidently, the US is mostly the second strain at this point, something like 98%.

So by the time a lot of people are eligible to take the covid vax it will most likely have mutated again. Sounds good

Hope so.. What ever is available to me in my area. I don't think its covid Jesus, just a lot of very intelligent and qualified humans.

No. No doubt.

Me.

Wear a damn mask in the meantime. It's not a political statement unless you make it one.

The big RNA experiment.  Get inline peasants.

I suppose it's a good thing we have some paranoid elitists in the mix.

Well the Swedish support initiative ran out of foil.... Galileo was not a learning experience for many despite the goodwill pardon.

There has been a mask mandate in NJ since March or April. Last three days have been record breaking days for cases. Simpl just wearing masks isn't going to get us out of this pandemic.

It's not because of the masks

Masks won't get us out of this pandemic. If you believe they will that's fine but they won't. We need an actual remedy to stop the virus.

>>Last three days have been record breaking days for cases

Um, yeah, it's because of multi-household gatherings over Thanksgiving, where people were in closed environments, close contact, little ventilation, and didn't wear masks. Virtually every expert predicted a post-Thanksgiving spike. Those same experts have been saying for months that simply wearing masks practicing good hygiene will make an immense difference.

Yeah but masks alone only for so much. Their "prevention" isn't going to take us out of this pandemic.

And there was a spike way before Thanksgiving.

Yes it was called Halloween

That's wht we have Covid Jesus to save us from Covid Satan. Duh!

Lol. No one was out around here in Halloween. It was virtually shutdown. It's called a second wave of a virus that we can't stop. We need to figure out something better than just "masks" which don't do all that much.

The spike started before Halloween in NJ btw.

Where was the spike for Fourth of July?

Yes, we need something more than masks.

Yes, masks do a lot.

Yes, they only do a lot when they are worn. "Covid fatigue" is real.

The covid second wave has gone right through the savior masks, apparently. The bandanas and t shirt cloths don't seem to be protective.

Aside from China pretty much the entire world has been effected from this second wave.

Everyone must have all stopped wearing masks at the exact same times.

^^Where was the spike for Fourth of July?

you mean that holiday where everyone hangs out outside and social distances safely even in non pandemic years?

>>Aside from China pretty much the entire world has been effected from this second wave.

Except for much of Africa, Asia, South America and Oceania...

lol, there's that damn broken phone again.

There have always been indoor gatherings and parties on Fourth of July.

In case you didn't realize the spike in NJ happened before Halloween so your theory is wrong.

There have been plenty of spikes in Asia including South Korea. Also in places like Kenya they have experienced a second wave which is most likely coming to the rest of countries in Africa. There is a much lower testing rate in Africa and some countries are in third world economies so it has been harder to scale the virus there. But you would know that because you're so smart, Bk

It was called back to school

Okay, South Korea is spiking. With a population of 51.5 million, they are at 500-600 cases a day.

Taiwan, with 25 million people, is spiking at 24 cases.

I guess India isn't in Asia anymore.

The subsequent spikes and waves secondary to the initial wave have been discussed and predicted since the start. This is not a surprise to anyone but those who haven't been listening to the science

>>> Everyone must have all stopped wearing masks at the exact same times <<<

E0E04172-C73B-4DB3-B4AB-228411190F98.jpeg

Lol, Fishcane. Whatever makes you feel better about this whole thing. Obviously, we are failing and need something better but keep making excuses. With or without masks we knew there would be a second wave? Sounds like they knew they wouldn't be that preventive. Remember when the CDC said only sick people should wear masks?

Maybe if we were a communist country? Their numbers all seem look really good lol

I'm focusing on more developed nations with testing, killer, not the little islands and 3rd world nations. South Africa is holding its decline, as are Australia and New Zealand.

Do some research into why rates in Africa are relatively low. You may be very surprised by what you learn.

>>I guess India isn't in Asia anymore.

India has been on a steady decline since late September. They are in a dip, not a spike.

I'm not MENSA material, but I know how to do some very basic and easy research. Maybe your local librarian can teach you????

They already had a second spike. That was their second wave. They're on a steady decline of 35k cases a day.

You bring up two of the least densely populated islands in the world lol. Nice work

Say whatever you like BK. Masks and all, a second wave has impacted most of the world. When the third wave comes I'm sure you will have your excuses for that as well. Just keep blaming on people.

Dude, India's population is 1.35 billion, 4x that of the USA. They have 35,000 new cases, vs our 200,000+. They are not in a spike, and their rates are considerably lower than ours.

Any way you cut it, there is not a "worldwide spike." Many heavily populated nations are in decline or holding steady. These are just facts. Much of Europe and North America is spiking. Parts of other continnts also are. Again, that is not a "worldwide spike."

The seventh wave is the one we need to look forward to. Who said masks were the only thing that was going to prevent the virus from spreading?

I'm giving population data and new Covid rate data. In what world is that "making excuses?"

I think that most experts will agree that the reason for the spikes in the US, Canada and much od Europe are because people stopped giving a fuck. It's not that complicated.

Let's not forget, all the measures we have been taking are to flatten the curve. They were never going to eradicate the virus: same # of total cases, but over years rather than months.

Bk there was one place in the world that's not spiking and hasn't even had a real break out. The Asian population seems to have been able to have a revolution in Hong Kong but with no outbreak. Amazing, isn't it? Africa looks like they are having spikes as well but there is limited available testing there. It is mostly a spike around the world. Not really sure what you're talking about man.

The highest recorded number of cases in New Zealand was 75 in a day haha. How can you even compare them at all?

People stopped giving a fuck? Where? If that's the best conclusion our worldwide "experts" can come up with then we should find people who actually want to figure this out.

Maybe they just can't stop it? We all know they can't say that but yes I believe they are making poor excuses for the recent spikes. Trying to blame people for not wearing masks isn't just a claim with no evidence.

Yup^ @bk

great points

It was about flattening the curve from the start and boy we Americans sure hate to be inconvenienced

So, why didn't states prepare for this second wave, Fishcane. "Experts knew" it was coming right? They did nothing. There's plenty of state buildings and empty spaces that could have been turned into temporary hospitals. They could have been ready or at least a lot better prepared what happened? What happened to all the tax money and stimulus money that they are supposed to use to for Covid?

Maybe they just don't want to spend the money to ensure safety? But then they want to turn it on you and say you're the one who should be ensuring others safety but they are the ones who dropped the ball to save money.

Here is the progression of the virus in the US based on deaths.   They have gotten better at treating people with it since the initial spring spike and survival rates have gone up, so the steep increase in deaths since November suggests the virus is more out of control right now that at any other point in time.

daily-covid-deaths-7-day (3).jpg.png

I knew from the get go that many Americans would grow bored of it and eventually will have no more fucks to give.  I have to go to Florida at the end of the month.  Thankfully, the Covid pandemic has been officially canceled down there and everything is back to normal.

Cancel Everything.

Were you really not paying attention?

Look, Timpy, I know that you want this thread to be a success, and I know that you need this win. I'm trying to help, I really am, but this is a civilized society with rules of decorum, rules that keep us from being like the barbarians at the DSO and WSP boards. One of those rules is that you can't spam your own thread with total bullshit, and then call it a resounding success. That would be like giving Tyson the win after biting Holyfield's ear off.

>>why didn't states prepare for this second wave

Many states simply said, "fuck it." Their governors made a political point by doing nothing. Ultimately, though, it came down to individuals taking responsibility and doing what was for the common good. It's pretty well documented that the 20-30 year olds have been the super spreaders. They have super spreader events, get it, don't get sick, and pass it on. Then there's the people who refuse to wear masks.

Wrong, BK. They could have set up more temporary hospitals. As of right now people don't care about the deaths. They only care about the cases and overwhelming hospitals but they provided no back up temporary places to be used as hospitals even though at the moment there are more vacant state buildings available than there ever would be in any other situation. So, why aren't experts blaming states for incompetent use of funds to provide safety during a pandemic? Pretty simple question that you did not answer.

And I'm not spreading bullshit. I'm pointing out that you're actually not as aware of this pandemic process as you think you are. You think it's as simple as put yourself bandana on and things are ok but it's not at all. It's dangerous for those who leave the house sick and put on a mask on thinking they are protecting someone else, and while they can absolutely spread the virus still they think they won't. They can still pass the virus and it's still surging.

California another example where cases have soared and they have record breaking case days and still no help with hospital beds.

Oh, looks like they need another shutdown right? Because that's easier to do, rather than just giving the temp hospitals?

I don't give a shit if this thread is a success or not lol

Look buddy, when you look at worldwide #'s there's definitely a spike. This, however, is because of a few countries that are going through the roof. The US is accounting for almost half the worldwide cases per day. Many other nations are down, and most are relatively flat. There is no spike in much of the world. So, you're changing the subject to hospitals and why we don't have the beds.

Fair subject, and I'm sure that we'd agree on the reasons, but it has nothing to do with your bullshit about a worldwide spike.

It's okay for you to need this thread to be a winner. You've been hyping it for days.

Pretty much everywhere except Asia and areas beyond there is or was a spike. That's not bullshit. The second wave has been talked about for the last month. I didn't just make it up, big guy. There never was a real first spike in Asia. People are afraid to admit that maybe Asians are more immune to this thing than other races.

Bk, you need this thread like a baby needs milk. You need your long weekly argument fix

Very strange post, on many levels.

I'm not seeing the classic.

In case you haven't noticed this thread is fuckin horrible. Mostly we have been discussing practically the same trash we went through already on the Sweden thread.

Oh, I noticed. And I'm thinking this thread should pretty much clinch your phone's victory as ZOTY.

Thanks for your non contributions once again, Mike edwards. It's like you were never even a zoner

Agreed. End thread.

>>> No one was out around here in Halloween <<<

We had spikes from gatherings at Labor Day, at Halloween and we will have them from Thanksgiving. It's shocking that people

1.) need to get together in large groups
2.) without masks
3.) need to be anywhere out of their bubble without masks
4.) think they're safe for some magic reason
5.) don't give a shit about the people around them
6.) and don't wear masks.

If you want to see the spikes and dips in different countries, you can go here:

Scroll down just a bit and you will see a box that says "add a country to all charts" and pick the ones you want to see.   It will give you all the Covid stats and data you want (with the exception of hospitalizations).  For example, I picked Pakistan as a random example and found this chart:

None. How many lives have you saved?

Well we helped finish a hospital on time that was meant to be a covid wing so I probably saved more lives than I know.

Seeing that many patients have died on ventilators I didn't know hospitals were still using them.

Many people die who are receiving chemotherapy also, ever wonder why?

>>>Phil is charging 250$ for Phil and sons?<<<

No.

Most of the shows they've done were $170, and that was for two tickets. The most recent shows with Phil were $225 for two, but the entire point of those shows was to make some money for the musicians and staff, and they were only selling 70 tix total.

It costs money in two dozen ways to put on even a small show, so to generate enough money selling only 70 tickets to pay the musicians, the restaurant, kitchen & venue staff along with the bills they had to charge more than what would be "normal". They didn't call them benefit concerts, but that's what they were.

It was a good & successful effort, where many people got some paychecks they wouldn't have otherwise gotten. Good job Phil & Jill.

As for the COVID "conversation", it seems to me that maybe almost as important as a working vaccine would be a simple, accurate test that we could all take at home and know the results right away. If we had that and almost everyone took the test then almost everyone would know if they were positive, and they could quarantine themselves until they got better, tested negative or died.

I don't know if that's just a fantasy or if smart people are working on that too, but the main issue from the start has been that contagious people don't know they're contagious, so even with masks, social distancing, even shutting down most everything it's still spreading around. But if there was a way for virtually everyone to test themselves easily with immediate results, that could dramatically reduce contagious people roaming the streets, which would dramtically reduce the spread.

Professional sports is demonstrating this basic concept. By quickly identifying who is contagious and getting them away from the general population baseball was able to get through their season with very little issue, basketball in a bubble situation had almost no issues and even football is getting through their season, where every team has well over 100 people matriculating around each other every day.

Why is it working? Because the professional sports industry is worth billions so they're all getting tested every other day. Unfortunately that won't work for hundreds of millions of regular people, but a simple home test might just work in getting the vast majority of contagious people out of circulation while contagious.

To my small, amateur's mind, that along with having a vaccine that works would be the most (only?) effective way of actually getting past this thing.

But of course for any of this to work then everyone will have to work together, and if good ol' DonnyT has done anything, he's exposed just how divided we are, and how many people simply will not do what they are told is for the greater good, especially if it's the evil government telling them to do it.

I love it when Dr Timpy shows up. He got his degree from Granada University Online, all courses of study on the broken phone.

It's probably because chemo isn't really an effective treatment for cancer. Just like ventilators for covid.

;)

I agree, Lance. I think the lack of testing now some nine months later is a show of complete incompetence from state and municipalities. State of NJ received 10 billion from the fed and didn't provide nearly a tenth of the tests needed.

Timpy, you threw out some bait earlier but no one bit. Will you chum the waters again with it, maybe even start its own thread? That's the lost gold right there.

You def should stick to painting things

I don't enjoy it myself but I get that many do enjoy the constant parry/thrust on these threads, but does it ALWAYS have to be that?

And I'm not so sure it's incompetence with testing. Given that tests always have to go through a lab it's not realistic to accurately test millions & millions of people, especially with quick results.

Not everything bad is because of incompetence, neglect or greed.

Well, maybe greed.

Carry on.

Yea, I tend to cross the line from time to time. I'm no perfect human being or anything.

As far testing, I don't understand why South Korea can test people three times a day but in NJ you can barely get one unless you wait in a line for four hours or most cvs and Walgreens is a few days to a week wait.

Well, you're just a kid Timpane.

Room to grow.

And maybe the Koreans are lying.

Asians are just more immune to covid lance. That and China is lying too. Soon the Asian race will rise up and enslave the rest of the world.

This is only the beginning

The Yellow Peril.

The Russians just started mass vaccinations using some home grown concoction that hasn't been completely tested.

The British are going to start vaccinations using the Pfizer formula on Tuesday.

>While countries around the world anxiously await the arrival of a vaccine for the coronavirus, a growing slice of the Chinese population has reportedly already been vaccinated. In an interview last week with the Sichuan Daily, the chair of the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm Group said that its Covid-19 vaccines have been used by nearly 1 million people in China.

The vaccinations have occurred as part of an emergency use program that began in late July, though few details about it have been revealed by the Chinese government. What we do know is that as part of the program, China’s State Council authorizedhigh-risk groups including medical workers, customs officials, and transportation workers to start receiving one of three Chinese-made vaccines — two from Sinopharm and one produced by Sinovac. But some Chinese cities have also been offering the vaccines to members of the public.

So far, the vaccines appear to have been administered in a decentralized fashion, with a handful of local governments officially announcing availability. People have rushed to queue up for a dose even though transmission remains very low in China and the safety and efficacy of the vaccines has yet to be proven...

Pence Says It's A 'Season Of Hope,' While CDC Officials Warn Of COVID-19 Surge

Vice President Pence traveled to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on Friday for a briefing, saying America is "in a season of hope" and "help is on the way" with emergency use authorization for the first coronavirus vaccine potentially less than two weeks away.

But what Pence heard from some of the nation's top public health officials was a grim assessment of the current state of the pandemic.

https://www.npr.org/2020/12/05/943291493/pence-says-its-a-season-of-hope...

More like A Season Of Dope....

Damn, Pence quoted GD.

Was watching a video on the Pfizer vax. It's pretty complicated and there's a six day period or something like where a couple thousand doses need to be administered, after that they are trash.

^Lady on the bottom has good zoner form

A lot of talk since this pandemic using the word "selfish".. Is there really anything more selfish than shutting down the economy in which people live off of and depend their living on while offering no relief to anyone who will be hurting badly from it while being able to work from home and quarantine until a vaccine comes out?

Timpane, nothing else matters to government bureaucrats. Not small businesses, not people's livelhoods, not the tens of millions of jobs and health insurance and money for food, shelter and education. And definitely not people who are so scared and programmed that they won't visit a doctor or hospital for their ailments.

"Children are the most important thing we have. They are our future". I always knew this was bullshit propoganda delivered by the virtue crowd but this crisis has proven that aging entitled baby boomers are first (what else is new), unions are second, and children somewhere way down below. Who cares if they have been emotionally and psychologically crushed. At least the little fuckers now know where they stand.

So please, let's not talk about using data to create well informed series of checks and balances that make our society better. That's madness and crazy talk. Better to let our faithful leaders throw a scary wet blanket over us all. They know what's good for us.

Just stay inside at home, until the the government and the pharma machine waves it magic wand. And then and only then, should CNN and the New York Times give their approval, shall it be OK to venture out into the plagued infested Mad Max streets of our nation. Do your part, just like in WW2, except that instead of making ball bearings, you should be sitting on your couch arguing with people Twitter, eating Pringles. Be a hero.

So please stop this talk or we'll need to report you to one of the COVID infraction hotlines. I don't want to be a Karen but I'll do it, for America.

The 'economy' is a collective term so by just using basic logic, no shutting the down the economy is the opposite of being selfish.

.. Is there really anything more selfish than shutting down the economy in which people live off of and depend their living...

yes

we live in a failed state.

how come none of the journalists that have access to capitol hill are asking why all the other rich nations, canada, germany, france, uk, fucking ireland, etc. have monthly stimulus checks?

Jonas

If you are privileged enough to sit in your house and know that you're able to pay bills, put food on the table and be ok with or without working and just watch people suffer around you and wait for a vaccine than that is the definition of selfishness no matter how you would like to justify it. Try to understand that.

Couldn't have said it any better, JP. The media creates the arguments now and then the people on Twitter and Facebook carry them out to meaningless ends while nothing gets solved. Great world we live in.

Sacrifice is what defines a hero. You take a bullet to save someone else's life. The working class has always been taught that sacrifice is a good thing--organized religion was a big driving force behind this idea--but the fat cats were always taught they didn't have to sacrifice. It was their God-given right.

We're the real heroes in this scheme, if that's any consolation.

Sorry but that it the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard. Sitting in your house eating and being privileged to work at home isn't any kind of real sacrifice. So you can't go out to eat and play? Oh boo hoo. The people who are being forced to shutdown their lively hoods and whom have lost their jobs are  ones who are actually sacrificing everything and losing everything.

Sitting there like a fat cat watching tv is "sacrificing" nowadays, lol

I've worked everyday since the pandemic. I've had to reivent myself and my business daily just to keep the doors open.  I know it's not the same for the salaried employees but my overhead stays the same -- in fact increased - while my gross drops.  Paycheck?  Lol...what's that?

How can you survive without a paycheck?

>>>>>this crisis has proven that aging entitled baby boomers are first (what else is new)

Not so. Can't get a test because we are retired and don't have to go to work. We are in the next to last group to get the vaccine. Hospitals are full, so we just hope we don;t get sick when we have to go to the store and there are maskless and non-distancing folks swirling all around us.

>>>>>how come none of the journalists that have access to capitol hill are asking why all the other rich nations, canada, germany, france, uk, fucking ireland, etc. have monthly stimulus checks?

I know you don't watch her, but Maddow has been covering this all week.

It's because of Bitch McYertle.

How can you survive without a paycheck?>>>

Exactly, lol. That's why the whole "essential worker" is just a load of horseshit. If you need to work everyday to pay your bills then it's essential. It doesn't matter the nature of what you're doing. Might be hard for older folks who's are in decent posistions to understand that. Not everyone has that luxury.

Sorry to hear that Jonas. Hope you get some kind of relief from the nation and state level in which you been paying your hard earned dollars to your whole life.

> The people who are being forced to shutdown their lively hoods and whom have lost their jobs are  ones who are actually sacrificing everything and losing everything.

I don't disagree, not entirely at least, but most small business owners aren't fat cats. They're petite bourgeoisie at best, but most of them don't really own the means of production or hold any real power. They're just a notch above the working class, and, as jonas illustrates above, have their own kinds of problems.

You might want to consider lashing out at the fat cats, Timpane, instead of directing your ire at people who are in the trenches with you.

<<<<>>>>

know you don't watch her, but Maddow has been covering this all week.

It's because of Bitch McYertle.

<<<<>>>>
bwahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha.

thanks for that, surf.

What makes him bringing up Rachel Maddow, funny?

msnbc has done more for the ruling class than you can even imagine.

maddow is part of the problem.

the entire corporate media world doesn't want any change -- you don't see that, jr?

they don't care about you or i. they work for their billionaire masters, so they can collect their multi million dollar entertainment deals. it's that simple. maddow and her kind are frauds. straight up.

incredible this even needs to be spelled out for you.

A lot of small business owners are working class, no? I dk, I guess I just don't u sweat and what the fuck is going in our world anymore, Mike Edwards. It seems th at most people are ok with it but I don't get it.

^a failed state. what the fuck is going on?

america is done.

thank you republicans and democrats in congress. you have failed. you should all be fired and replaced.

i can't even post my real thoughts......

Let it rip, ogkb. I'm interested what your real thoughts might be. Burn it all down and start all over again ala Tyler Durden?

And Timpane, it's like John Lennon sang in Revolution: We're doing what we can. Just getting by day by day and hoping the world doesn't come crashing down around us.

i hope mcconnell and pelosi and all the other fucks get covid and die.

there i said it.

fuck em up. they're letting america die.

same should go for them.

> Hope you get some kind of relief from the nation and state level

Toast to hopeless hope!

I'm a realist -  I know no one has my back and I've conditioned myself to that.   No PPE loans -- as I read fine print and intend on weathering this storm. "Nothing is for free" - should be the mantra.    Everyday it seems as though we make it up as we go along.  I see all sides.  I can only react and live in my situation while considering that I'm lucky to be open and have a roof over my head.

OG - realize that no one is your friend on the federal side.  Locally you might have a few politicians that most certainly support the community but on a federal level you're a fool to think that there is a concern on the individual level.   That being said we went way wrong thinking that Hillary and Trump are the same person and we are currently paying the price.

good luch jonas

its cute that the corporate media is now referred to as the liberal media..

quite the feat right there...

I/we made major changes and over come the financial losses after Hurricane Katrina.

Real sacrifice.

Dig your typed words, Jonas.

> they're letting america die.

We're the 99%, and yet we can't wrest power away from the fat cats. Why is that?

We've become complacent, for the most part. We go through life hypnotized by all the shiny objects the 1% dangle in front of us and we eat that shit up. We're a nation of shoppers, and it's gotten so bad that we can't even imagine another way to live.

Consumerism has become the opiate of the masses.

yeah b/c liberals keep voting for corporate dems (republicans).

when will it stop?

When the thing finally crumbles, and another thing replaces what we had for a hot minute.

My suggestion is to learn Chinese. Both kinds would be good.

Thanks Turtle and Jaz.

In the end we all want the same.  How to get there is really anyone's guess....

I think that a good start is to recognize the successes that we've had, and build off of them. The fact is that things in the US are better now, for more people, than they have been at any time in history. There are fewer in poverty, quality of lives are higher, there's less crime, illegal immigration, sexism, racism, abilism, and gender inequity. Granted, we started from a pile of shit and have a long way to go, but it's important to ask how we got to this point. What worked? How can we build off of that? What worked but has now become a distant memory? Why? What is still holding us back?

Why did the Democratic Party "abandon" the middle class? Why are unions less powerful? Did we reach some unspecified goals and then give up? How do we get back to it? What has worked in ther past, and how do we expand off of it?

> There are fewer in poverty

That's not correct. As the population has grown, so has the number of people in poverty, but more significantly, the rate of people in poverty has remained roughly the same over the last 50 years or so. It sits at about 10% with some fluctuation, no matter what's going on in the world, or who's in office. Povery is baked into the system.

What I've concluded is that our lifestyle requires an underclass.

>>What I've concluded is that our lifestyle requires an underclass.

You're absolutely correct. Our system was built on the backs of underclasses, and even worse, slaves.(who weren't even in the class system).

Although I'm not sure if our lifestyle requires underclasses. People like Bezos and Gates, however, do. There's no way to have hundreds of billions without treating peopler like shit. Fuck it, I'm no economist.

my suggestion is stop being a corporate apologist.

<<<>>>There's no way to have hundreds of billions without treating peopler like shit.

correct.

I'm a realist. I challenge you to provide me with one instance of me being a "corporate apologist."

and there's the issue.

not supporting sanders in the primary = corporate apologist.

look at bidens cabinet so far -- it's an all star cast of neoliberal fucks that don't give a fuck about you or me.

they care about continuing the status quo, creating an even wider wealth gap.

leaked audio from a biden meeting yesterday proves that when he said nothing will fundementally change, he was dead serious.

>>not supporting sanders in the primary = corporate apologist.

That, my friend, is a huge jump in reasoning, and it's both unfair and erroneous.

no, it isn't.

enough of the bs man.

Democrats love poor people.

dems hate poor people but pretend to represent them.

gop just straight up say we hate you.

It's very false, ogkb, and shows a limited understanding of outr system. It's very strange that you judge based on one vote, rather than the hundreds of other check marks over the years.

no, it isn't.

you keep saying that, but you push neolibs at the only option for pres when that isn't the case.

this shows your disconnect to the electorate -- leftist policy is the most popular -- red or blue doesn't matter.

when we have the corporate media feeding your brain bs (not you) 24/7/365, msnbc saying how shitty bernie is, fighting their hardest to stop real change -- well, here we are.

if you suppor neoliberals, your part of this problem. enough is enough. no more beating around the bush.

either help, or you're on the wrong side.

Yea, I knew that poverty wasn't lowered at all. It just keeps getting worse. After this pandemic is all played through and out we can guess it will be much much worse.

>> Unspecified goals>>>

I think we could start right there. The federal government should explain what their true goals are. We know that they pretty much are just a big lobby company for large industrial business such as military and oil producers. They should just admit their wrongs and we could go from there. As long as they continue bush and play out the same stupid game with dems vs republicans we will most likely just keep chasing our tails in a circle.

almost 10mil thrown into poverty so far in america during pandemic.

15mil lost health insurance -- and there's some fucks here that still think we shouldn't have m4a. it won't work in america! socialism! booooo! seriously, fuck you. the lines have been drawn.

we know who is, and isn't, on our side.

>>this shows your disconnect to the electorate -- leftist policy is the most popular -- red or blue doesn't matter.

A few leftist policies are extremely popular, but the electorate doesn't like leftists, nor does it identify as far to the left. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger. That's why I'm asking how to buold off of some positives and get that shift.

Poor people make Democrats wealthy.

I count 44 times the word neo-liberal was used in the above posts.  get a new word heater.

Neo Liberal should be in the zoner dictionary

And rage zoning too, if it's not in there already.

jr -- try thinking for once.

From the article:

Geraci notes that is more frequent than what was recorded in the COVID-19 vaccine trial.

“Four persons out of almost 40,000 is even less than what we would expect to see when we take 40,000 people from the street and watch them for three months” independent of a vaccine, he said. He also emphasized that there were not enough cases to determine whether they were caused by the vaccine or happened coincidently.

Lol. Guy played the "coincidence" card. Get ready to roll the dice ol Brian boy

It's okay, Timpy, by the time my number comes up about 100 million people will have received it before me, over a 5 month period. We'll know more about safety.

You didn't even read the article, did you?

Is depheater'd still crying about Bernie? LOL

I did, BK. It's very reassuring and comforting. All so comforting right up to the point when it happens to you. I like your boomer approach though. "If somebody else gets fucked it's ok because I'll still be fine. Lol.

You guys getting a big storm up their today?

Any time there's a new vaccine people freak out. I'd go get it today, if I could, because I'm Gen X. I'm willing to risk it, for the Boomers and Millennials.

We'll get somewhere between nothing and 16". It's one of those storms where it all comes down to the track, and how long it lingers.I'm guessing 1-3".

Same here. So far not one snowflake and even some clear skies but all the soccer moms have raided stores for paper products, milk, bread and eggs.

Looks like folks are playing nice here today. wtf?

Those of you who live in the storm track, stay safe out there today.

^ 75% of the posts are you, BK, pyramid and myself. We don't need to get butt sore all the time do we?

15% of posts are lltds psychosis

That leaves only 10% for the rest of us.

That's probably enough.

I never thought this thread would get to 100 posts, and definitely didn't think it would hit 200, and yet here we are on the brink of it.

This thread should be celebrated, Mike.

No doubt, Ned. Maybe it can share July 12th with National Eat Your Jello Day.

didn't think it would hit 200>>

Maybe not my best work but still a better thread than Bk's new ass cleaning machine

More vaccine fun. So when we reach 70% vaccination of the country? Anyone know a timeline foe that?

hi ned.

have you been paying attention to the cabinet appointments. i know you are foaming at the mouth over these corporate hack appointments, and you and daddy have convinced yourselves that it's better than trump and co. -- but the thing is, it's not.

thank you for holding back the county -- maybe it will burn sooner than later.

This thread could use an ass cleaning machine.

>have convinced yourselves that it's better than trump and co. -- but the thing is, it's not. <

You cannot be foolish enough to believe that.

Is it the ideal cabinet? No.

Is it better than the Trump administration? Absolutely.

Only a fool, or a Trumpist, would disagree.

what's up mr. pelosi.

how are you today?

remember -- you green-lit all of trumps evil budgets.

good job, you little trumpist lol.

Mr. Pelosi  is it?

You're at it again, eh?

Can't criticize my position,  so you misrepresent my position and criticize the false narrative you create.

Weak minded fool, you are.

And utterly clueless regarding how our government functions.

You seem proud of your ignorance

i don't know how it works! hahahahaha.

that's all you have, your corporate apologist.

we can't fight for what the people want b/c.........

you are the issue.

dude, you couldn't even decide on a candidate in the primary.

fucking grow up and stand for something.

weak.

>I don't know how it works! hahahahaha.

that's all you have<

You don't, and you prove it and on a daily basis.

> you couldn't even decide on a candidate in the primary<

So? I wasn't happy with any of them. It just bothers you that I believe Sanders is unelectable, and that he lost to a centrist.  But my support for any one candidate is irrelevant because Biden had the nomination before the Jersey primary, and I didn't vote in the primary.

from another dbmb:

The new vaccines are indeed a technological innovation. NO vaccine has ever been fast tracked like these vaccines under Operation Warp Speed. It's no exaggeration to call them a medical miracle. They are made through genetic sequencing, so they are extremely accurate, similar to the PCR diagnostic test. The new vaccines use messenger RNA, not a deactivated virus, to instruct our immune system to produce antibodies, so the side effects should be much less risky. Enzymes in our bodies then destroy the mRNA. The efficacy is extremely high for a vaccine, approximately 95%. The first shot has been shown to reduce asymptomatic spread of the virus by 66%; not bad. However, you can still get the infection after the first shot; you do not have immunity. You need the second shot and then, after another 7 days, you will be at the 95% immunity to the virus. But, how long does that last? Some have suggested it will last a lifetime. I think that it is more likely that we will need an annual COVID shot, just like we do the Flu. If you have already tested positive for COVID, you still need the vaccine. If you are significant allergies and carry an Epi pen, consult with your physician as to whether the first vaccine is right for you. The second vaccine, which will be approved this week, has been shown to have less side effects for those with significant allergies. The next 6-10 weeks are going to the worst of the pandemic. Please take every precaution that you can to avoid the virus because the models project hospitals will be at 125% capacity in the next two weeks. That means if you get the infection and need to be hospitalized, then won't have any available beds or ICU capacity; don't put yourself or your family in that position. Get the vaccine as soon as it is available for you. Be safe - Dex

Last a lifetime>>>

That may sound nice and hopefully but realistically I doubt that's how the vaccine will work. It's already been proven that the virus has mutated at least once. Most likely we won't know much until a years time has passed as how the vaccine will work against mutated forms of covid. My guess is most likely there will be a new vaccine for next year and possibly many years to come but as stated the technological advancements being made with the vaccines will help seeing that the funding for these covid vaccines is practically unlimited. This will most likely create better and more efficient vaccines not just for covid but other viruses as well.

My brother got the vaccine today.  I will let you all know if there are problems.

Timpy is sexy when he's intellectual.

Meh.  Better than him attempting funny again.

^ Sweet lurking, bradi

bluest is a total grinch.

They used polyethylene glycol as the carrier and a number of people are allergic to that including two people I know. Also in the Moderna version. They're waiting to hear about the Astrazeneca.

Looks like they're looking into whether or not the manufacturers used it to dilute the vaccine during production. Some old school drug dealing tactics.

Cut that shit, sling that shit dawg
