Covid vaccine booster

Forums:

It appears I'm being offered a third vaccination, a booster, because I've had anti-cancer treatment within the last year. I see no reason not to go for it. I had very little side effects from the first two (Pfizer) and hope it'll be the same or less. Hope, but we'll see.

Anyone else getting one?

I probably will around 8 months after the first vaccination, that is the recommendation. That would be November timeframe for me.

I got my second in March, so not 8 months. I've asked my PCP for his opinion of doing it now - I imagine I'll hear back from him in the next couple of days.

No talk of boosters for J&J, because it's under-studied. I'll take a Moderna and a Pfizer.

i think if i still have to wear a mask in the gorcery store, im going to skip it out of spite for my county health officials. my death will totally own the nanny state libs, they will never recover from a burn as sick as this burn will be

A friend of my wife who has just been diagnosed with lung cancer (only smoked weed, never cigs) got the booster.  On a side note, this person has also had covid twice (before the vaccine was available).

I plan to get it as soon as it's available for 'just anyone'.

J , goes withoutsaying, always wishing you the best.. I'll wait till the Moderna is available next month,.  No health issues for the early booster here. Vibes to your wife's friend, Hall.

My doc wrote back and said I'm eligible for the booster, would I like to come in on Thursday? Yes, appointment made. I thought I would go as a walk-in to the pharmacy but I like him so I'll go over there. While I'm there I'll ask him how people responded to his email (the one I posted last week) and how many people got vaccinated. He said in today's email that the vaccination clinic is completed so he'll have info to give me.

He also said "Reactions from the third shot are arm soreness similar to the first shot and not as bad as the second shot." My first shot was very easy, not even any arm soreness. I have a chiropractic appointment an hour and a half after the shot, I'm counting on no problem.

Hall, no one would say you're "just anyone", but I get it. I hope A's friend has success in her/his recovery.

Last January when I was able to get the covid vaccine I realized I need to catch up. Also got two shingles vaccine shots and  first newmoanyacockle(snicker)pneumonia shot.

Side effects from all. Very doable and zero regrets.

 I will get a third. I'm at 7 months today - Pfizer

Sign me up. Fuck going on a ventilator.

Hall is just anyone.

There I said it.   :)

But yeah....like Hall, I'll get it when they offer it to me.  They say 6-20% range of breakthrough cases for vaccinated (much less chance of dying or ventilator madness which is the important part).   Still gathering numbers but I'm concerned about those who can't get vaccinated for medical reasons or are too young.    My youngest starts school today in Georgia.  Thank goodness they are required to wear a mask.

Also, my work just mandated vaccines to come into the office.  I think my coworker who doesn't want to go back to the office may not upload his vax card.  I feel like we're starting to live a bit like the sneeches.

ha!

Went down to Ft. Myers last weekend to check the status of our new home, yea drywall is up.

Stayed at a nice hotel and when I woke up after the first night had a terrible sinus infection, my first thought was the AC fucked up my Sinus. Stayed another night and it did not get better and I lost my sense of smell, and then could not taste anything. Wife is now showing the same symptoms. Went to CVS and got a self testing swab kit and ran a test, and it came back negative, ha my Trump buddy told me they were all rigged to produce positive results. Anyway we are going to test my wife next, and see how that goes.

I will get a booster when available

1st week of '22.  I'll be there.

Look at all this white privilege.

only 1.3% of low income populations have been vaccinated, and y'all going back for thirds.

Do you know any low income people looking for the vax, Racket?

So it turns out that what I got was not a booster, but a third dose of vaccine. I am glad I'm eligible, but I'm not glad it's based on "anti-cancer treatment within the last year".

Racket, this is U.S. privilege.

Thanks for the link, I thought it was a well-written informative article. I keep learning.
