Creating 304,000 jobs “disrespects workers”

Forums:

Please, never replace Nancy Pelosi.  The woman is pure gold.

“This consistently callous GOP attitude disrespects workers, dishonors our values and damages our economy.”

Bonus point; the jobs report showed that the federal government added 1,000 workers during the month of the shutdown.

Oh yea, wages are up as is the labor force participation rate:

"The number of Americans not in the labor force -- meaning they were neither employed nor looking for a job -- dropped by 639,000 to 95,010,000 in January, a move in the right direction.

Wages continued rising last month: In January, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 3 cents to $27.56, following a 10-cent gain in December. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by 85 cents, or 3.2 percent."

I got a dollar raise.

Pelosi Statement on January Jobs Report

February 1, 2019

San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Department of Labor issued its January jobs statement, which does not include the Trump Shutdown’s impact on the 800,000 federal workers who were furloughed or forced to work without pay for 35 days:

“The January jobs report holds some encouraging news, but it belies the lasting financial damage that the Trump Shutdown has inflicted on hundreds of thousands of Americans across the nation.  Federal workers, many of them veterans, saw their financial security shaken, their credit ratings harmed, and their lives upended by the longest shutdown in history.  And now, with families still hurting, President Trump refuses to take a second senseless shutdown off the table.

“Meanwhile, House Republicans overwhelmingly voted against a pay raise for federal civilian workers, refusing to respect the perseverance and patriotism of the men and women who were just furloughed or forced to work without pay.  This consistently callous GOP attitude disrespects workers, dishonors our values and damages our economy.

“House Democrats are working For The People, moving forward with our bold agenda to lower health costs, raise workers’ wages, and restore integrity to government.  We must keep government open, and keep working to deliver an economy that works for every American, not just the wealthy and well-connected few.”

Thom, what are the False Parts?  (I'm admittedly lazy)

CNS News is considered fake news and propaganda.

You go, librarian!

also they can continue to overpay ceo's and buy up their own stocks...

this is the america thom's people want.

welfare for the rich.

Johnny, thanks for posting the statement. I guess Thom forgot to put

in the sentence that came before the one he quoted, the one about how

the Repubs voted against a modest pay increase for federal workers...

I'm a couple of days into heightened awareness, and my intent / promise not to trash folks

have a great February, ALL of you

Well put, Turtle.

Slowly, I think Americans are starting to realize that the bill of goods we have been sold about trickle-down-economics does nothing for the vast majority of this country. Hopefully the days of voting against their own economic interests are behind us and we can go back to a true era of American prosperity for all, and not just the one percenters.

Almost thirty dollars an hour in no fuggin way reprsents the average hourly wage in the United States.
