Late night NRPS nerd out. Last weekend at David Nelson and Friends Harvest Hootenanny, Mr. Nelson and his band played at least 1 song from every studio album ever recorded by the New Riders of the Purple Sage except for 1. The only album not visited by David Nelson and Friends was 1977’s “Who Are Those Guys?”; which is also the only New Riders album to not feature a single song written by David Nelson or John Dawson. That is just a glimpse into the thought process that goes into writing set lists for this band. We love to hear about what songs you have been waiting to see David perform forever and will continue to bring out material that hasn’t been played in more than a decade, maybe 4 decades… And, after almost a week of research, we believe that Sunday night of the Hootenanny, 11/9, is the most songs David Nelson has ever performed in a single show, with any band, ever. The first person to find a recording of a show where David plays more songs than he did last Sunday will win a David Nelson and Friends Tshirt in the size of their choice; while supplies last.
Thanks for posting this , Chris. I had a blast hanging with Woz and Mark and the new friends I made. Michelle if you’re out there I'm hugging your neck. Fucking great shoes.
