On this day in 2021, I'm going to see Garth Brooks! Should be a good time, but warm. U of U stadium show won't start til at least 8:00. Yee haw!

^^Chris Gaines opening?

On this day in 1070, Arnulf III the Hapless becomes Earl of Flanders.

No Bluest, no one is opening due to the high temps (99 right now). Usual show start time of 7 is being pushed back to 8....at least.

From the KUTV report...

He said the show isn't likely to start on time but just after show time they will get data from the gate about how many people have entered the stadium and when the percentage reaches a certain point, it will be time to go.

"Our thing is, come when it's a little cooler. The most important part is: This is a party, this is fun, this is supposed to be all joyful stuff. Why bake ourselves out here when we have time to do it? We were already planning on staying too late and playing too long anyway, so this will be fun."

I'm sure Garth Brooks is OK with no one remembering Chris Gaines.smiley

(Unless there are royalties to be had.)

Bluest, I heard a story that when Garth first started, Capitol Records pulled backed all promo $$$ and put every promo penny they had into pumping Garth.

One casualty was New Grass Revival’s “Friday Night In America.”

Garth felt really bad about that as it was the first time an album of theirs was climbing the charts and he loved NGR and had a relationship with them.

So he pulled ‘em back into the studio after they had split up, re-recorded “Callin’ Baton Rouge” with supposedly everything the same except him singing, and put it on his “Greatest Hits” album which sold 5 hundred bazillion copies. The NGR boys are probably still getting royalty checks. That’s the kind of guy he is. At least to my knowledge. One of the reasons I like him. He was an NGR fan, and took care of them.
