I thought last year was well run

just got to hide from the heat (and camp ground cyclones)...

No DNB this year?

Is the "coming soon" box covering up DNB's name?  Just wishing!

Because of Melvin and Kimock, I'll still add it to my summer music calendar, especially since I'm not going to the final String Summit.

This lack-of-DNB lineup also elevates that Soul Revival event in Ukiah w/ 2 nights of DNB in April!

my take is that DNB will play only if Moonalice is also in the lineup

hope I'm wrong

Coming soon = Kingfish

Early bird passes on sale at 10AM PST today -- less than an hour away!

Early birds now sold out, Tier 1 in effect.

Is Jerry playing? Otherwise snooooooooozer fest

^^^^ 1 double hammock with every 3-day pass.

Perfect!

$329.43 for a 3-day ... roughly the same daily rate as $436.55 for a 4-day pass at Skull & Roses.

$30 for camping if you have a vehicle 21' or less, so that's less than Ventura if you fit, but RV passes are as much as $350 + fees

So, you could get by for $375 with camping, which isn't all that bad as a total out the door outlay in comparison to Ventura ... but no Phil is the glaring difference!

> snooooooooozer fest

Really, Woz? I've always seen you as an uber fan who finds the good in just about everything live music-wise.

I like most of the bands on the bill, but it's much like Skull and Roses - too much of the same thing to camp for three days in the extreme summer heat. How many Scarlet Begonias can you hear in one day?

We went to Days Between last year and it was fun, but was hot and dusty with very little food and drink. This year

opting for Skull and Roses. Cool coastal zone w a beach, bike path and lots of hotels, food and drink options. Might even get in some surf.

ymmv

first things first: I'm prioritizing that DNB X2 fest in Ukiah in April.... then will see how things shake out for Days Between.... not doing Skull & Roses, as I'm waiting to see if there's a Phil announcement elsewhere.

Yes, like a PLF show at a Bay Area theatre we all know and love!

wow I just got the Days Between email about volunteering and vendors and noted that one of our beloved Zoners is the star of the email!

He was destined for stardom.....

ha ha, look he's on the interwebs!

^^^ WALSTIB = What A Lysergic Super T-shirt I Bought

Nice, Gary, Mark, Turtle..

Ha

a psychedelic upgrade...

that artist had the trippiest tees

Now that's some quality advertising. I think we will try to vend or volunteer this year. Or maybe next...

Update: Days Between Fest announced today that they are selling single-day tickets.

Final lineup > https://daysbetweenfest.com/artists/

Maybe they should announce the daily performers schedule before selling day tickets. Just sayin'.

This morning's update:

WE HAVE TWO BIG FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Hey now, Days Between Friends! We're just ONE MONTH away from THE Dead family gathering of the summer, and we have two BIG festival announcements. In addition to 3-Day Festival Passes, we are pleased to announce that a limited number of Single Day Tickets have just been released.

Our second big announcement is more of a "Thank You" for being the best community on lot and on the road. In honor of Jerry's 80th Birthday, we are excited to share a special Friends & Family code that will give you and your friends access to discounted 3-Day Festival Passes to The Days Between.

USE CODE: JERRY80

Don't miss your chance to get on the bus! Visit www.daysbetweenfest.com and enter JERRY80 on the ticketing page to receive your discounted 3-Day Festival Passes.

The Friends & Family code expires at midnight on Friday, July 22, so don't delay.

** I put a pass in the cart, the Jerry80 code gives you $10 off of a 3-day pass.

No spot taken, yet.

A whole ten dollars! Wow!

I need to know when the schedule is posted.

^ Ditto

and the weather report

let me know if an arctic cold front is expected

> let me know if an arctic cold front is expected

That would make this festival a lot more attractive to me.

> let me know if an arctic cold front is expected

It was warm at the fest last year but it wasn't crushing and it wasn't humid due to the elevation there.

Accuweather monthly forecast predicts low 80s with nighttime temps in upper 40s.  Perfect!

I attended any a festival at the old Hog Farm. Way too hot and dusty for me. I'll pass.

Nice to see the Banana Slug String Band still doing their thing. Saw them at Strawberry, Labor Day 1988.

Hey! Is that Painted Mandolin from the Zone on the bill???  I'm sure he'll have free tix for all Zoners!  LOL

Which Zoners do plan on attending?

I just got offered a pass in exchange for helping out at a photo gallery booth!

It would be more entertaining than any other kind of booth as visitors will tell stories.

Vendor camping area, too. i'm

Think I might go for it if it aligns with my real job.

DaysBetweenFest sent an email this morn.

The discount code JERRY80 is still in effect through July 22 for 3-day passes.

I committed to helping out at the photo booth, so stop by to see some stunning b/w art prints of GD tour images + other artists from the 80s.

They are adding a post-show "monitored community fire circle and jam" down by the creek.

This is also is the best weekend to see the Perseid meteor showers!

Update of the week... I've never seen this bass up close

Kimock out

Covid

8/4 Felton show rescheduled as Zero on 10-16

FROM FB:

Dear Days Between Family,

We regret to announce that Steve Kimock & Friends will not be performing Saturday, August 6th at The Days Between due to Covid. We wish Kimock a speedy recovery and hope to have him back at the ranch soon.

Luckily, a fantastic new plan has quickly come together. As a replacement, we are happy to announce the NEW Days Between all-star house band — Skeleton Crew featuring Barry Sless, Mookie Siegel, Bobby Vega, John Molo, & special guests who have graciously agreed to join us at the jubilee.

This supergroup is dead to the core and will honor the music and memory of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Don't miss them light up the Black Oak Stage on Saturday night, August 6th, before DSO.

We look forward to having an incredible night of tasty jams and spinning dizzy underneath the beautiful Northern California sky. See you there!

Kindly,
The Days Between Team

good name/band...

Phil should play, now that Kimock won't be there   haha

So basically, Vega is taking Sears' place in a Nelson-less DNB, while Sears currently takes Bobby's place in Zero. Weird, man.

Except Zero gigs have been canceled due to COVID so unless Pete has the 'vid he should be free.

Pete has covid

And Jeff Mattson is out due to a death in his family. He's being replaced in DSO by Stu Allen at the Winery and the Days Between Festival.

I would be super bummed if going. But they did a good job at replacing on short notice. (Kimock )

Had a real good time this past weekend.  Highlights for me were: The Skeleton Crew subbing for Kimock (Sless, Mookie, Molo, Vega); DSO Night two, with a nice slice of Shining Star, Imagine, Alligator in the 2nd set; Jackie Greene played a good set and Melvin & JGB closed out with a good dance party.  Hot but not too hot.  Being able to swim in the river this year was a savior.

Agree, me too... but I had to leave early on Sunday because of my job schedule in Portland.

Skeleton Crew and that Alligator were my highlights, as were other JGB tunes like Run for the Roses.

I was able to camp behind the photography booth under a huge old laurel tree, so it was the easiest fest I've attended in a long while.

Heat was manageable and the entire fest was super chill, friendly and well-organized.
