It's been a blast couch surfing this tour, I really think this has been the bands best work!  Highlights from the east coast tour included that rain shortened 2nd set, though the playing has been dynamic and refreshing throughout.  The entire west coast half has been a treat!  Seemed like they kicked it up a notch in the Gorge, and I was at the spacey well jammed Autzen show (still my fave of the tour, keep listening to that second set).  Dodger stadium and Albuquerque also stand out shows.  (Last night was great, but haven't listened to it back yet, missed some parts).

Just wanted to say thanks Noodler for posting stream links and setlists for all these DeadCo shows on the current tour. Nice contribution to this site.  yes

Too kind!  I first started out on the other site 20 years ago (more?), never used my account much to comment, but have always come for the streams!  (Taper Rob was my hero!).   There wasn't much social media back then  (newsgroups, then blogs), so this was a great source.  Now there's so many internet radio stations, twitter and FB, etc, all kinds of great live music going literally going 24 / 7.   So been a pleasure to pay homage to this great site by posting for a tour.  Long live the Dead!

Yes, impressive work here, Noodler.

A buddy who was there last night was gripin' about a sloppy show... I haven't heard any of it, but lets get this party started and go out with a BANG (if thats possible).

Just wanna bang on that drum all day....

Yes, great job , Noodler, much appreciated

Well Done  yes

I have a hankering for Me and My Uncle tonight

Set 1

China Cat

wow, started way earlier than last night...   missed the actual start

Mexico dates drop tomorrow.

Playin in The Sand x2

MLK weekend

then 2 weeks later

It's a shame they picked Trey over John for Fare Thee Well.  John has a better feel for this music, and it might have given Phil enough reason to stay in the band.

Set 1

China >

Rider

Shakedown

Yep, I'm in the crowd of Noodler fans! Thanks.

Another big thanks to Noodler for setting up these links.  I've been on couch tour since Alpine and have been enjoying hearing these guys develop alot.  It's starting to feel like we've got our band back.

I think Phil screwed the pooch on this one.

Dave- you do know that Phil is 78 and has the club and fam and millions of dollars, right?

Yeah, I know all that Earl, he's more or less retired.  I'd just rather see him with these guys than the TFB.

This has been an impressive old-school 22-show grinder for Bobby and the OtherTwo Old Farts. The kind that became "stultifying" for Jerry.

These setlists are becoming more and more Furthur-like, in my opinion

And that's a good thing

That one rivals Eugene.  Nice way to cap a solid tour.

That was so amazing. There's nothing I can say except that I am so glad I got to be there. Best concert I've seen in a while. The band was happy and Boulder showed love.

The energy and love from the crowd during that picture was off the charts. Everybody was clapping, screaming, hugging, smiling and Grateful once again. The Boulder energy vortex danced with the Muse last night.

It was fun to watch^....and they deserved, and got, that second encore...i was struck w UJB chosen as song to close tour, is it the passing of the torch from bobby to John? And then to come out for second encore? As they were walking off after UJB , you could see how the crowd was effecting the band members...especially john, mickey, and billy, who were all very animated and itd my guess, and nothing more, that they were instrumental in decision to come back out for Ripple.

No Fall tour.....so who even knows if Mexico and any Festivals upcoming could be end of road for these guys....if not, we ll see them next spring and/or summer...they def kicked it up a notch this tour, just think---- if they can stay together another 20 years, theyll have lasted as long as late 80 s GD (again, just a reminded how blessed we all are to have been here along for the whole ride)

Fall tour will be announced after LOCKN......bet on it.

^already announced (maybe not by band, but, im assuming it was...i read it yesterday somewhere), no fall tour

Definitely a fun time up in Boulder last night. Saw so many old friends, and the scene was really cool.

The band sounded good. It was fun to see Bob in his element doing big shows again. He looked and sounded great. Drummers were solid, and the "younger guys" all brought a lot of energy to the music. Overall one of the best Dead-related events I've been to in a long time.

They've got all the free official video from the tour up on Jambase right now.  I just watched that China>Rider from last night again.  Holy smokes!

Have to think they solidified their drawing power this tour.  Maybe they'll reconsider a Fall run.

Glad you got a great show Mark, and everybody else there. Looks like this one really smoked. Big crowd. Must've been a blast.

Grateful Dean's review is here. Much different than the review for Friday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GspgZ5ICRXI

And now thanks to the interwebs, I'm downloading the FLACs from the archive link (thanks Nugs) and also received a mp3 download from a great friend. Gotta love it!

Glad it was a good time for you guys who went.

Didn't know you were there last night, Mark! Popped my DeadCo cherry last night. Fun times with old friends, indeed.

Finally met Magee from Utah and had a nice chat before the show. Solid dude.

Ended up in the Catacombs below the Boulderado until bar time. Going to sleep well tonight.

First time for me too, Ned. Wish we had gotten a chance to catch up, man.

One of the things that jumped out at me was how young & enthusiastic the DeadCo crowd is. Very cool to see yet another generation doing hard drugs and dancing awkwardly to Sugar Mags. Warmed my heart, for reals.

Glad you guys all had a good time. cool

>>>Finally met Magee from Utah and had a nice chat before the show. Solid dude.

I second that. Glad he got a good one if you're gonna travel.

Magee is solid as a rock, and can offer an safe port in stormy weather.

He's been payin his dues for a long long time.

:)

Hot off the press, enjoy while it lasts

Hey now Ned.  Glad to hear your first show was memorable and from Grateful Deans review something you will certainly remember. Any chance of a blow by blow review?

Noodler....Thanx for posting the video link above.  Sounds mighty fine to these old ears.

Last night’s show was top notch!

What up KK

Grate show !

Best of the ones I saw this summer.

China - Rider -Shakedown & Scarlet-Franklins-Fire were both interestingly awesome set openers

Loved The UJB encore and then Ripple when it just as easily could have been OMSN-Brokedown. I appreciate shows that get rid of OMSN as a 1st set closer

Sure thing, KK...

I thought the show overall was fun. First set had some nice jams and played longer than it looks on paper.

They did an extended jam before the last verse of China Cat that I though was better than the transition between China>Rider. maybe that was because they were trying to find a way to get to Shakedown (per original set list) but couldn't find their way there. The typical climax jam seemed like a check box, and wasn't really a big build up to it. Rider was great and welcomed by the CO crowd.

Shakedown was just ok. Nothing memorable. Tough to make a Shakedown anti-climatic, but they did it.

BEW-B+

Althea and Cassidy both let the band get back to the energy level reached by the opener. I think Bob tried a slide/solo in Althea and that was not great, but Jeff and Mayer made up for it. Cassidy was played well and the jam went to non-typical places (good).

Saturday Night was both interesting and baffling. It was like they were trying different timings for different verses. Finally after the last verse they dropped into the traditional timing and it closed the set with a bang.

Second set started nicely. Great solo/jam midway through Scarlet. The Franklins was both a pleasant surprise and very well played. They went pretty deep into som eof the jams and it fit well. The only downside was that they started the Franklins cold out of the end of Scarlet. No Scarlet jam AT ALL. After Franklins was over they dropped right into Fire and that was played well.

He's Gone > Other One found the groove. It didn't feel rushed and was played very well. Our group noted the second verse not played and correctly anticipated the conclusion after space. Felt like a Dew was coming, but no such luck. I'm not a big fan of Days, but thought mayer's jam at the end was one of the more unique and sparsely played solos (less not more notes).

Sugar Mags was Sugar Mags and played well.

UJB had a great jam in the middle and drifted out there. Encore did not feel rushed at all, and the Ripple was a cherry on top.

Overall, this band plays well. We were on the floor on the right side (on the ADA riser with gimped friend), but could barely pick out Otiel's playing. As a Phil Lesh nut, this was the only disappointment. Phil's absence makes this band top out at a B+. maybe I just needed more drugs.

They really have invested a lot of creative energy and $$ on the stage set up, which was visually pleasing throughout.

I went to school at C.U. and this was my first concert there. Great place for a show and plenty of room for everyone. If they come back again I will gladly go to one. Would love to see them at Red Rocks, as well.

This^

Like Eggs Benedict with no Hollandaise sauce.

Ned, we were on that riser also. We were working with Participation Row 1st set and got down there for second set. Did your friend have the knee scooter?

He has a bad knee but had the rider scooter. There was three of us. I had a green hat on, glasses, slightly spun.

Mrs Twang parked next to the scooter. I was mostly by the shirtless guy with the Stealie tat. We had matching yellow volunteer shirts on.

I saw you. My friend was the gimp guy. Shirtless guy was his friend from CA.

I wish I knew it was you, would have loved to meet you. I was trying to stay by the back rail to keep open sight lines for the seated.

You'll see us again. Please say hello.

Oteil was quite prominent in the stream I was listening to. He was good enough that I almost forgot it wasn't Phil from time to time.

Almost.

It's been said by many, including myself, that JM didn't have a psychedelic bone in his body.

Well, now he does. 2 or 3 at least. smiley

Was mostly pleased with what I heard, glitches and all. When these guys get rolling they can actually get to some interesting places.

Had an absolute blast in Boulder this week end with some old tour buddies.  Vibe, town, music, weather, dispensaries etc, etc all just exactly perfect..  We hung both nites center / floor about 10 rows back- I really needed to get in front of those huge side video screens that, if I not, I find myself getting tractor beamed into.

Great to finally meet you Ned-  we ended up outside on the patio of the Boulderado Sat nite - for me the evening was too nice to get sucked into the catacombs!- did that the nite before.   Your review was spot on and can add lots of chatting and smiling on stage.  The sound was great for us and Oteil was actually a big part of the mix where we were.  Kept thinking-"it's the last show of the tour-  what do they have to save?!"  Absolutely agree- we were all expecting the Dew as well.

Thanks for the emailed links Slick...... and Steve you got it-  a safe port any time/ any weather..   In fact, both of you keep Sept 15 open-  looks like we're having another big get together at the Ranch- details to follow.

Until the next adventure..... adios!

Nice write up Ned. Sounds like many heads are  grooving to this band. With bobby at the top of his game and JM extending leads and going deep the faithful are being rewarded.  Many a good show and a few excellent this go around.  Fingers crossed for a fall tour.
