I just watched/listened to the beginning of that sneak peak of Music Never Stopped.
It's funny how much I like Mayer in this band, considering how much I didn't like him as a player in the past, and how bad I thought he'd be in a Grateful Dead setting.
IMO that little bit at the beginning of the song, before Bob starts singing, is absolutely excellent playing, sharp, gentle, right on the mark, in the moment and flowing easy.
Really good stuff. And the times I've seen this band that's what I normally hear from him.

Because of how he dresses?
And BTW, Bob is singing really well these days.
