After a brief pause, it’s time to return to the beautiful foothills of the Cumberland Mountains at the Allegany County Fairgrounds on September 23-26th.

We’re happy to welcome The Del McCoury Band, The Travelin’ McCourys, The Old Crow Medicine Show, St. Paul &  The Broken Bones, Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, Mandolin Orange, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Lil Smokies, Della Mae, The Cris Jacobs Band, Hot Club of Cowtown, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, The Broomestix, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Steve Poltz, Sister Sadie, Lonesome River Band, Ghost of Paul Revere, Dré Anders, Twisted Pine, Fireside Collective, The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers, Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band, Birches Bend, Haint Blue, Dirty Grass Players, The 19th Street Band, Emcee Joe Craven and many more!

Retirement October 1st, birthday mid-September? With no Targhee Bluegrass Festival this year, it might just be time to dive in and celebrate the return of a festival!

Yeah, this will be strange for sure, but if we get good weather it could be fun. Around that time temps can really vary.  A little early for the trees changing color.  I re-booked our usual hotel up the road.

And if people act like civilized folks. Around that County, the locals don't wear masks much. We went camping up that way this past summer and people were clueless.

If you need any assistance planning, let me know. I've been to a good many of them.

I got tickets for one night of the Del Fest Lite festival they are having for three days at a brewery outside Leesburg VA on Memorial Day weekend. (Del McCoury Band and Gibson Brothers). Outdoors. No camping. Socially distanced. That will be our first live music in a year and a half.

Yeah, I went looking and it looks like about $160 (plus) a night at the Hampton. Wondering about chilly nights in late September.

May end up being too expensive. But any suggestions would be welcome Alan. Thanks for the offer.

I'm thinking about buying a camper van and doing some traveling so THAT may be what happens - in 2022.

Now that's a lineup!

Do they do full sets or short festy sets?

Craving some Leftover Salmon

Have fun.

^ Full sets and often multiple appearances, as they also have indoor late night shows -- I don't know how they will pull that off, as they are usually shoulder to shoulder.

There's a main stage at one end 0f he "racetrack,." a smaller stage outside the grandstand area, and a third stage in the shed/barn.

Lots of camping att he Fairgrounds, some state parks nearby, a few hotel/motels in the nearby towns that raise rates for the fest (Fall is their busy season) and some house rentals.

Everything you would need is there or nearby.

Don't drive drunk after the show -- no visible police presence at the fest but MD State Police / Highway patrol are no one to mess with.

^^ Jump on I 70 in Utah and take it all the way to Maryland. Cumberland is just a a short drive off the Interstate.

^^^ that would be a cool road trip!
how's the humidity at that time of year?

2,000 miles SLC to Cumberland. I'll look at 2022.

It's a nice Venue nestled in between a River and a Mountain.  Great vibe in terms of Scenery and mellow Crowd.

I volunteered the One year I attended,  and worked for my Ticket,  sold Beer.  Not slinging Beer in the lot, which you really would not be able to do.  I was assigned to various Beer-Vending locations,  and it was all Legit.

My job was to check ID and deal Beer.  The customers had to have a Wristband verifying that they were over 21 or whatever Maryland drinking age.  It was all very laid-back, however no compromises on the ID check.

You can play in the River (It's not just a tiny creek) but it is chilly and rapid. People bring Tubes or other floaty devices.

Extremely Mellow crowd.  There were no fights or Mayhem of any sort the year I attended.  Maybe a tiny incident or two from a few people loaded on Moonshine and fell down.

More Bands? DelYeah!!

DelFest has added some incredible musicians to this year's DelFest, including Railroad Earth, Béla Fleck My Bluegrass Heart featuring Michael Cleveland, Sierra Hull, Mark Schatz, and Bryan Sutton, Cabinet, the Seldom Scene, Hawktail and Jacob Jolliff Band. DelFest returns to the beautiful Allegany Fairgrounds where it celebrates over 13 years of music along the Potomac River.

Unfortunately, the Infamous Stringdusters will be unable to perform this year, and tickets to their late night will be refunded automatically.  No further action is required by ticketholders. We will be announcing this year's late nights soon, so keep an eye out or sign up for our email list HERE to get the latest DelFest updates.

Tickets for this year's festival go on sale tomorrow April 22, 2021 at noon EST.

We look forward to sharing more bands with you soon!

If you go bring an inflatable float chair with cup holders. The Potomac does a horseshoe bend around the venue. 45 minute float with a ten minute walk. 2 or 3 laps a day and you meet the most interesting people along the way

<We will be announcing this year's late nights soon,>

For the most part, you can social distance your way thru the festival in the daytime -- indoor late night shows are another story. It's shoulder to shoulder in there.

Lot of dancin, panting, hooting and hollering. It is possible to loiter near a door and hear it.

Del IS the man.

Small Festival that I'm going to at the end of next week is going to simulcast all indoor music on an FM station and they are asking you to bring along portable radios to tune in.

The timing should be about right for this festival. Just saw that the Hog Farm Hideaway had to postpone their June 10th festival to next year, but I think by late September, things will have opened up much more.  Wonder if HSB is on for October?
