Coach Kerr, doin it to ya in yer eardrum

Hillary!!!

The rebranding of abortion rights as reproductive freedom is a very smart move.

That smile on Hillary's face as the crowd chanted "Lock Him Up!" Priceless. Strong night thus far.

Reverend Warnock just made it church. Powerful stuff.

And this is just the first night.

The assembly looks like the America I know, in stark contrast to the pasty white crowd last month at the RNC.

Jason Isbell is cooler than Kid Rock.

Last night was some pretty good story telling - laying out the weeks' narrative...The images from last week were shit tons of young and old white folks holding up MASS DEPORTATION signs and listened to chump after chump shit all over America...WE ARE NOT IN DECLINE

I choose Peace, prosperity and hope over doom and gloom....that doom and gloom shit fucks with my headshape

i met Jesse Jackson years ago @ the NY Hilton in midtown...i was just on the elevator with a buddy when this giant hand splits the elevator door and it re-opens and standing there is Jesse Jackson ! We make eye contact and i blurt out " RIGHT ON ! wow, keep up the good fight " and he goes " we need people like you to stay in the fight "....we hit his floor , he shook our hands and said ' have a nice night guys'...

Dude was like 6'3" or 4" and BIG...i am a bigger dude and he was formidable

peace

They should gather all of the musicians that have requested that Trump stops playing their music at his rallies, and have an all-star jam

Except for the Celine Dion song from Titanic. I'm fine with him continuing to play that one.

Sent my mom in Chicago the wiener meme. She responded "We tell it like we see it!"

You know what they say about MAGA felons..

20 million watched last night. That is 2 million more than watched day one of the RNC. Ketchup is flying somewhere.

>>>Jason Isbell is cooler than Kid Rock.

Does he shoot beer?

it'll be interesting if the momentum will be enough to woo voters in swing states.

i live in trumperville. saw some jagghole going about 60 in a 35 yesterday with a giant kook flag in the back of the truck. hell, wasn't even a domestic truck....

Double Barrel Obama coming at Trump tonight, watch out for Trump to be triggered, and to go out firing on Truth Social. More weirdness on the horizon

I mean they filled their convention in Chicago tonight and filled the arena in Millwaukee where the RNC had their convention. Never seen that before. Going to be a tough act to follow in four years.

Best line of the night

“We cannot get a Goldilocks complex,” Michelle Obama says, worrying about whether everything is “just right.”

Obama's line about Trump's weird obsession with crowd size was pretty funny, and a great example of how to wield the weird. Don't just call Trump, et al, weird; tell me what kind of weird.

Wow, what a night for the campaign. The Obama's totally kicked ass, but Doug Imhoff's chat was masterful in introducing his wife in a most heartfelt way that I think most of America could relate to. He humanized her so well that now the idiot's attacks will be much harder to reconcile.  IMNSHO.

THANKS for all the links, Noodler. A wonderful public service!

^
Thanks, much appreciated!  It also works as a great resource spot, as various conversations take place, I can come here and find any links I need that I share with others, rather than looking them up every time, lol

James Taylor not happy about being bumped from the DNC. This is funny and worth watching to the end

As soon as I saw Tim Walzs' kid proudly crying when his dad was giving his speech I knew they would go after him.

Ann Coulter Deletes Heartless Gus Walz Tweet After Backlash

https://www.thedailybeast.com/social-media-slams-ann-coulter-for-heartle...

People Mag story on Gus and the Walz's.   https://people.com/gus-walz-learning-disorder-secret-power-exclusive-869...

Some other dipshit did a tweet comparing Gus to Barron. Won't even copy it for anyone to see.

I just love Hope Walz. That kid's a shining light.

Could the Walz family be anymore lovable?!

>"It took time, but what became so immediately clear to us was that Gus’ condition is not a setback — it’s his secret power," the Walzes add.

Harris/Walz v Trump/Vance

Tears of Joy v Tears of Rage

Too bad that Chris Farley and Brian Doyle Murray have both passed on, as either of them could have done a good Tim Walz impersonation.

Will Trump & Co. start calling the Democratic ticket Comrade Kamala and The Outlaw Tim Walz?

There was a spokesperson for the Lincoln Project on the radio earlier today. She said it used to be that Democrats would bring Chocolate Chip Cookies to a Gun fight. Not anymore. And that Democrats would try and play a game chess with Republicans and Republicans would eat the chess pieces. You have to put the bully in the place and playing nice doesn't work. She was happy to see the Democrats finally beating the Republicans at their own game.

(We also know better than to go after Barron at least for now..we can wait till he  grows into Bevis or Butthead. His grown brothers who are part of the Trump regime and attack our folks  are fair game)

Barron is 18 years old, he graduated from high school, and is working on his father's campaign. He's fair game.

I kinda feel bad for Barron, after all he was "raised" by Trump and Melania. His parents have said that he's a "normal" child, but I don't think they know the meaning and could be in denail that he's also neurodivergent.  Treading lightly for the time being. If he starts eating the chess pieces though..

By fair game, I don't mean attacking Barron for things like neurodivergence. He's 18 years old and has chosen to support his lying, cheating, raping, criminal father. That raises a question of character for me, and doesn't address the way his brain might be wired.

Fair enough. Still kinda sad, because I don't think he ever had a choice

He has a choice. Walk away from all that money, or sell your soul to the highest bidder.

As long as he never supports Palestinians. They're terrorists.

I don't think he's free to away anymore than Melania is - the cult removes all free will

But I see your point, Mike -  and MAGA Joffrey's fate will not be good

> MAGA Joffrey

Nice. Is that original? It makes me think of Joffrey's truly awful demise, and how richly he deserved it.

Yes, he just looks evil like Joffrey and since you convinced me  he's fair game..I thought  of a young spoiled  Prince who I don't feel sorry for

Wonder if they ever did a DNA test to see if Donald is actually the biological father.

Just following the Joffrey story line here..

There's enough to go after without disparaging an 18 year-old. I can't imagine what's he's had to go through. Think of it - Donald Trump is your father. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'll go with compassion for now. JMNSHO.

>>>Could the Walz family be anymore lovable?!   Nancy, I don't think so. What an amazing choice - for VP - and for the country - and for the Demo's chances.

 I can't imagine what's he's had to go through.

Worse than starving in Gaza.

poor 'lil fella.

So, where are the links for last night?

So any bets on the big special guess tonight as one person on threads said...

Seeing buzz that the mystery guest tonight is either Beyonce or George Bush and those are answers on the weirdest multiple-choice test ever

Bush and Beyoncé could win Texas.

Another good guess

Anthony Hopkins has the opportunity to do the funniest thing.

Don Lemon was teasing G W Bush, Beyonce, AND Taylor

Read The Speech Activists Want A Palestinian American To Deliver Tonight

Critics of the war in Gaza are continuing their fight to secure a speaking slot on the convention’s main stage for a Palestinian American. The speaker they have in mind is Rep. Ruwa Romman, a Georgia state legislator.

HuffPost obtained a copy of the speech Romman wants to deliver — a message that’s focused on party unity in the face of Trump.

Read the text below:

My name is Ruwa Romman, and I’m honored to be the first Palestinian elected to public office in the great state of Georgia and the first Palestinian to ever speak at the Democratic National Convention.

My story begins in a small village near Jerusalem, called Suba, where my dad’s family is from. My mom’s roots trace back to Al Khalil, or Hebron. My parents, born in Jordan, brought us to Georgia when I was eight, where I now live with my wonderful husband and our sweet pets.

Growing up, my grandfather and I shared a special bond. He was my partner in mischief—whether it was sneaking me sweets from the bodega or slipping a $20 into my pocket with that familiar wink and smile. He was my rock, but he passed away a few years ago, never seeing Suba or any part of Palestine again. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.

This past year has been especially hard. As we’ve been moral witnesses to the massacres in Gaza, I’ve thought of him, wondering if this was the pain he knew too well. When we watched Palestinians displaced from one end of the Gaza Strip to the other I wanted to ask him how he found the strength to walk all those miles decades ago and leave everything behind.

But in this pain, I’ve also witnessed something profound—a beautiful, multifaith, multiracial, and multigenerational coalition rising from despair within our Democratic Party. For 320 days, we’ve stood together, demanding to enforce our laws on friend and foe alike to reach a ceasefire, end the killing of Palestinians, free all the Israeli and Palestinian hostages, and to begin the difficult work of building a path to collective peace and safety.

That’s why we are here—members of this Democratic Party committed to equal rights and dignity for all. What we do here echoes around the world. They’ll say this is how it’s always been, that nothing can change. But remember Fannie Lou Hamer—shunned for her courage, yet she paved the way for an integrated Democratic Party. Her legacy lives on, and it’s her example we follow. But we can’t do it alone.

This historic moment is full of promise, but only if we stand together. Our party’s greatest strength has always been our ability to unite. Some see that as a weakness, but it’s time we flex that strength. Let’s commit to each other, to electing Vice President Harris and defeating Donald Trump who uses my identity as a Palestinian as a slur. Let’s fight for the policies long overdue—from restoring access to abortions to ensuring a living wage, to demanding an end to reckless war and a ceasefire in Gaza.

To those who doubt us, to the cynics and the naysayers, I say, yes we can – yes we can be a Democratic Party that prioritizes funding our schools and hospitals, not for endless wars. That fights for an America that belongs to all of us—black, brown, and white, Jews and Palestinians, all of us, like my grandfather taught me, together.

I doubt GW - he's been very non political post Presidency. And do we really think he cares? Would be nice if he did.

My money is on Beyoncé

It will be Beyonce she is already there.

Nope fake news on Beyonce

This reminded me of an announcement of a Phil & Friends show with a "special guest".

From last night:

“With respect to the war in Gaza,” Harris said, “President Biden and I are working around the clock, because now is the time to get a hostage deal and a ceasefire deal done.”

“And let me be clear,” she continued, “I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself, and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on Oct. 7. Including unspeakable sexual violence and the massacre of young people at a music festival.”

“At the same time, what has happened in Gaza over the past 10 months is devastating. So many innocent lives lost. Desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, over and over again. The scale of suffering is heartbreaking. President Biden and I are working to end this war such that Israel is secure, the hostages are released, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity. Security. Freedom. And self-determination.”
