When I was at RR for Phil in May they were already promoting this DSO show. Recreating 7/8/78 with Donna, it will be a memorable show...it’s a beautiful thing!
Was a real nice treat. I came for the weekend, and unlike usual Colorado visits featuring camping, this time I stayed in LoDo and haunted the urban landscape that Denver offered.
It was a hot beautiful day on the day of the show. I hadn't seen a show at Red Rocks since Phil tour In July 2001. It had been a while.
I'm not into jam bands and I don't listen to Keller, but I thought he played well and was a great opener for them. The sun was shining and the crowd got all loosened up.
I'm not a Donna fan and was not thrilled to hear she was going to playing, but dag gummit, they must have rehearsed because she blended really well and it sounded awesome. My cynical self stepped aside, and I enjoyed her contribution despite my bias.
A storm blew upon Denver in the distance, with lightning and wind, and yes, a rainbow, and it cooled off the hot day making the music that much sweeter.
We've all listened to the show and those songs, but DSO did them all with energy and skill, and if you love Grateful Dead music done classically, and you love dancing, you would have had a great time.
The show sold out- and the audience was great. I caught a ride back to Denver, made it to sleep about 1:30 am, then woke up at 5 am and made my way to the airport.

I watched the free Nugs stream. It was really good. It was respectably full and the band sounded great.
