Anyone done this? My wife is thinking about doing it - if she does I probably will too. I know there are several outfits that do this now - does anyone have any info on the various providers?
Be careful, in the future your DNA test will be used to advance your health insurance rates, imprison your family in camps, or used to replicate humans in a quasi human drone army. Truth is stranger than science fiction. I would wait for the home kit that gives you results on the spot where you can destroy the results if needed....
Not to be too paranoid, but I agree with "one race" and what Trail says. Sure its cool to know your origins but thats a ton of info to give to someone. Is there and option for your results to be kept out of their databases? I doubt it. Also be careful what you wish for, I have seen first hand when someone is shown that their father is not their father based on surprise results and the family dissolved. Extreme but true. yeah yeah, tin foil hat. I did just watch Minority Report though...

I know 3/4 for sure, but my grandfather on my moms side is somewhat of a mystery.
There was a name change involved so I'm curious about his roots.

And I'll say it again --
And I'll say it again -- there is ONE race, the human race.
All the dna tests reveal is the geographic region from which your ancestors originated.

Did two of them.
Did two of them.
One was a migration study which traced migration paths of people with whom I share DNA over 200,000 years, very interesting.
The other was a "recent" profile which dropped the close patterns as UK centric.
Both matrilineal.
