DNB at DSO Jubilee?

Forums:

DNB is listed as a performer at the DSO Jubilee in May.

This is not on the DNB site yet.  Budboy, do you know if this is confirmed?

Pretty nice lineup listed there. If it's all confirmed, it might be worth a trip to OH.

Sweet

That is a nice lineup....  Any hotels close so you don't have to camp etc. I have not been to Ohio in over 50 yrs.

thinking of hitting alaska

Melvin just announced a show Feb 25th at the Warfield...w...oteil ..the jerry girls...stu Allen w David Nelson band opening...looks like David is healing...nice

Bart, there are hotels nearby. Some in the small towns around the lake, but sometimes people just get ones a few miles closer to Columbus. Jubilee is always a great time.

Thanks, Budboy!  heart

cool.

I assume that this is a positive portent regarding Mr. Nelson's progress.  This is good to hear.  David, if you're out there, hope you are getting better each day.  And not just for my listening pleasure either!

"HAWAII UPDATE
Aloha! Many of you have been asking if we plan on playing in Hawaii in 2017. Just a heads up to everyone that we are looking into the possibility of doing shows between Feb 7-14, most likely on the Big Island. This would be the same version of the band that played the Harvest Tour this year, with Vince Herman filling in for the recovering David Nelson. Leftover Nelson anyone? We’ll keep you posted on how things are progressing and hope to know by the beginning of next week if the dates will happen. Stay tuned…"

thanks for the updates, folks!

Such a great festival! Very consistent, year after year. We always make the journey from SE CT

>>UPDATE

DNB in Hawaii over Valentine weekend?

..guessing the DNB valentine days shows won't be happening in the Bay Area in 2017?

Nice seeing Robin Sylvester is out and playing again, always thought he was a nice addition to ratdog.

>>> Melvin just announced a show Feb 25th at the Warfield...w...oteil ..the jerry girls...stu Allen w David Nelson band opening...looks like David is healing...nice

That's a great show. Melvin + Jackie and Gloria + Stu is about as close as you're gonna get to the real JGB thing these days (not that Melvin's normal crew isn't great), although Oteil is quite different from Kahn (though that's not necessarily a bad thing)

That just might be a festival I could go to.

So these shows r w Vince Herman?? Or just Hawaii??

Wondering the same thing??

looking at the Jubilee as an event I might want to attend and would be willing to travel for

camping inside the concert venue looks like the way to go!  but I would need to schlep all my camping gear on a plane from NorCal to Ohio, which is not something I'd look forward to... UNLESS a kind Ohio Zoner might consider assisting me by loaning me some gear, and/or helping me figure out the logistics of how i could make the camping thing happen on a budget

Doobiedaddy, you out there?

Schwadude?

i am indeed garyfish.  i will be glad to assist.  emotw

I've had the pleasure of attending each one. Each one has been fun and different.

The first in 2012 was held on Labor Day. Small intimate crowd- it felt like a private party. We got struck by the remnants of a hurricane, one stage was washed out, but it created a fascinating and quite enjoyable weekend with stellar music. Both Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman's groups played, along with others including Jorma.

2013 was a chilly but sunny weekend. Karl Denson, Greensky Bluegrass, and a stellar late night concert by Mickey Hart. I felt the beam in my chest cavity.

2014 was perfect weather. Anders Osborne rocked it, Steep Canyon Rangers were interesting, and NRPS played. Great time.

2015 featured Peter Rowan, Keller and the Keels, and Moonalice (if that's your thing, its not mine), but Los Lobos rocked along with Robert Randolph.

2016 had Melvin Seals sitting in with DSO, Hot Tuna electric & acoustic, Steve Kimock, and many others. I believe 2016 was the first sell out year. It ended up being quite a crowd.

I've always loved the location, and the general intimate vibe. and the ability to bring all your food and drink into the main concert area. The sound is spectacular. The guest sit in's are also a big highlight.

See you in 2017!

^^^ Lager -- your comments make me want to attend even more!

Doobiedaddy -- my email is in my Zone profile... looking forward to connecting!

Here are pics and vids of past Jubilee's.

Peglet and I are making plans to road trip it out to this shindig:)

So is Nelson going to be in Alaska? Kind of a long way for me to go.

Just wondering. Don't think work schedule will allow it, but not sure yet

Peglet and I are making plans to roadtrip...<<<

Wouldn't miss the much anticipated Vitamin A Reunion for all the tea in China!

Grayfish, if you make it to NY to see your people, you can most certainly road trip with Tracy and me!   That would be FUN!!!!!

My #s the same.

^^^ Peglet -- tempting offer, and it would be SO MUCH FUN road-tripping w/ you guyz... but, I'm planning this trip as a quick in-out adventure and will not be visiting my peeps in NY until my usual late June-July timeframe

I'll meet you at the Jubilee smiley

((((( Vitamin A Reunion )))))

Ha yes I will meet you at the jubilee for sures!!!!

is nelson going to be there?

are they playing more than 1x?

looks tempting but seems lineups have been better...

I wouldn't expect to see Nelson playing guitar until next summer.  The Warfield show will be with Vince Herman.

^^^ Paul woz -- where are you getting your info from?

Turtle -- according to Budboy, DNB is playing ONCE at the festival, just not sure which day yet... I was bummed to hear that, because the way it's listed on the NelsonBand website it could be interpreted that they're playing all 3 days  sad

oh ok. thanks.

not into the keller dude and don't like electric tuna...

Don't like electric Hot Tuna dies not compute.

really.  wtf turtle?

agreed on keller, though

Jack kicks ass in Electric Tuna. But I don't think Ohio is calling me to go there. Especially if only one set of Leftover Nelson.

Don't get me wrong. Leftover Nelson kicks ass. Cal or Hawaii I am there. Thinking about Alaska. Really fun last yr, but I am so fucking broke these days.

Grate Thread!  Good news about David, I hope be heals up good as new, real soon!

Also very pleased to see all the likely suspect in this thread, This place is just a container, what we

fill it with is the stuff that matters!

Let Vorty sing...

I am waiting for the additional Leftover Nelson dates to be announced. smiley

They easily could play Delfest that weekend as well.

(((((wishful thinking)))) ?

DSO Jubile 2016.JPG

Dark Star Jubilee 2016.

The Alaska dates are on the DNB page now.

Budboy, do you know whether Nelson or Vince will be at the Warfield, Alaska, and Jubilee shows?

Alaska in March = brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

and right now flights from the Bay Area are as expensive as flying to Hawaii...

pass!

its indoors hall...

yes turtle yes, but only if you can get to the venue... google: anchorage march blizzards

plus, if I'm spending that much vacation time/money, I will want to explore/enjoy the surrounding area... I can see the nelsonlesssless band indoors here if that's all I'm looking for.

plenty to explore and enjoy around girdwood. I spent a week there last year and was never bored. Beautiful area

not arguing that, Hounder

again, Alaska weather in March = iffy

ok go ahead and play it safe

more DNB for me

you going Hounder?

Leftover Salmon have shows in Colorado weekend of Sitzmark shows.

Nice catch Magoo.

We were very lucky with awesome weather last yr.

I'm still hoping for Hawaii.

How is this font on an iphone?

Font is fine on iPhone. So fine!

Hall!  I thought you shred winter mountains?  alyeska all day, music apres?

No I won't be there.

so, I assume that since there's been no announcement about Hawaii from DNB, that tour ain't happenin'

Alaska in mid-March, anyone?

MarkD? Todd the Conductor?

is nelson able to gig in alaska or not yet???

Any update on the mid -February Hawaii run w/Vince? Haven't seen anything on facebook since Dec. 7???

Hawaii not dead yet.

But may be for me if I buy a house soon. And that is looking likely.

Seems like Alaska is way up in the air as LOS is playing elsewhere that weekend. So David would have to be healthy and ready to go by then.  I would not yet buy advanced accommodations. Hope it happens, but not holding breath.

You may have found a house, Mark? Yay!

DSO>GSBG>DNB - Are these all airports?

Well i have to say what the fuck,.........they are gouging the food venders for $1750 and they don't even draw 10K. Contrast this to Electric Forest that draws well over 25K and is less for two 4 day weekends in a row. Money Grubbing Hippy Scum welcome to 2017!

Sorry but that is straight up GREED and i understand from friends that have attended the drive out of the venue is a "LETS BUST THE HIPPIES FEST" rural cops loves their illegal searches, so NO!

Puddle Me, are you trying to say you won't go? Cool.

image_97.jpg

Today the DNB Facebook page published this puzzling event page.  It says David Nelson Band, but shows a photo of Leftover Salmon.

Leftover Salmon has announced Telluride shows for those March dates.

Anyone know what's going on?

Zooey, you see it all!

But I know ... nothing!

not sure which shoulder or the real severity of the injury. but at  like 25 yrs younger and have had shoulder surgery...shit doesn't ever really get right. i was 3-6 mos pretty f'd up. not sure which side, or if it matters, but the strap across the shoulders would be an issue. he should sit maybe like kimmok.

I heard it's going to be John Mayer sitting in for David.

Haha - hope they play the new hit single, Love on the Weekend...

Langer,....You be sure to enjoy the $50.00 bag of dicks for me though,....Naw i just don't support the GREED MACHINE but you go right ahead. Btw the weather is pretty sketch that time of year there so go prepared.

Puddle, I've been every year. The weather has mostly been good. Did the Dark Star Jubilee poop in your cereal? You seem a little bitter.

I have an schedule update from the DNB concerning the Dark Star Jubilee.
The DNB will play Friday, May 26th from 6:30 - 8PM.
DSO will come on @ 8:30PM after DNB.

Let's hope that David can play by May! Pretty iffy, but hope springs eternal!

Puddles seems to be really obsessed with money.

hopefully the members of DNB will be able to hang around at the festival and sit in w/ various acts

for example, I'd love to see Barry onstage w/ DSO, trading licks w/ Jeff Mattson... DSO triple-drummer attack w/ Molo... Pete sitting in w/ Hot Tuna electric... etc.

DSO, DNB and Greensky, what's not to love!
