What's the best large breed holistic puppy food? The breeders I got him from have been feeding him Diamond naturals holistic large breed puppy food. I've also seen through the internet they sell that crap at Walmart. Any recommendations as to something more "organic" that will keep this pup on the right track to being a full grown dog of his size?

Been thinking of changing his name to Yeti!

My vet recomended Purina Pro Plan. Dog ain't dead yet.

Yeti is a cool name btw.

I do EVO and Zignature (I mix them 50/50, and switch up the proteins every bag). Neither has a puppy line. The instructions just say to feed less.

My neighbors got a pup a few months ago, and their vet said that those brands may have too much protein for puppies.

The Zignature kangaroo is 26% protein and 14% fat.

The EVO red meat is 46% protein and 26% fat.

I know next to nothing about dog food, but I think Yeti would be an awesome name as well.

Isn't Yeti a trendy,  overpriced cooler?

barf.

God damn that is one cute puppy.

try making your own dog food. rice, raw burger, some veggis... look it up.

sweet pup btw.

From what I've read, the best dog diet is definitely raw. The absolute worst dog diet can also be raw. You have to do it right, and it takes time and planning.

I have great Pyrenees 9 years old.

We used nutro large breed puppy

My dogs are cheap.  They don't like the expensive dog food.  I guess I am lucky for that.  They are both young, and healthy.

Cute puppy!  Congrats Oh Ghee!  I think Wolf is a keeper.  Best wishes!

    Thanks y'all!

Nice Greg, I actually picked up a small bag of that to mix in with this Diamond Naturals to try out.

    BLACKSHEEP!

Congrats on the cool dog.  We have yet to see a photo of it awake.  Does Wolfe

    sleep all the time?

Isn't Yeti a trendy,  overpriced cooler <<only as of the past few years maybe.

    More like Yukon Cornelius's friend

IMG_0663.JPGThere are a few pics of him awake in the in going to see some puppies / am I crazy thread.

But yes, he sleeps a lot. That's what puppies do. He'll be six weeks old this Saturday.

His routine has been Sleep, get up and go out, come in and drink, play for 30 min and sleep again for another 1.5-2 hrs.

While eating four times a day...

My RotRador (Rotty Lab Mix) Roofus is super healthy and has always devoured Taste of the Wild Bison/Venison Formula:

    Good looking dog, Treble

    Roo is a keeper.

Though the 1st three years were challenging as all the lab in him caused the loss of a lot of shoes, food and miscellaneous objects we'd find 1/2 consumed or destroyed behind his dog bed.

    He's finally mellowed out....

yukon cornelius' friend's name is bumble

Just prefacing this with I really know fuckall about dog nutrition. Tuoilie is 11 months old.  Not a large dog (30 lbs).  I feed her chicken breasts, rice, and whatever dry food we have (no particular one every time).  Sometimes she gets whatever other kind of protein I'm cooking, and I dehydrate fruits and veggies to give her as treats.  She also gets milkbones, and rawhide stuff too.  She also enjoys cat turds.

cat nuggets are a delicacy, and give your pooch kissy breath

everybody knows what a yeti is, bil nye

      >>> Isn't Yeti a trendy,  overpriced cooler?

yes. unless you actually use them for camping in bear country, then they're the greatest thing since sliced bacon.

(padlocks keep the wookies out, too)

There's several good sites which are specific to canine dog food reviews, both wet and dry.

Raised all mine on a combo of wet and dry, but not mixed,as that tends to lend itself to puppy indigestion as they woof the wet.
