One of my favorite lines from her is when she was asked how long it takes to do her hair. She replied "I don't know. I'm never there."
Saw Dolly at MerleFest in 2001. Maybe the best entertainer I have ever seen (and I've been lucky enough to see Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and The Beatles). She had a good line that night. After making the audience laugh about her clothes and hair she says:
"Don't laugh. I spent a lot of money to look this cheap."
I have no idea about the tee shirt. Best guess is there's a deadhead in her graphics arts department and Dolly liked the effort. We are everywhere.
I love those two Bluegrass records she released in the early oughts. Was she playing Little Sparrow and her traditional repertoire or her commercial hits at HSBG or both. Sounds like a killer show!
