Duran Duran with Niles Rodgers and Chic

Forums:

Saw Duran Duran last night at the Moda Center and it wasn't half bad.  My partner has liked them ever since she was 14 so basically went for the nostalgia trip, but they ended up playing a lot of deep cuts (I don't know the songs) that were actually quite rocking.  Simon Le Bon sounded great.

Niles Rodgers and Chic opened and they played hit after disco hit.   I initially thought it was strange he was playing so many famous covers but then looked on Wiki and saw that Niles recorded, played on, and/or produced all those hits made famous by other artists like Diana Ross, David Bowie, and Madonna.   Really fun dance tunes and would recommend checking out this tour.

There was another band on the bill called Bastille and thought they sucked balls.   They used backing tracks (and not creatively) and played mediocre pop rock with a singer who thought he was Mick Jagger.

We saw Duran Duran last night in Atlanta. I agree with Ken, fun show. I am familiar with the "hits" and they played most all of them with a couple of new songs and fun covers from the early 80s. I have always thought John Taylor was a funky bass player.  My son loves hungry like the wolf and they played that early on so he was stoked.  Nile Rodgers is awesome, we were able to see the last 10 mins of his set with the medley.  He has been a part of the music scene for a very long time.
